Could Crean shake things up for the Grand Canyon game?
Ranger78 replied to AZ Hoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
UWE - I understand your point and I share some of your concerns. I disagree with your point about only using JA during garbage time, but I believe that's just a difference in opinion, which is why we come on these boards in the first place. -

Could Crean shake things up for the Grand Canyon game?
Ranger78 replied to AZ Hoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We can all say April should not be on the team, but he is and from what I can tell might be are 3rd or 4th post option, so we might want to see what he can do in a game situation. I think its a little shortsighted to write off a kid his Freshman year. A lot of people on here are making absolute statements on a kids future like they've watched him since middle school (no reference to middle school bob) and know everything about his game. He might not be D1 talent, but right now he is an Indiana Hoosier and we might want to give him a chance, before we write him off. -

Coach put April in vs the 4th best team in the country, so I would like to see a little more than the 4-5 min court time before I make a judgement on April. He might not be much (I don't know), but we don't have a whole lot of options in the post, so I say what the hell --> give the 7 ft guy a shot vs Grand Canyon and see what he can do. If his play in practice warrants more playing time, I'm all for it and I would like to see it before we're forced to use him vs GT. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -

I would like to see Hanner and Holt play together a little. In addition, I think its time to give April some extendend minutes. We need to find some people that can play defense and rebound. I'm hoping Hanner improves in these areas with a little help down low. Troy has a big place on this team, but he needs to learn how to be less selfish on offense and how to play better help side defense. -
Lol - well does it make it okay, because she knew Syracuse was under NCAA investigations? I'm okay with what she said, but I'm not sure why Syracuse is getting a free ride. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

Yep... I would understand her statements about IU, but the other school is Syracuse for Christ sakes. I guess Syracuse was forthright during their visit about the cheating and other issues....going on at Syracuse. Wow ... I'm confused. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

We're fine on offense. We need to play defense and rebound. Slow down the dribble drive by our outside defenders and then be prepared to help on the interior. Defense and rebounding is a LOT about effort, so I still have faith. I have faith these guys with all their athletic abilities will look at the front of their jersey and give a dam about somebody taking the ball to the basket. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

IUBB vs. Eastern Washington Post Game Thread
Ranger78 replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Young teams should not lack effort and that's what caused the L last night. They would play hard on defense for a bit and then take extended breaks. My 9 year old daughter's team plays better on the ball defense then that crap last night. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -

They're already on thanksgiving vacation. This defense is pathetic. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -
Maybe cause the kid accidentally hit his friend with his car and he's not ready to play D1 b-ball yet? I really have no idea, but It could be multiple different things.... I agree we're going to need Holt this year and I would have loved to see him play yesterday, but it's only one game, so I'm going to wait and see on Mr Holt. I do understand your concern, because we're going to need help down low. I thought HP played better than his overall stats, but he is going to have to do better hitting the boards... or we're in trouble.

6'4" Guard Nick Zeisloft joins Hoosiers

I like the pick up.

He gives needed leadership, shooting and low turnovers.

Leadership is the key this year and it starts with coach. He needs to lead better and maybe he saw something in this young man that could help him get his message across.

We're all invested in this team, but I would hope nobody believes more than the coaching staff and team.

Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -

I'm not sure what some of you get from telling us something we already know. We did not do well last year and when it counted we came up short the year before. I'm a supporter of Coach Crean and I get the team will need to do better next year. I've been a fan since 74, so I'm not sure it makes me an expert, but I hope it gives me the right to say please give it a rest. Let the coach and team figure it out this year.... If they fall short, we can start the process all over. I'm guessing I'll be on the other side of the fence, RLTW! Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -

It's about results. We did not see much last year, but continually to harp on the same shit over and over gets old. Coach Crean needs to produce at this point, but I'm not sure what good it does to continually point out the failures. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -
