  1. A close OT W for the Hoosiers at the Joyce Center: Knight vs Clem Haskins. The raw feed of the CBS announcers before they went live is pretty hilarious: UNLV in the Final Four. Self explanatory:

I think so. Young guy, won an NCAA championship here as a player, was associate head coach here last year, seems like good timing with the new facilities.

^^^ All of the above have been renovated. I believe every sport has a new locker room at this point. Swimming just got one. Tennis and golf did as well. Baseball, softball, field hockey, wrestling, and volleyball all have new stadiums/arenas and locker room facilities on site. ^^^ Again, basketball has received upgrades to their LR before, but there was so much else that needed to be done that a complete redo probably got pushed back. I imagine Archie asked for it as well. Here are the current baseball, softball, field hockey, and golf locker rooms, just as a comparison to what I posted above...

Here is what pretty much all of our locker rooms looked like in 2006-2007. Glass arrived in 2009, and mentioned that it was an early goal to renovate all 24 locker rooms in some way... (Field hockey, track, wrestling, baseball, softball, and soccer are shown...field hockey, baseball, and softball were located in Assembly Hall, and they had to walk/ride to their old playing facilities at Mellencamp Pavilion and the old baseball and softball fields up the hill.)

Yeah Fred gave Crean what he wanted. I don’t know that Crean necessarily spent that money wisely.

I would think the basketball locker room will be done by this upcoming season. It’s out for bid now and really shouldn’t take that long. The football locker room probably won’t be ready until the spring or summer of 2019. That’s because they’re completely tearing everything out of that and expanding it and starting over. They’re using the old Hoosier Room and rehab facilities next to the current locker room to create an entirely new layout and lounge. So they can’t start on that until those old facilities move into the south end zone this August. And at that point, the team will need a functioning locker room for the season that isn’t a hard hat area.

I suspect they will be knocking down walls. Football is using the old Hoosier Room and rehab facilities next to their locker room to expand it. There are a lot of old offices/rooms in AH that are not really used anymore.

    IUFB Offseason Updates

Yep. And the fact that everything is pretty much centrally located, especially for football, is a really nice recruiting pitch. But even baseball, softball, wrestling, volleyball, field hockey, soccer, etc. can show recruits around the stadium complex, because that’s where everything they could possibly need will be. And their playing facilities are not far away from there. There are a lot of nice facilities at a lot of schools, but many times various training/academic facilities are very spread out all over the place.

    IUFB Offseason Updates

Care about what? There is enough equipment in there, and it is large enough to have multiple teams in there at once, comfortably, so that everyone can be using the same equipment. They have had other power five schools come in to check out the layout of it and the football complex. Good planning/smart allocation of resources is not a negative. And again, if football chooses to kick other sports out when they want to lift, they can. It’s their weight room. But that’s never an issue, because of the size and good scheduling. This is making up an issue that doesn’t exist. This is like complaining about how they’re going to also use the new training table/dining hall as a club area on game days. That’s a good use of resources. For a school that doesn’t have the amount of cash like an Ohio State or Alabama, that’s a really good idea.

    IUFB Offseason Updates

No it doesn’t, and no one gets in the way. It has enough equipment for multiple teams to use it at once, and football can kick them out if they choose to. It’s their weight room. I don’t think football ever shares weight room time though as it is, so this is literally an issue that doesn’t exist.

    IUFB Offseason Updates

Why would that hurt us? It’s literally large enough to have the entire football team in there on one side, and multiple other sports on the other side, using the same equipment. There is a ridiculous amount of equipment in there. It’s a moot point anyway, because football always gets first dibs. If they decide to schedule a random lift, and they want other sports to leave, the other sports have to leave. And I know for a fact that they tell this to recruits, because a football recruit on a visit snapchatted this information out while on a tour. The basketball teams have their own weight room/rehab facilities, but even they use facilities at MS too. Everything is centrally located there, with the academic center and other facilities. Having a giant weight room is not hurting us in recruiting. Football can use it whenever they want. If they don’t want to share it, they don’t have to. They don’t really ever have to share it, actually. Everything is scheduled around when they use it. Smart planning/allocation of resources is not a negative.

It isn’t falling apart, but this has needed to be addressed for a while. If you’re going to compete at an elite level, act like it. Also, a lot of it is going to be redoing the restroom/showers, and carpeting and the ceiling…it’s just old.

Decades of neglect in every sport (facilities wise) = a LOOOOOOOOT of catch-up. Glad it’s happening.

Someone on another board who has seen the renderings says it will be top of the line. It will look like what Kansas, Michigan State, and Kentucky have (our Cook Hall locker rooms already look like Duke’s). I know IU is really spending some money on football to make our new locker room/lounge look more like an NFL type layout (see below), so I imagine we’re putting some good money into the basketball revamp as well. (I used to be able to find plans for these projects with more ease, but IU requires a password now for some of their plan room).

Here is what the Cook Hall locker rooms look like for both the men and women. I assume the AH project will look similar, with even newer touches...

Assembly Hall locker room to be renovated: http://distribution.easternengineering.com/Job_Details/20170970 TOC.pdf No renderings or anything, but confirms that it is being done. The Cook Hall locker room is already very nice, so this will only add to that. Glad it’s happening. The women have a nice locker room in Cook Hall as well, and although I can’t confirm it, recent pictures seem to indicate that they have started improving their locker room in Assembly Hall as well (just paint and minor touches...I have no idea if they’re going to overhaul it like the men’s). On a related note, football is also getting a brand new/expanded locker room and players lounge.

One tiny nugget from this is that we are going to be redoing the team meeting rooms in the north end zone as part of the next project (new locker room/players lounge).

They might do that. We play them in Bloomington for what was supposed to be another one off game later in the season.
