    IU @ PU Game

If you're going to try and shoot over Hammond, you have to take it into his chest. You can't give him space. Or throw it back out for a three. I think we handle Purdue pretty easily at home. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

This is one game where Crean should have gone off on the refs. The fact they're in the double bonus and we've been driving to the rim all night and they only have 6 is telling. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

    Cracking the Top 25

I was surprised Iowa was not in the top 25. And I agree their game VS Wisky should be a good one.

The more I read about coach K the more I like Duke. Duke will get it figured out and I'm hoping they beat UofL this weekend.

    IU vs. MSU Postgame

I had basketball practice with my daughter last night, so I recorded the game.   Looked at the score after practice and could not bring myself to watch last night.   This will be the first game in over 14 years that I have not watched, but you guys have convinced me that nothing good can come from hitting the play button on the recording.   I was just starting to get a little excited about this team...   I'll just stick my head in the sand and wait for Saturday to come along....

One of coaches (and staff) best coaching jobs.... Great job by both players and coaching staff.... Great start to the big ten season .... This team is starting to turn the corner.

    Stanford Robinson's Role

Stan needs to turn it up on the defense end, which should help him stop pressing on the offensive end. He is pressing way too much with the ball and not with a purpose like last year. He needs to drive and either dish or take it to the rim depending on what's given to him. Should be simple with his talent level,  but it looks like he's pressing way to hard and trying to do too many things that are not there.   Play hard on DEF Stan and I think the rest of your game takes an up tick ....

And Knights teams always led in these two categories....sorry... I'll cool it with bringing up Knight so much ....

Excellent point, but I believe that's due to our dribble attack offense, which creates a lot of FT's.

I'm almost positive it was during the first overtime, but the argument stays the same regardless. I wish Crean would get into the refs more, so I'm in full agreement with you there. I'm a big Coach Knight fan and he played the refs like a violin sometimes and when he was under control and working them he was great. Sometimes he would loose his mind and cost the team, but in his prime he would get IU 4-6 + more FT a game. Coach Izzo is good, but he whines way too much for my liking. I thought JT3 did a good job working the refs vs IU, but not sure it effected the game much. I think Crean has done a better coaching job this year. The use of the timeout is an interesting argument, because Knight would let some teams play through rough spots to see how they would react. I'm not sure Coach Crean was doing that vs GTown, but In hindsight a timeout when GTown cut it to 6-8 might have made a difference. To me timeouts and working the refs are great, but playing better defense is where this team will either be good or just...well frustrating.... I'm not sure if they will ever be good enough under Coach Crean, but dissecting his every move through this journey will only lead me to drink too much.

I would also argue that you don't get a tech called on you in overtime, which might have ended up costing you the game with two made FT's. Turgeon was clearly pissed and it had nothing to do with a strategic move to get calls. With that said, I thought he did a great coaching job and Maryland plays with a lot of heart.

LOL - Izzo flat out lost that game. He calls a time out on a clear break away lay up and does not have them foul up by 3... And Crean still gets a backwards slap down and he's not even coaching. Funny.

IU Vs Gtown (Post Game Thread)

I agree we're really close to being a good team. I'm hoping we find some answers on the defense end, because this team has the potential to be a tough out in March. Some of the players just look slow on defense (even on doubles), which just kills them, because they're too slow to effect the ball and they moved off their man leaving a wide open shooter. I'm not sure why they would ever drop off Smith-Rivera, because he was the only real threat for GT from the outside. Next game is huge. We need a strong start to the big ten season.

Is there anywhere you can go...

I live outside of Atlanta and I'm out doing some last minute Christmas shopping, because I'm bad at it... I have on an Indiana basketball shirt, so some guy comes over to me and starts showing me all of his Anti-UK stuff on his phone ( he thought I would like it due to my shirt.... Some of it was funny...) My wife walks over and glances at it and says yep our 9 year old calls them KensUcKy... And I'm going what the hell is going on here ....

    Hoosier Transfers and Recruiting Targets

I agree we're going to miss Luke, but I'm not sure on the details to know how much of this lies with Coach Crean.   From what I know, Coach was taken off guard by Luke's departure and it might have been too late to fix.   I guess the underlying rule is everything falls under the coach and it's his job to know and fix it.   Coach Knight let one of the greatest players of all time leave the program and he admits it was one of his biggest mistakes. From what I've read, I believe Coach Knight left that responsibility to the upperclassmen, which I believe has been part of our issue the last couple years. (lack of upperclassmen)... but clearly that model failed sometimes too.   This team would be a lot different with Luke, but Coach Dale said it best:   "I would hope you would support who we are. Not, who we are not. These six individuals have made a choice to work, a choice to sacrifice, to put themselves on the line 23 nights for the next 4 months, to represent you, this high school. That kind of commitment and effort deserves and demands your respect. This is your team."   Another Coach Dale quote that's relevant to this team "I've seen you guys can shoot but there's more to the game than shooting. There's fundamentals and defense."

    The nation's perspective on IUBB

I agree the sweet sixteen loss 2 years ago hurt a lot more than last season. I'm a Coach Crean supporter, but I'm not going to blah, blah, blah you with how I think he's going to get it done. The time is now and he needs to get it done with the team he's created. I really don't care what sub pattern or how he does it, but it needs to happen this year. Success = we get better throughout the year and make the NCAA tournament. (Minimum) Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners
  25. Not sure I can answer that question with the little time I've seen him play. If he's shown promise in practice, I would say give him more playing time during the game. My preference would be for him to get time vs Grand Canyon compared to being forced to play vs Georgetown.   The discussion is difficult, because we don't have all the information. The key one would be how he's performing in practice.   I'm hoping to see him play to see what he can bring to the table.   If the coaching staff does not think he's ready, I'm all for him sitting the pine (but I hope if that's the case) ==> our next viewing of AP is not vs a team like Georgetown.
