WR Isaac Griffith in critical condition
bronkonagurski replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
The comments section of pretty much any website anywhere is full of the worst of the worst. I would highly recommend not reading the comments to any article lest you let the trolls damage your faith in humanity. -
WR Isaac Griffith in critical condition
bronkonagurski replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Great news, happy to hear it! -
Frustrated with my 3-7 and 2-2 squares. Hopefully I get a couple hits tomorrow so I am riding house money.

What would this place look like
bronkonagurski replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Eh, reminds me more of the PSU game in Bloomington. Honestly I expected us to lose at Purdue. I didn't expect us to lose at home to PSU, let alone with the lead we held in the final minutes of that game. That loss was a solid left hook to my jaw. -

I love the smell of fresh napalm in the morning. -
It is cool how they re-animated the corpse of Steve Fisher to allow him to coach SDSU in recent years.

Who is the unfrozen caveman playing for NMSU?

Could this season be a good thing?
bronkonagurski replied to coonhounds's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Good thing, bad thing, G thing. Live, learn, get better. A lot of improvement in 2014-15 will help me forget 2013-14 rather quickly. -
OMGWTFBBQ!

Woohoo go NMSU!

I have a hard time taking that article very seriously when the guy actually claims IU fans hampered the recruiting efforts of Mike Davis. So the fans are the reason Mike didn't recruit the state hard enough? I recall Rodney Carney stating that he would have loved to play for IU if they had ever recruited him. Did the fans cause Mike Davis to send the wrong recruiting letter to Mike Conley Jr who just happened to be part of a package deal with a very important Indiana recruit named Greg Oden? I mean really? The fans are to blame for Mike not recruiting better? Let alone coaching up to the max what he actually had to work with. After the 2002 title game run it was hard to find anything terribly impressive about his coaching. Remember (not 100% who it was but possibly Bracey Wright) stating after a road loss that Davis only had ONE PLAY for attacking a zone defense? Message boards are going to be message boards. Indiana's boards are not unique in terms of criticism when a team is under performing. Now when people go out on social media and tweet/message things directly to players and/or recruits, that stuff I can do without. What recruits is Crean missing out on because of fans? Trey Lyle didn't de-commit due to a message board. Gary Harris didn't commit to MSU due to a message board. Sure, I have no problem believing kids read the boards. But it is naive to act like IU boards are the only boards that get harshly negative when things are rolling downhill. Overall I think the guy could have made his point a lot more effectively and the way he did so, it makes me laugh a bit more than anything. YOU DIRTY FANS HOLDING DOWN THESE COACHES. I mean the stuff that leaked about Mike Woodson, I thought that was distasteful. But rumors on message boards don't make national news like that. If the blog writer wants to be upset if the high roller boosters are putting these kinds of rumors out there, that is a separate issue. But his rant seems to be about everything in general about the fans and on that note, his argument just falls flat to me. * - footnote - I am not a Crean hater and I don't want him fired. I still think he can succeed here and win a banner but I also have my concerns and doubts at times.

I don't hate Mike. I'm rooting for the Mustangs because they are a bunch of nerds. Go nerds!

Who are you pulling for...
bronkonagurski replied to CampHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm rooting for two things, in the following order: 1) As many upsets as humanly possible. 2) My bracket. #1 does work against #2 but I don't care. I'd almost rather not do well in my bracket if it means a ton of insanity. The bracket is just there as a possible bonus if things don't get as crazy. -
Fred Glass Interview (CBI, Mike Woodson, IU Scheduling)
bronkonagurski replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Overall I think Fred has been doing a great job at as the AD at Indiana and is easily the best AD for IU that I can recall since I started following the team in the mid-to-late 80's. Doesn't mean he is above criticism for certain things but he has been a tremendous asset to my alma mater and I really do appreciate it. In fact, what is his e-mail address anyways? I want to send him an e-mail. -
I'm excited to see how much the 2013 kids improve from Year 1 to Year 2. Troy in particular since I believe he can be Oladipo-esque.

Devil's Advocate: Indiana's Schedule
bronkonagurski replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The padded win total is negated by the horrible effect on SOS by scheduling those teams. Beef up the OOC schedule. Doesn't have to go crazy in the opposite direction but I agree with the folks who state the purpose of the OOC games should be to prepare the team better for Big Ten play and if that means sacrificing a couple OOC wins to achieve that tougher schedule, so be it. Take off the training wheels and let them get their nose bloodied a little. -
For those wondering why Indiana would turn down the CBI...
bronkonagurski replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
On other sites I see people allegedly angry that we turned down the CBI. I really don't get it. This team hasn't been able to improve or show any consistency from start to finish, what would this half-bit tournament against mediocre competition provide? Nothing, absolutely nothing. What is going to help this team improve going forward is working hard during the off-season. Work hard, get better. That is it. There is nothing left for the 2013-14 season to offer that is going to make these guys one bit better. -
Vonleh Leaning Towards NBA Draft
bronkonagurski replied to HoosierRob's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Not shocking. Although I must say if the talk about Noah sitting out to protect his draft status is true, major loss of respect there. -
Stability by itself is not a reason to avoid change, I agree. It is a bit more complex than that. I also don't want to see us poison the well of potential candidates by acting rashly if we don't really know our guy is out there and ready to sign on the dotted line. If and when Glass does the pull the trigger, I expect the entire decision to be well though out and researched and not just, well we have to fire this guy because the rich folks say so and then entrust our program in whatever random "IU guy" is willing to take the job. I'm always a bit amused by reading posts where people are willing to entrust our program to guys like Cheaney or Fife or whoever. Nothing against those guys, but I'd like to think our program has enough luster to pursue proven head coaches and not just gambling on the next big thing. And limiting the search to an "IU guy" seems awfully short-sighted given that the greatest coach in our history was not an IU guy at all until he took the job.

I can't stand Laf at all so I hope you aren't trying to take my comments and paint me with same brush. Based on my past experience he is 10 times more annoying than the most ardent anti-Crean message board poster. I never feel embarrassed by what people choose to discuss on a sports message board. I don't care if you like Crean or hate Crean, this kind of thing getting national press feels embarrassing. This isn't about message boards.
-
You don't make a move on Crean right now unless you absolutely, 100% know the RIGHT GUY to replace him is there and is already interested through back channels. And to me, that right guy is NOT Mike Woodson. Firing Crean for one bad season following the results he got the previous two seasons, that doesn't sit right with me. I'm far from a Crean apologist, I am realistic about his flaws. But he absolutely should get another season at the very least. Personally I feel embarrassed as a fan and alumni of Indiana University to see this kind of story/rumor/whatever being put out there in the national media. It is Mickey Mouse BS in my humble opinion. Whoever fed this "info" to the NY paper should be ashamed of themselves.

The easiest way to pick out someone with a small mind is when they respond to a non-political disagreement with a political response.

Official BTT - Indiana vs Illinois Game Thread
bronkonagurski replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'd take our 2011-12 and 2012-13 teams against any of the teams Knight fielded during my 5 years in school (1994-1999) and I'd love Crean's chances.
