Deflections are actually a very important stat. The problem is the team allows too much dribble penetration without proper helpside. I would say that was actually better today. I would not highlight deflections when the overall defensive product stinks, but it's important all the same.
-
Coach Crean record at this point is not why I want him gone. I respect coach. I just don't like the product on the court. I don't like bad fundamental basketball. What Coach says or doesn't say at his post game presser is not the issue. He's trying to save his job and I hate to watch it, but I want a change. I would prefer to do it without bashing the guy who came here when a lot of coaches ran the other way.

I would change this thread topic to "How do we get Brad Stevens to IU?" His coming to IU might be as big as Coach Knight in the early 70's. He's the answer, so the administration needs to do everything possible to make it happen. Stevens to IU would make other teams really nervous. ...... I don't know if it's possible, but I hope everything is being done to try and make it happen. I like Tom Crean, but Coach Stevens is the answer to bringing back IU. Period.

I'm tired of watching IU. I'm tired of watching teams like NC, Syracuse, Louisville and UK doing well when I know they're doing it the wrong way.

Okay 2nd opportunity, but good lord we blocked the shot and it bounced right to a Duke player behind the 3 pt line. Good Lord.

Lol

And now we have to listen to ducky babble about nothing.
-
I can think of 3 or 4 offense rebounds that ended up 3 point makes for Duke. Other than Ingram (who Dicky has annotated the 2nd coming), we've done okay on defense. We need to go straight man and box out and pray the refs don't bail them out. NEED t REBOUND.
-
The Defense has not been as bad, but the rebounding has been awful. The one time we have a solid box out and we get called for a foul.

I'm not sure I know what IU basketball means anymore. "It's IU" - means nothing anymore. I'm slow and hard headed ... I think it just hit me .... -
The loss is not the end of the world, but how we lost was concerning. Poor defense, soft in the paint, no movement on offense when it counted and NOBODY step up. It's early, but I've done a 180 on this team. I thought this might be the year, but I'm not sure we're top 25 after that... Vandy looked like a top 10 team... I was hoping to see something similar from our guys ... A lot of basketball left and I hope this was just a small bump in the road ...

Hope all is well. Thank you for your service and hard work.

I'm sure of one thing. I don't have a clue what's going on. I'm not even sure when it's good to get a commitment. Or if you want the one and done or the 4 year guy or some mixture of that equation. I wish for the days of yesteryear when you read about it in the paper... Of course those days are when, I saw banners going up every 5 years .... Here's to more banners.... Yep. I don't know much these days, but I still can dream of another banner.

Old friend is a great person to have in a discussion. I like his style... RLTW He's not always right, but he has the "love of the game" always critical in the discussion. "Love it". He speaks his mind... Refreshing..,.

This might be an indication that's he's changing his recruiting methods and looking for B-Ball players and not freak athletes as his growth players. It looks like this young man might stay 4 years and contribute years 3/4. Who knows but I like shooters from Indiana, so I'm happy with the pickup. Typically these kids will be a weapon and have the IQ to help/not hurt in other areas. Like a lot of people have stated... Butler type recruit that I hate watching play for the Bulldogs.

Can people not just let a good thing happen? We have the opportunity to have an established IU writer give their insight and some of you want to get your pound of flesh. How about we let him settle in and concentrate on IU football... Recruiting these days is so fluid and if you watch twitter you have a decent idea of what's coming or not... Maybe this journalist does not want to throw darts at a board for a living ....?

Jordy was a leader. Don't care what number he filled on the court. Leadership needs to step up this year and I'm confident Yogi will show excellent leadership as a Senior.

Old Friend: I truly enjoy reading your posts....

Old friend - I too wish defense and fundamentals of setting a screen and ball movement matter. I'm not saying Coach Crean is the answer, but what I am saying results will be the determination... I've supported Coach in the past, but I've seen a lot over the past few years to make me think he might not be the answer. In regards to the off the court stuff, I'm not sure Knight would have handled it much differently from a public facing respect. I do believe behind closed doors would have been handled a whole lot different. I'm guessing most of the problem kids would have been gone after 6 months and I don't think DDavis is a bad kid.
-
Old friend - I don't disagree, but at the end of day all that's going to matter is results. I'm not happy with the off court crap over the last few years. I'm not sure I'm satisfied how the IU staff has handled it, but I believe at the end of the day results will determine Coach Crean tenure at IU. Right or wrong, I believe that will be the deciding factor.
-
In regards to coach, none of this matters. The only thing that will matter is the W/L and how deep we go into the tournament next year. For the hater's he can't win right now, he's still soft when he kicks two kids that he loves off the team. I'm a Coach Crean supporter, but he better go deep next year or we need to look elsewhere. At this point, I don't care what side of the fence you're on...we need results... The side of the fence may or may not determine how hard you cheer for next years team, but I'm guessing everyone will cheer for the team they love. You will cheer even if you think long term this is going to hurt my beloved Hoosiers.
