  1. It's a donation for either the wrestling/volleyball facility or the SEZ expansion. It's at Henke Hall at MS. Cuban will be there, but he's already here for the hackathon, so... Pre-emptive strike: If it is football, we are NOT adding a bunch of seats. It is for all sports to use. I'm tired of seeing stupid "we can't sell out" comments on Peegs and I'm sure Twitter is going to be all kinds of stupid too. And don't insult the donor for having their name used like we did with CSS. TIA.

    Typical ESPN crapola

@Brass Cannon You are trying WAY too hard to discredit Wilson and the progress he has made. Did he steal your girlfriend or something? And we didn't play a cakewalk schedule last year, I have no idea where that's coming from. Also, do you understand what gimmick team actually means? Running a no huddle isn't a gimmick. Actually, most of last year we just handed it off to Tevin and ran through teams.

    Crean Recruitment in the Midwest?

I also think people need to quit kidding themselves over how amazing basketball in Indiana is. I mean, I live here, I love it, I've seen Hoosiers a million times and all that, but Good Lord. Give it a rest.

    Crean Recruitment in the Midwest?

"FWIW, I don't give him credit for Will. I liked Will...don't get me wrong. But Will Sheehey plays in almost every conference in Indiana, and there's a clone of his playing right now (maybe he graduated...don't know) at Fishers and another one at Evansville Reitz. Will Sheehey was a great role player on a great team, but on his own as a senior, and WITH an NBA lottery pick, his team missed the post season. There was nothing special about WIll Sheehey that Crean couldn't have found, probably within 30 minutes of Bloomington. Oladipo worked his A$$ off to become what he did. He played on that team USA group the summer after his freshman season, and found a trainer he liked....and went to work. Crean didn't develop him. Oladipo developed Oladipo. I do give credit to Crean for finding a kid of that character. Williams is a very poor fundamental basketball player. He's a freak athlete who plays basketball. You're talking about a kid who led his team in turnovers, and as freaky athletic as he is, had half as many blocks as Colin Hartman and has very little in the way of a perimeter game. Not to bash him or criticize you... My way of viewing basketball players has less to do with "the simple positives of the kids who said yes" than it does with what we could be if Crean put any real effort into building a team with kids whose abilities make everyone else better and a program that can succeed year in and year out. You cannot do that with Will Sheehey and Troy Williams." In a sea of dumb posts, this takes the cake. That's some amazingly convoluted logic to not give someone any credit for anything.

    Cream and Crimson game

Just an FYI, but there was a beer garden in the SEZ during last years pre game tailgate party.
  7. South End Zone news: We haven't announced our full next wave of capital improvements. It's probably the worst kept secret in Bloomington that not only are we going renovate Assembly Hall, but we're going to close in the end zone at Memorial Stadium. It will be cool for the stadium, but what's most important is what's inside. It will be very student athlete welfare oriented. We made an investment in what we consider is a state-or-the-art academic center underneath the East grandstand of Memorial Stadium. We have a state-of-the-art strength and conditioning facility underneath the North End Zone. Our goal is to complete what we call the Circle of Excellence and combine that academic and strength center with a Premiere Leadership and Life skills Center, a Rehabilitation and Treatment Center, a Wellness Center with doctors and nutritionists and psychologists, and then a Nutrition Center that would bring the training table up to the light of day. On game days it would also be some form of premium seating and hospitality for our fans. Our goal is to do all these simultaneously with Assembly Hall. Assembly Hall will have a head start. My expectation would be those would be opened shortly after Assembly Hall opened. It will be building during the 2015-16 season, and open in 2016-17, so in or around 2016-17. http://www.news-sentinel.com/article/2015150129544 “I’ll be working with others on our Bloomington campus with construction projects for an Assembly Hall $35 million renovation starting in April 2015 lasting some 18 months, enclosure of Memorial Stadium with our south end zone project called the Excellence Center and the construction of a 3,000-seat gymnasium for our volleyball and wrestling program with several support facilities included,” Crabb said. http://www.journalreview.com/sports/article_52bb2058-ab51-11e4-a899-63daea42ce35.html
  8.   Where is he going? The trustees just stated how great of a job they think he's doing. He's not going to quit.

The fans aren't going to the games?

First, it's "their." Second, our student attendance problem started down this path close to a decade ago. I hate UK, but how are their fans different? They've had more success recently, and get 20k for Big Blue Madness.

The fans aren't going to the games?

Im sorry, but this is reaching a level of stupidity I haven't seen in a while. Every ticket is sold. We don't need these big dramatic essays. Times and society have changed, and getting students to stay at games is a problem pretty much everywhere. The alumni attendance has been fine. Donations are up. We're starting a $150 mil facilities campaign after the largest donation in the history of the AD came in. Students just aren't going to games. They would rather watch in a bar.

Dear Lord. Read. The. Thread. Oh, and... http://kentuckysportsradio.com/basketball-2/examining-the-low-student-attendance-epidemic/

The fans aren't going to the games?

Yep. The red areas are for students:

The fans aren't going to the games?

Then why did they buy the tickets? They willingly chose, after a bad season, to give money to the AD for tickets. They knew about the low expectations, and bought the tickets. They just aren't going, which again, has been an issue at a ton of places for a while. You could see this beginning to happen when Gordon was here, even with all the hype. Lots of empty seats, just more scattered because there was no GA section.

The fans aren't going to the games?

The season is sold out, as usual, except for the Christmas games. Students aren't showing up, which AGAIN, is a nationwide issue.

The fans aren't going to the games?

So Duke fans hate Coach K? Using your logic, yes. They can't fill their student section either, which is tiny.
  17. RBB89

The fans aren't going to the games?

No, it's the student seats, which are sold (actually oversold), but they aren't showing up. It's a nationwide problem. Duke has even started selling Cameron Crazy seats to the general public. But sure, let's blame Crean. It appears Alabama fans hate Nick Saban as well!
  18. What? We're having a decent season, and I'm not going to be miserable all year because we aren't 24-1. Long term, I want Final Fours, but you have to examine each individual season/situation. But please, keep throwing out buzz words.
  19. Ummmm...what? We aren't even adding seats. They're building a support building for the entire athletic department with a Gameday club area that will increase capacity by like 50. It will have beer. Our club seating sells out every week.

    Bears talking to Kevin Wilson

    A truly asstute response.
  21. Glass said they have some things planned, but it won't be one of the big 3 projects in the upcoming campaign.
  22. The old baseball/softball fields are being turned into fields for rec sports. The plan was recently approved by the trustees. The new volleyball/wrestling facility is going in one of the parking lots by AH (I believe by Cook Hall). The press box has gotten some interior improvements, but Glass has said previously that a new press box is down on his list.   One other thing the football expansion will do is allow us to double the size of the locker room/player's lounge, since the function of the Hoosier Room next to it will now be in the SEZ.

Like it. Only disagreement is that I think they will try to RS Zander (and King).
