Bring in Tressel as the AD and Bo Pelini as the HC. IF we were going to throw money at someone, it should be Pelini. Still young, proven winner, has a chip on his shoulder, disciplined but players still love him, and he'd recruit the hell out of Ohio to build some highly ranked recruiting classes like Stoops has been able to do in Ohio with UK.

Can someone get Trent Green into coaching so he can be our Jim Harbaugh, or even Pat Fitzgerald? All joking aside, looking at this from the top down. Tom Herman HC of Houston and Justin Fuente HC of Memphis are the two top coaching prospects. No way they take a bottom tier P5 job, so cross them off. Same probably goes for ULL HC Mark Hudspeth who has rejected low tier P5 jobs in the past. Of course we are familiar with Rod Carey. Toledo HC Matt Campbell is the second youngest FBS head coach (36-years old), is 32-13 since 2012 and is 2-1 in bowl games. Of course Toledo is a top 20 team this season. Campbell was a defensive lineman and has an offensive line coaching background. The main question is: do we go the route of a top coordinator like we did with CKW? Or a top MAC/C-USA head coach? As far as CKW: it is put up or shut up time for him. The Maryland and Purdue games are very winnable, especially if Howard is back healthy. Does a six win season and a bowl loss get an extension? How about a seven win season with a bowl win? Does a five win season get Wilson fired?

This offense is so much fun to watch. We would have beat PSU last week if Suds was healthy. -
Indiana vs Rutgers Game Thread

Good to hear Suds ankle isn't the plant. Our offense is not the same if we do not have the ability to push the ball downfield for big gains. Jones and Cobbs have big play potential but we need our QB to be able to make the strong throws. Rutgers has a big play offense as well. We need to be able to shoot it out with them, if necessary. -
Analysis: Once again, it's all about the QB position for the Hoosiers
akhosrof replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I'm worried about the QB situation for next year with Suds gone. I hope we are in the market for a top JUCO or fifth year transfer to at least create some competition. Otherwise, that's a lot of pressure to put on Diamont and King. -
I'm starting to get scared about our QB situation for next season. It seems like CKW's offense needs a QB who has a strong arm that can attack the intermediate part of the field. I love Zander's competitiveness and athletic ability, but it appears he isn't a good fit for CKW's offense. Jones and Cobbs have downfield ability, but their talents have been wasted since Sudfeld hurt his ankle. Real shame, I was hoping for better today, but this offense doesn't have the same sort of firepower without a QB that can threaten all levels with his arm. We go to 9 conference games next year, so we lose an "easy" C-USA/MAC game. Either CKW is going to have to do a better job of building his offense around Zander's talents, or we better hope Austin King is ready and/or land a top JUCO/5th year transfer.

@MikeMillerHT: May have missed him, but don't see Jordan Howard on the field for warmups. All other RBs accounted for. #iufb -
Analysis: Was that the same defense we saw against Southern Illinois?

Indiana goes toe to toe with the top-ranked team in the nation
akhosrof replied to theronjohn1's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Zander looks like a much better player than last year. The broadcast mentioned he gained 30 pounds in the offseason. Didn't take away from his speed at all, as evident by the 79 yard TD run. He made some excellent throws, a couple of which were dropped. The throw on the last drive to Fuchs in the end zone was on the money, the deflection changed the trajectory making it a difficult catch. I have confidence in Zander if he has to start again. The game plan will be different. He will always have trouble throwing from the pocket because of his height, but he can move the pocket and he has the arm strength now to make some throws. Not to mention the receiver play is much better this year. We will not be one dimensional this year with Zander starting as compared to last year. I would much rather have Zander playing than a less than 100% Sudfeld. -
Incredible game. Most of all I am very impressed with the poise of this team and the fight. Despite the injuries, and giving up big plays, the team never rolled over. Most importantly, no turnovers (except the turnover on downs from the punt) and we had significantly less penalties than OSU. I don't have a problem with CKW's play calling at all. It is a shame Sudfeld got hurt. The offense looked really good before he aggravated his ankle. We were attacking the defense on all levels. After Sudfeld lost his lower body strength, the intermediate passing game was gone. Even before Sudfeld left the game, there were three or four drives that were pretty much wasted because he couldn't plant his foot and throw. If anything, Diamont should have come in earlier. Diamont looks heads and shoulders better than last season. He still doesn't have the arm to threaten the field like Sudfeld can, but I am confident we can win with Diamont this year. With a week of game planning, the passing game will not be anemic like last season. I have a feeling we will see a lot more passing off play-action, he's ready to make plays with his arm. Penn State won't know what hit them next week. Hope Howard gets better soon. The kid is tough as nails.

Someone needs to teach our o-line to react and draw the encroachment penalty if the defender crosses the neutral zone. Regardless, this team is looking incredible! It helps having a strong 6'6" 240 pound QB that can throw the ball in inclement weather. -
Hypothetically speaking, if we beat OSU, how high of a ranking could we get?

Analysis: The significance of a 4-0 start
akhosrof replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I don't think the significance of our 4-0 start can be overstated in regards to recruiting either. I read on Twitter there will be a lot of recruits at this game. The game will be sold out, if we can simply play OSU close, many prospects are going to take notice and want to look into, and possibly be a part of, what CKW is building. -
Analysis: The significance of a 4-0 start

I think we are good enough to hear PSU, UMD, Rutgers and Purdue. Bottom line is we have a better QB then all of these teams, and an excellent running game. All of these teams have had QB struggles during the season. On a side note, this team isn't built to protect a lead by milking the clock. We need to stay in attack mode. -
Game Thread - Indiana @ Wake Forest
akhosrof replied to MartintheMopMan's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Defensive line is getting a great jump on the snap count. Definitely taking advantage of the freshman QB's cadence. -
I still need to see some sort of consistency from IUFB. If we beat Wake next week then I'm going to be very excited for this coming season. :) Cannot have a letdown game.
-
This is a huge win no doubt. IMO WKU is a top 35-40 team. Their offense is one of the best in the nation and Doughty is an absolute stud. WKU is a much better team than Wake Forest. Our season hinges on consistency, we cannot have a let down game against a Wake team we should beat. I am confident we will be able to run the ball all over Wake and control the clock. Don't want to get ahead of myself, but this game shows me that we have what it takes to beat PSU, UMD and Rutgers, while putting up a good fight against Michigan and Iowa. We need our young guys on defense to grow during the season and keep running the ball! Football is a QB's game, and we have a very good one behind a great line with two excellent running backs. WRs have been a very pleasant surprise so far. IMO, we have a better QB and line than many teams we will face this year, which means we'll always have a chance.
