One more thought on the pUKe game for anyone who has friends/family/enemies that are pUKe fans and you want to send a zinger. Shannon Dawson, UK's OC last season was fired this offseason. The guy was completely thrown under the bus and blamed for all of UK's offensive problems. Dawson is now the OC for Southern Miss... http://kentuckysportsradio.com/football-2/shannon-dawson-got-a-gatorade-bath-after-the-game/ Finally the best pUKe troll might be by former football coach Hal Mumme: http://kentuckysportsradio.com/football-2/hal-mummes-facebook-status-isnt-making-us-feel-any-better/

Wow can't believe UK lost. My lil bro is an alum and a huge fan. I noticed the texts stop coming in. I figured it was a blowout. Probably won't text him for a few days... Overall very weak day for the SEC.

Of course he would never leave. He's on the hot seat this season. Given Sumlin is an alum, I'm sure their new AD would go after Sumlin if he got fired.

Texas AandM scores the OT upset against Top 20 UCLA. Rather see AandM win and Sumlin stay there so Purdon't doesn't get him.

I'm so tired of SEC fans riding the coat tails of Alabama and claiming they are the best conference. Miss State lost to Southern Alabama today, South Carolina nearly lost to Vanderbilt (albeit Vandy is well coached and improved), and Tennessee nearly lost to Appalachian State. I'm rooting for Wisconsin, even if they have annoying accents.

This Wisconsin LSU game is lit. Just heard 20K LSU fans there in Wisconsin. Incredible. The rest are Wisconsin fans (60k or so). Sold out. Love these opening weekend match ups at "neutral" sites.

I've heard a rumor that Texas is supporting Houston to the Big 12. Something about UT buying land in Downtown Houston for a UT Campus in exchange for sponsoring UH membership? I agree though the conference would be dumb not to add UH. They've proven they can compete. Along with BYU IMO.

The first half of the game has lived up to the hype. Lit atmosphere in Houston. The Big XII would be smart to grab Houston, along with BYU IMO. Both schools would strengthen the conference.
  10. It's different this year, Coach Allen is the real deal. Along with Coach Hagen, we've never had this level of quality coaching on the defensive side of the ball. Kudos to CKW for helping out with the offensive position coaches and trusting Coach Allen with the defense so we can have an extra defensive coach.

Dominique Booth's IU Career Is...Not? Done

Sad to see his IU playing career is over. Dominique was a huge four star get for us, in state nonetheless. However, it is very nice to see that he is happy staying on and that he'll graduate from IU and always be a Hoosier! I hope that he does awesome on the field at his new school (unless it's against us) and possibly get a master's degree since he has two years of eligibility remaining.

Post Game Discussion: Indiana 34 - FIU 13

Good points, Tim. Sudfeld had a few slow starts as well in his career, especially with accuracy. Looking ahead, the Ball State game will probably be more difficult than the Wake Forest game. Wake's offense looked absolutely anemic (178 total yards) versus Tulane's defense (albeit Tulane has a pretty good defense). But Tulane had a ten minute TOP advantage and rushed the ball 47 times. They only had 146 yards and couldn't get into the end zone, but if we get 40+ rushes, imagine what our rushing attack and B1G's best offensive line will do to them? The Ball State game will be a great test for our secondary. Hopefully we'll have a pretty lit crowd.

Post Game Discussion: Indiana 34 - FIU 13

On the Oakes missed field goal: the broadcast showed CKW and other coaches pulling Ian Thomas aside immediately. I am not sure if he gave up a pressure or missed an assignment that lead to the miss. Loved what I saw out of the defense! We let up one big rush and one big pass play (not for TDs!), but we made FIU work for every other yard and were tight in the redzone. Got three turnovers as well, that's our formula for success. From a technical standpoint, it was great seeing guys not completely out of position and assignment like we have the past few seasons. Coach Allen looks to have good communication. On offense: we rushed the ball 52 times. Redding averaged over 6 yards with 22 carries. Team didn't have a run over 20 yards. The offensive line will be solid, but will we have a guy that can break longer runs? Tevin could. Jordan Howard didn't have great speed but he could bull through the second level and get 20-30 yard runs consistently. I like Redding and Majette a lot but here's to hoping Camion Patrick heals quick. No ways around it, Lagow looked rough in the beginning. Good to see his success on the last two drives, but he's going to need to settle down and set on his throws. Accuracy is not there yet, and he was late on many passes, but he threw some strikes downfield. He seems to have good chemistry with Nick Westbrook. We need to get Ricky Jones more involved. Getting Cobbs back will help a lot.

