Nobody likes Iowa. Not even Iowa fans like Iowa. . There is more than corn in Indiana. There is nothing but corn in Iowa. The gauntlet has been laid down. -

Probably. I have ESPN3 on my XBOX1 so I'll probably tune in on there. -
I'll take the mods here over the clowns at 247 any day of the week.

No. One of Izzo practically running into a Michigan kid during their recent game in Ann Arbor. -

You ever watch Tom Izzo coach a game? If nothing else CTC is emulating his mentor! ;) Coaches in general get on the court a lot. Occasionally they get called on it by the refs but not too often. -
IU fans stay supportive and look to next year.

I'd feel better about this season if I felt like the team has improving steadily heading into March but it still just seems so random to me. We still lose so many games the same way we have all season long. The inspired wins like vs Wisky and vs Michigan seem like aberrations. I'm sticking by the observation that our hopes for next season are going to be made or broken by the work these kids do over the summer, not what happens from here on out. If these kids bust ass and develop improved chemistry and cohesiveness over the summer months, that is a strong start to get backing on track. -
What was the point of activating Hanner?
bronkonagurski replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Regarding Jeremy, I'm still not sure what I truly believe. I felt like the "lack of focus" talk was a codeword for something other than play on the court but of course I'm open to being wrong on that account. Honestly I was very surprised that Hanner was back on the court so soon. I'm just not sure I interpet it the same way as others. I definitely don't see it as a win-at-all-costs move. Hanner's minutes and role on this team has already been limited, I have a hard time believing Crean brought him back sooner simply to try and beat Wisconsin. I think it is fair to have questions about Tom's handling of this situation but at the same time I think it is going a bit far to start comparing him to Sampson all of a sudden. As best as I can tell, Tommy has run a mostly tight ship his first 5 seasons but all of sudden in Year 6 he has lost control? Eh. It isn't a stretch to speculate this team as a whole might lack maturity both on and off the court in certain ways but I certainly don't feel like I'm cheering for a bunch of punks. -

Ceiling For The Rest of The Season??
bronkonagurski replied to Hoosierfan1990's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
At 18-13 I honestly think we would need to advance to Sunday in the BTT to secure a bid. Maybe 20-14 would be good enough, I dunno. -

It should be a good game but the fact Syracuse just lost kind of takes my interest out of it. I mean I'd still watch but with IU and the Pacers playing tonight I have a hard time getting too caught up in it. -

This game is a must-win for any kind of post-season play. NCAA or NIT. We need at least two more wins to even qualify for the NIT. If this team is going to pump any kind of life back into this season, tonight is the time to do it. -
Best thoughts and wishes to Peter. :(

Yet somehow I can't imagine that same individual had any problem with RMK acting "bigger than the program". Hypocrisy, double standards, etc.

"It's Indiana". Tom knew what he was getting into. Criticism comes with the job at any traditionally successful basketball program. Message board commentary isn't what gets coaches fired. The fan base has nothing to do with the struggles this program has faced this season. 10th place in the Big Ten, 331st or so in turnover margin, 14-11 overall...these are not numbers that would be very well accepted anywhere else. Tom will have his opportunity to turn it around.

The Other Meet and Greet Thread or Something
bronkonagurski replied to Rayl's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Meaning behind username: It is my original handle from the scout.com network. I initially signed up for a Bears message board on there so I chose a legendary Bears player as my username. I've ended up keeping the same handle across other IU message boards. Approximate Age and Location: Late 30's, Fort Wayne IN. Are you a born and raised IU fan? Yes. When you first knew you were an IU fan? 1986 as I followed IU through a full season for the first time and they just happened to win it all. ;) What sports did you play in High School and College? Played football in high school. Besides IU, favorite sports teams? Bears, Cubs, Blackhawks, Pacers. Did you attend IU? Yes, class of 1999. What is your favorite IU Basketball Memory? The 1987 championship run. Who is your favorite basketball player of all time? From an Indiana standpoint, Calbert Cheaney. From any other standpoint, Reggie Miller. What is your favorite IU Football memory? Beating Ohio State and Michigan in the same season back in 1987. Who is your favorite IU Football player? Randle-El. He was so electric and he was the man for most of my college years. The team never lived up to the hype but Antwaan did all he could. Best IU Sports game ever attended? The game where IU beat Temple at Assembly Hall on a late three pointer by AJ Guyton. I was sitting directly underneath the 1987 championship banner for that game. It was a thrilling finish to witness live! What brings you to this board? Familiar faces and I got frustrated with the 247 board. -
Tim calling in now, asking what coaches can do to work on the turnover situation. "That's something we have not covered at all in practice," Crean deadpans. Crean keeps the deadpan going for a full minute, with the crowd here laughing. "I could sub more, but maybe you'll boo me if I sub more."

Scouting a potential Crean replacement
bronkonagurski replied to kylehornsbyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
If all you want is a caretaker and not an upgrade, why even make a change at all? -
Newton never played for RMK. Sherron Wilkerson was arrested and subsequently kicked off the team. That happened when I was in school. I'm pretty sure both Pat Knight and Richard Mandeville got in bar fights in Bloomington...I think Pat got arrested and faced consequences from his father. In Richard's case, I am not sure. I just remember that he was involved in a scuffle.

Scouting a potential Crean replacement

The lists people are coming up with so far are not inspiring at all. -
Well, if you are keeping the dream alive then the Iowa game is a 100% must win.

This summer is what will make or break this team. These kids need to really work hard and bust their tails. I tend to believe Yogi will use his leadership role to make this happen.
