Alford? lmao

That isn't terribly likely given that Bo never offered him plus if you transfer within the conference you have to pay your own way. Sounds like he was homesick. I'd guess Marquette as his next destination but that is just a wild guess on my part.

Did NBA scouts really have him rated that highly though? -
Is Coach Mallory Gone Soon?
bronkonagurski replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
If Coach Wilson is sticking with Doug Mallory, I'll say this much. I'm not going to give up on the 2014 season and I'm not going to stop watching the games. But I will be fully expecting to see adequate defensive improvement to support CKW's apparent confidence in Doug. If the defense is just as bad or even worse, then I won't be too pleased with that. We'll see I guess. -
USA Today says that IU FB Coach is the 6th hardest job in sports
bronkonagurski replied to HoosierReb01's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
It is an oddly constructed list. Indiana football is neither a high profile nor high stress job. Putting IU in a category with those other sports teams is just bizarre. It has historically been an extremely difficult program to win at but the peer comparison is out of whack. -
I have resolutions but mine are daily resolutions, not New Years Resolutions. Most of mine are weight, attitude and stress related. -Hit the gym for at least 20-30 minutes per day. -Focus on each meal and snack decision and try to make the healthy decision 9 times out of 10. -More water, less sodas. -Less road rage. -Less stressing about things I cannot control. -More positive thinking and appreciating the good things in my life. Finally, I would simply state that I hope nobody sets a New Years Resolution and then gives up on it after a bad day, a bad week or even a bad month. Don't quit, push through it. When the going is tough, just focus on each day and each moment. It is never too late to get back on track. Happy Holidays!

Rapid Reacton IU vs. 2nd to last cupcake
bronkonagurski replied to mdn82's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Notre Dame was up 8 points with 58 seconds left and they started playing like Fat Tony had money on OSU to win. That was an ugly collapse. I do not doubt that ND is a decent team. I just question our ability to beat decent teams right now. -
Rapid Reacton IU vs. 2nd to last cupcake
bronkonagurski replied to mdn82's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We look like a NIT team. I'm not even being emotional or angry about it. I need to see us step up to some challenges in Big Ten play to change my mind. And I hope that happens. -
The kindler, gentler Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall thread
bronkonagurski posted a topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
At least I hope so? So the donor turns out to be the daughter of the late Mel Simon. The new name sounds awkward, yes. But...honestly...I reckon this won't be popular after reading the locked thread but the renaming just doesn't not bother me at all. My initial reaction to the blaring headline on the IndyStar was, huh? Read more about it. I'm glad they are going to be able to renovate the stadium. For tradition's sake, well quite frankly the place as it stands right now isn't pristine in upholding past tradition. I had student basketball tickets at IU for 5 seasons. I attended over 50 games in that place. The Assembly Hall I remember didn't have the advertisement boards. It had the old school, classy scoreboard hovering over center court. Not that monstrosity that is there now. Then the way they totally redid the banners after RMK left. In terms of tradition, from where I am coming from, slapping a donor's name on the building doesn't rank that high on my list of things to be frustrated about. In fact it is probably right at the bottom of my list of changes to Assembly Hall that I don't really care for since I graduated in 1999. Overall I'm glad that Mel's daughter has chosen to bless our basketball program with this outstanding donation. That is my take and I'm not saying that to be politically correct about it. I respect that it upsets other IU fans. I just wanted to share my own honest opinion and hopefully give the discussion a reboot. :ninja: -
Geez what did I miss? :ninja:

Indiana vs Notre Dame Post-Game Thread

Not a fan of the weave myself either. It seems to just waste time on the shot clock and leave us pressing to find a good shot as the clock winds down. -

I agree with this. I don't think he is playing with a selfish intent, I think he is trying to make plays to win games.

Yogi seems to be better at creating his own shots than creating for others. I was expecting him to be more a true point guard who gets the ball to guys in the right spots. Not sure what to make of it. Definitely looking like a bubble team, things are going to be really tough in Big Ten play. -

Is Coach Mallory Gone Soon?
bronkonagurski replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I don't think Coach Wilson is making any decisions based on the wishes of the fans. What is going to matter is what feedback, if any, he gets from Fred Glass. For CKW to retain Mallory in his current role would require quite a bit of conviction on his part. -
Fair enough.

He is a stubborn man and the people that wronged him are in the grave. So no, I don't blame IU for him continuing to refuse to come back. The current administration has reached out to him, he has declined. So be it. That is on him, not the university. Indiana University is bigger than Bob Knight. He is not Herman B. Wells. He was a very successful basketball coach. That doesn't make him bigger than the school.
-
I disagree. Every individual involved in his firing is either dead or no longer employed by Indiana University. To continue to hold that grudge is absolutely childish and he has no reason other than extreme stubbornness to avoid being HONORED by IU. Yes Bobby, we aren't inviting you back to stone you. We want to honor you. You continue to stubbornly decline. That is on you.

I realize everyone loves the history of Assembly Hall but man, having attended 50+ games in that place as a student, there are so many really horrible seats and viewing angles. I honestly would not mind if they built a new Assembly Hall from scratch which apparently isn't the plan but I just wanted to chime in here.
