Illinois at IU Postgame Thread
ElectricBoogaloo replied to HoosierReb01's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't think Crean will have trouble recruiting big men if he has two straight years of them going as lottery picks (assuming Noah leaves). I agree that Noah needs more touches, but UI obviously planned to limit Noah offensively by collapsing 2 or 3 guys on him in the post. Noah also didn't do himself any favors with some unnecessary dribbles. -

Ideally, 2 guards can hit shots from outside, I agree with that. But on THIS team, Stan is our best 2 guard. That may change next year when JBJ arrives. My hope for JBJ is to have a Garry Harris-like freshman season. -

RE: Howard getting minutes: The announcers say stuff like he sets screens well (Can JH and HP not set screens?), plays good defense, etc. I thought his defense was average at best today to be honest. They made it a point to get Egwu the ball when Howard was guarding him. Howard is, at best, the statistical equivalent to a replacement level player. Surely Jeremy and Hanner have exceeded that midway through their second years? Don't get me wrong, my sphincter crushes diamonds every time Jeremy puts the ball on the floor. Maybe my expectations are too high for them though. RE: The turnovers: Against several opponents this year, we have turned the ball over on a quarter of our possessions. That is obscene. Turnovers definitely kill us at that rate. Edit: I'd also like to add that Stan Robinson was excellent on both ends of the floor tonight. He still takes more jump shots than we may like but he is the best 2-guard on the team. Austin Etherington - how good has he been? Definitely the kind of role player this team needs. We pegged him as a one dimensional shooter but he does so much more. I personally really enjoy his recent success. -
Randle has been behind Embiid for the past few weeks or so I believe. Noah is just the latest to possibly surpass him.

Brandon Dawson Out 4-6 Weeks

Why did he have to do this AFTER we played MSU both times already? -
Indiana's Remaining Schedule
ElectricBoogaloo replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yes, I would be surprised by a 3 game winning streak. We could easily lose all three of those next games. -

Agreed - and we know Crean doesn't have a good track record with project bigs. -
Indiana's Remaining Schedule

I don't know what this team is going to do anymore. I was banking that NW game as a win and trying to predict the season, but obviously that didn't work out. I can't say with any certainty that we'll beat Nebraska or lose to Michigan. Who effing knows. -

Does he help with recruiting in Chicago maybe? Hard to tell. -
Official IU vs Northwestern Game Thread

Yeah, Wisconsin doesn't really play zone so NW will be tougher to penetrate on the dribble drive. They might collapse the zone and dare us to shoot from outside, which could end badly. -

Football recruiting is so ridiculous. -
(2015) SG Luke Kennard off the board
ElectricBoogaloo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I think we'll be fine with JBJ assuming he's still around in 2015. Would really like one of the 4*/5* PGs we are going after in 2015 though. -

He also makes a great Mediterranean dish, Chicken Sharma. -

(2016) C Joey Brunk to Butler
ElectricBoogaloo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
"Brunk's skills are always improving despite being listed at 6-foot-10 now when he was 6-foot-6 just 18 months ago."' "Brunk's touch from six feet and closer is fantastic. He rarely misses a bunny- that can't be said for a lot of young bigs. He also finishes through contact well." "Another positive for Brunk's future is his frame. He's going to be able to get extremely strong once he stops growing. Adding strength will improve his athleticism." -

Looks like a really athletic big who can run the floor well. No wonder Crean likes him. -

Coach Crean's Game Plan
ElectricBoogaloo replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't know if they got stops so much as Wisconsin missed open 3 pointers. Our zone has always given away open threes. Crean took a risk, guessing they would shoot (and miss) those open threes earlier in the shot clock. It paid off this time. -
(2014) PG JaQuan Lyle to Oregon
ElectricBoogaloo replied to All_Hoosiers's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I think that's a characterization that's been blown out of proportion from a couple of widely reported incidents. https://twitter.com/NDkendrick/status/421858139407806464/photo/1 I'm no recruiting expert, but those who are seem to think very highly of him. I like that he's at prep school for a year too, should help him on and off the court. -

I, personally, would love to have Lyle. Not at the expense of JB or RJ though. -
Jeremy Hollowell.....
ElectricBoogaloo replied to FortWayneHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Logged on to say the same thing. JH is on the bench because he's been bad at basketball. Every time he puts the ball on the floor something bad happens. Troy Williams has turnover/shot selection issues as well and he ended up playing a total of 8 minutes after being a 30 mpg guy in the preseason. -

The 6-foot-5 guard mentioned Kansas, Oregon, West Virginia, Providence and Memphis as the schools that are recruiting him the hardest at the moment. He also said that homestate Indiana is no longer an option. “I can tell you that IU is off my list completely,” he said. “We don’t keep in contact any more.” http://ukrecruiting.bloginky.com/2014/01/10/lyle-cancels-kansas-visit-no-uk-or-uofl-contact/ -

The game has apparently been going on since 9:17 AM but, amazingly, no baskets yet.