    Stephen Houston

Stephen gets a lot of work. Ravens are beat up at RB. Rookie RB Kenneth Dixon from Louisiana Tech was looking like a stud before tearing his MCL last week. Terrance West has been the next impressive guy, and Justin Forsett has been less than impressive so far. If Stephen can play special teams, he has a shot of making the team while Dixon is out (3-5 weeks). #RunningbackU

    For IUFB to go Bowling..

The formula is there from last year: - Continue the discipline on offense to take care of the ball and aggressiveness for takeaways on defense that allowed us to be the #1 team in the B1G for turnover differential. - Win the games we are supposed to: FIU, BSU, WFU, UMD, RU and PU. That's six games and we are in a bowl. - Bend but don't brake on defense. We will give up rush yards, but we need to make sure those long rushes don't go for TDs. Play tight in the redzone.

If we win 9-10 games next season any SEC opening will be sure calling CKW. He's a southern boy who has been successful recruiting Florida and Georgia kids to Indiana. Imagine what he could do in the SEC. Luckily Florida, Georgia and South Carolina have all recently filled head coaching jobs. I think those are the among the few hypothetical dream jobs that CKW would value at the top of his list (along with UNC I would imagine). Either way, we win 9-10 games Glass better be ready to open the checkbook again if he wants to starve off inquiring schools.

Thompson, I'm predicting 7-5 as well. Exact same predictions except flip NW and PSU. I think we get hot at the end of the year as Lagow gets better and the home game against PSU is a better chance to win than at NW coming off of the toughest stretch of our season. I'm with you though, we could easily win between 5-9 games, so much is unknown with how good Lagow will be.

I'm ready for 2016 IU Football

We lack depth on the interior defensive line but I'm looking at the back seven and seeing some solid talent as backups. Thornton, Cook, Simmons, Brown, Sykes all have playing experience and figure to be heavy in rotation this season. Then we get Thompson back from injury who was showing playmaking ability prior to going down. Run defense may give up some yards, but if we can prevent the long run TD (our weakness last season), we should be able to continue to play tight in the redzone and get turnovers in the secondary and forcing fumbles. I like what we have to work with this season.

Good question, he was a four star recruit, ESPN Top 200 out of HS. I remember reading he was scout team player of the week a few times last season, so it's good to see he is working hard. Is Hawkins too big for the slot? The scouting report on him said he is very quick and could make people miss.

I don't think Glass has anything to worry about with his last two tweets as we don't host OSU this season. Although, Glass might have been better served directing his tweet at the PSU football Twitter handle[emoji1]

    The koolade is wearing off.

Yeah Johns all but named Lagow the starter. Encouraging to hear the progress he's made. Lagow could be a player who gets significantly better as the season goes on as he learns from game experience. The out of conference games will be important getting him ready for MSU. His potential is just too much to pass up to not give him an extended shot. Man I am pumped!

    The koolade is wearing off.

I don't think we have enough information to judge either QB yet. We don't know how polished or unpolished Lagow is, nor do we know how improved Zander's arm strength is. There isn't much practice footage out there, and reporters haven't been given much field access. The first three non-conference games will be a huge opportunity for our offense to get on track. We just have to trust CKW will choose the right guy. Even if Lagow is streaky, the big play ability he showed in the spring game justifies his place as the starter. With our receivers, we just need a guy who can put it down field for our guys to make a play on the ball. I'm not worried...
