We just got a crystal ball pick from someone for Gant. I would be ecstatic about this pick up. Best option available besides transfers.
the guy who made it doesn't seem to have much history with the crystal ball so it's hard to attribute much credibility to it. But still a positive :) Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

There are many possible explanations for this. When you assume you make an ass out of you and me :) But yeah still not a reassuring sign lol. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

But this just means Indiana is a recruiting hot bed for the entire country. Many in this forum want Crean to "lock down the borders", but is it really ideal for us to spend the amount of time it would take to do that and keep out the rest of the country, or just continue to go hard for one or two and then recruit elsewhere? (2014) SF Josh Cunningham to Bradley
Crean lands McD's All Stars and people are complaining that he needs to recruit 3 and 4 year guys, then he lands 3 and 4 year guys and people will complain that he's not landing McD's All Stars. It's no win. Crean isn't the greatest in-game coach, but he has shown the ability to bring in talent.. If you want to knock anything, knock him for making questionable substitution calls and rotating 10-12 guys in any given game. I'd get on board with that. As far as Josh Cunningham, I'm predicting he's a Hoosier next season.
half the people in here will be upset if he commits because then they won't be able to rip on Crean for losing him lol. I hope you're right. I'd like to start getting some solid 4 year players. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
He wouldn't be able to do that. Unless we have coaches quitting Crean cannot make him top assistant. He is our recruiting director and a fine one at that. Don't get me wrong, if he went to Maryland it is to recruit. It is sort of like what the Cubs had to do with Theo Epstein to get him away from Boston, but he is still the GM even if his title and pay don't show it. Assistants don't typically last forever unless you are the right hand man. KJ will probably be no different.
I meant money. I see your point though. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
I never said anything about lesser programs. The poster said we should not think anything is wrong with Creans recruiting just because Cunningham picks Bradley or South Carolina over Indiana. To which I responded that it isn't just Cunningham. Shall I give you a list of all of the players we have whiffed on since our last commitment? I would think as an Indiana fan, you would understand our recruiting situation.
As an Indiana fan, I understand that 3 McDAA's and 10 ESPN 100 recruits in 3 years is a pretty good track record. We've won significant recruiting battles against programs with much more success. With JBJ we won against UK, UM, MSU and KU. Rojo: UNC. Vonleh: Cuse, UConn, GTown, UNC, OSU, KU. Troy: UNC, UL, OSU. Yogi: Butler and Florida. Let's weigh our successes against our defeats. I'd still say we've come out on top. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
It's not just Cunningham.
What players have spurned IU for lesser programs? OSU has been much better in regard to Tourney success and the development of big men. Yante Marten picked a school where he could be a stud instead of a bench player. We took Rob Johnson from UNC, and landed top talent from the East Coast in TW, Stan and NV. Lots of players have chosen Crean and IU over programs that have experienced better recent success.
I 100% agree. I wish that we weren't in a position that we had one player on the roster over 6'8. I mean, it's not Crean's tendency to leave schollys open, so may as well add some depth to the front court... Right? Absolutely agree though that ideally we wouldn't be reaching for talented bigs late in the cycle Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
We definitely need someone, but I would like to see a scholarship or two saved for the 2015 class. We get excited anytime a 6'8" kid may become available, but are they quality players? @jerrymeyer247: Remember in spring recruiting that the urgency created by low supply and high demand increases the value of the recruit. Still same player. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
I'm in the camp that doesn't worry about transfers. We read a lot about IU on this board and on various sites, but when you read about other programs and college basketball as a whole you can get a better picture of where the game is at right now. Transfers are a growing trend in college basketball to the point where every program should expect to lose a player to transfer pretty much every season. Go check out the transfer list that Jeff Goodman always keeps... it's absurd how many kids leave their schools. The numbers will continue to grow, especially with the grad transfer rules and kids getting waivers to play right away. Plus all the turnover with coaches means kids are going to continue to jump ship when their coach leaves/gets fired.
I'm of the exact same opinion. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
People are pretty quick to forget that Crean pulled Remy Abell from Bradley... and there are many people on this board that are pissed he isn't still on the IU roster.
This is a great example of, in my opinion, an issue with overselling your program to recruits. If you have to beg them to come, are they really going to be happy here for four years? Could add to the transfer list everyone was so upset about. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
I'll support it. He's most likely pulling it directly from another premium site, but so am I. I don't know how everyone feels about it over here (I've been cautioned on other boards in the past, which I think is fair), but the source of that information is the top dog at another recruiting site and only paying members have access to it. EDIT: By "feels about it," I meant sharing information you get here that you paid to read somewhere else.
That's fine. Stating that you are pulling the info from someone with actually credibility (aka a premium board admin) is support enough. I don't like people who don't have legitimate sources and credibility posing as insiders. Thanks for clearing up the confusion about the legitimacy of his statement. "If they don't want to be a Hoosier, then we're better off without them." This is a type of quote I have heard over and over in my time as an IU fan. I know we're in a situation where we are desperate for bodies, but why change our perspective now? Cunningham doesn't seem to be sold on what Indiana has to offer, so let's move on to the next guy.
