(2017) QB Hunter Johnson to Tennessee to Clemson

On name alone, the kid would look good in Cream and Crimson. I hope to hell he comes around to thinking the sun sets in Wilson's ass. We need more talent on this team. -
Indiana vs Northwestern Post Game Thread
TrueHoosier62 replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Deep breaths my friend, deep breaths. Everyone has their opinion and way of expressing it, and more often than not, it isn't provided or intended to rile people. I think most people of late have soured on Crean, so there's a natural paradox of supporting IU for wins in the tournament, yet not wanting those wins to be used as evidence, (and by extension, justification) for retaining his services. On a side note, bumper stickers with the phrase "Sour Crean" is catchy. Whatcha think? -
It's because no-one's body was used to this strange thing called "defense". Actually, the way it unfolded, it was just plain, sh*tty luck.

Prediction League Post Season Game #2 IU vs Maryland (06/13/15)

Hoosiers: 82 Salmonella carriers: 69 With Hanner out tonight, I see a couple post players having a better than average evening. Shots should still be falling. -
I'm sorry, but this is a bit of a false analogy. For starters, it would be highly unlikely that the proprietor of a Dental office would hear chants directed towards his/her son during a basketball game. What would be their beef?; residual plaque and tartar after an otherwise thorough cleaning, poor flossing techniques? Tom Crean is the head coach of the state's flag ship university for basketball, in a state that revere's basketball almost as much as Christianity. His "product" happens to be far below standards, and his personality is usually defensive, dismissive, arrogant, or all of the above. It doesn't mean that students should embarrass a coach's son, but it does explain it, and it should have given Tom and his wife cause to beware of such occurrences, given the circumstances. If I'd been Tom, I should have made very little of the incident, (for obvious reasons, I most certainly would not have addressed it with the principle, or the students ), and only if his son broached the subject, would I have discussed it. Just my opinion.

Indiana vs Northwestern Post Game Thread

Good win for IU, but it begs as many questions as it answers. *Where has this new found defensive effort been for the past 12 weeks? *Why did it take a heated posterior to play a flawed, yet effective man to man? *Did Tom Crean call on one of his famous friends to speak to the team before tip off? *Were any Bloomington South students in attendance at last night's game? Again, good win for IU, and nice to see a semblance of defense played. Duplicate that effort today, hit your shots, and we beat Maryland. -
Given how his knee bent inward from the side, I'd say a torn ACL, but I'm no doctor, though I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

Is this the worst defensive team in IU history?
TrueHoosier62 replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The reason why a lot of teams don't press is that the energy expended to play that frenetic style, takes away from the energy needed to play offense and basic half court defense. I don't remember Knight ever utilizing a full court press, but then, his teams didn't need to, as they would kick your ass in the half court. Iowa, under Lute Olsen, and later, George Raveling, used to full court press people to death, but those teams could shoot for sh*t, so they had to make up for it by getting steals and making layups. When Knight coached, his teams were so darned well conditioned that they could play excellent half court defense without it adversely affecting the productivity of their motion offense. -

I used the 3 point shot only, as it's such a high percentage of our offense. I've broken them down in to five game increments, (save one stretch of six games as the schedule wasn't equally divisible), then showed the average shooting % and won loss record for each stretch. One of the first things that stood out to me, (though hardly surprising) was the diminishing percentage rates from the first Purdue game onward. Though we had an occasional spike, overall, the numbers began to fall, regardless of the level of competition. This would suggest, since three point accuracy is so tied to endurance, particularly one's legs, that we're tired. As one might expect, the better the defensive team we play, the worse our shooting percentage. Northwestern is really not very good at defending the 3-pt. shot, ranking about dead last in the conference. If we get our legs back, we might have a good game. There's a fairly strong correlation between our hitting the 40% mark in 3 point accuracy, and getting the win. Anything less than say .365, and things don't always turn out so well. -

Was thinking along similar lines. "We used to be known for our defense. Now we're known for our defense". Think about it. -

Potential fallout from coaching change

I know many people won't like this next analysis, but this program reminds me of an alcoholic. Tom Crean is the family lush, constantly inebriated, constantly staggering about the place, blaming others for his condition and bitter than life hasn't gone the way he thought it should. Every day for him is a challenge, and every response to that challenge is to drink a bit more from the same bottle. Fred Glass is the partner who's too embarrassed to admit Tom's condition publicly, but privately is beginning to question why he ever married the tool, fool, wonders how expensive divorce proceedings might be, and shops Amazon to find the best deal on really big, very dark sunglasses. Some fans of course, are classic enablers. Too often, they're willing to endure the ramblings of a drunk because every now and then, things appear to be okay. They tell themselves, "Tom isn't all that drunk" and "Toms' really a nice guy", before adding "And that clappy thing he does is funny". In the end, Tom is what he is. The program is what it is. Let's hope there are at least a few adults left at IU who're willing to take the keys away from Tom Crean before he drives the program back in a ditch. -

It's me. Isn't it? I can't help it that I'm ADHD with a side order of Tourettes. :D -
It's a little known fact that Linda Ronstadt and Tom Crean used to date. Granted, she's a bit older that Tom, and eventually he, (like the rest of the free world) came to realize that Linda had lost her ever lovin' mind. Still, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, to say nothing of woman forced to listen to Tom's take on his coaching ability. To Linda, though we think you're bat-sh*t crazy, we thank you for having penned this greatest of break up songs and a tribute to coach Tom Crean's coaching prowess. Well, we have to assume it stops at coaching. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAWS8BLFbPs

I honestly don't know a thing about this Thomas Bryant, but I've watched a bit of tape, and seen some photos of him. He doesn't look to be all that "intimidating". Is it just me or does he look particularly sophomoric? I think if we're hoping he comes to IU as some savior for the team and Tom's job, he'd better come here with jets on his ass and a lot more muscle. But I could be wrong....

No truer words were ever spoken. Most, but not all, think that it is their purpose in life to point out the flaws in others. I suspect it's their own security issues, but it may be that they're just a**holes.

Threads That Get Off Topic
TrueHoosier62 replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
To a certain extent, it's unavoidable that threads lose their way. Almost every topic one can think of, or post about, is linked or will invariably be linked, to another. For instance, you could have a thread on Tom Crean-The Coach, Tom Crean's coaching prowess, Tom Crean's coaching philosophy, Tom Crean has the clap, The Rise and fall of Napoleon, Nero plays whilst Rome burns, Joani's trip to a High School game, Martha the Mop lady's tips for moist muffins, & 10 ways to have fun on campus during the offseason. Without a doubt, the posts would cross over, as almost everything is intertwined. Having said, this, I know what you're saying, and we need to at least try to stay on topic. Just wanted to add my two cents worth.
