I've had that on my mind for a few years now. Always thought it strange, given the geography. Anyone know if there is a specific reason we don't?
-
Why no Butler anymore? I see you guys suggested to have them in the crossroads. I like that, but don't we usually get them regardless? Is there a reason we stopped this year?
-
My last line was not intended to be as harsh as it read. I was going for sort of a, Kentucky has a lot more historical significance to us type of thing.
-
I miss big rivalry games like that. We don't have anything like it anymore. It's a huge spectacle. It's national television. It's a dream for recruiting. It's what I loved about Indiana growing up. We always played the best teams on the biggest stage. One things sure, you sure as heck aren't getting an entire nation of fans going batdung crazy over Indiana/UCLA.

Personally I think when deciding between teams in power conferences, SOS means little compared to conference record. I think any B1G team with a conference winning percentage at or above .600 gets in. Probably even .500
-
Ooooh good one! I guess I would. A lot have said that the difference between SOS wasn't big enough to make them choose B. However, when you look at the RPI, there are probably 40 teams between 65 and 51 (or whatever it was) so yeah, probably would.
-
The burning question is, was my pick right or wrong? No wonder I never get prizes. This has damaged my fragile sensibilities and I must now go meditate on the meaning of the cruel RPI.
-
I most certainly did not! Thought it looked like a lot like the difference between a mid-major and power conference. So, I picked B. The fact that everyone else picked A, was purely coincidental. Are there prizes?

Depends on the class. If it's econ, I say go for it. If it's some thing like psych, hold on to it. Too many ladies.

Purdue over Mini in 3 OT - good or bad for us?

They have to score as well. Our d doesn't suck either. Minnie may come out slow after such a long game and not much rest. We've had a week to prepare, they get 2 days. -

Minnesota, and just about everyone else we meet, is gonna go 2-3 zone. Minnesota has done well throwing multiple looks at people. I personally didn't think their 2-3 has looked very good. They went man against Wisconsin and won. We shoot well, we win. -

I don't think a Minn. loss helped us either. It didn't hurt, but didn't help. I personally would have liked to see Mini pull that out. They win at Mackey, and it makes them look better. We take care of business in the barn, and we clearly separate ourselves from both of them. I'm far more worried about how we look to the selection committee, than I am about conference standings with half the season to go. All we need to do is take care of business right now, and not get caught looking ahead. The standings will shake out no matter what. I don't think we will lose to Minnesota, not based on what I've seen in their last two. -
I live in Madison, Wi. Definitely took some crap for that one. Their little baby streak against us got ended and you would not believe how they cried. Priceless.
-
Oh man I know! The year prior to that was the one I thought we were gonna take it all. I had just graduated H.S. and was soooo crushed after losing in the final 4, I didn't show to work for two days and was fired from my first ever real job. Worked out ok because I ended up doing much better in school so there's that.

It's actually a picture I took on my phone. My uncle has the magazine framed in his basement mancave/IU Shrine. Absolutely my favorite.
-
Yeah, I get what you're after on that. Either way I think we are good on this one boys. I saw some holes in their lineups and in that 2-3 I think we can exploit. We got this, I'm calling it now.
-
Uhh....no.... Looks better on the resume if they win on the road and we beat them at home. We take care of business Saturday and let me see........where would that put them.....Hmmmm........behind us?...... yep pretty sure it's behind us. Why don't we call NASA, and have them run the math for us eh?
-
Gotta agree with that. Certainly can't hurt us if Minn. pulls this one out. Right now Purdonkey seems dead set on giving it away. Should have won this twice already.
-
Just went ot. Purdue botched it.
-
Doesn't look 100% just yet. Not terribly worried though. The UMIN defensive looks have kept them in games but, if we shoot decent against the zone I think we win by 10.
-
I said Jordy as well but he most certainly did not play good defense. Toward the end of last season Crean had to sub him out defense for offense. Honestly couldn't justify having him on the floor defensively after a while.
-
In a league where 1 player can win games by putting up 30 points, I sure miss Victor' s lock down. Overall though, I'm going w/ Jordy too. Draino in his sleep that kid!
-
Important if you don't have it yes, but my experience has seen the committee place a much much higher value on conference record. If we come out of this season with a winning record in the B1G, doesn't that make a below average non com schedule moot? Oh, I get it now, sorry. I'd go with team B. Sounds like the difference between a power and mid/major
-
Certainly not a team I'd feel comfortable laying money on right now. I totally understand where you are coming from on this, but I would not be so quick to call NW and NEB poor teams. They have both proven tough outs to many of the B1G teams. They beat us because they play 2-3 zone defense and in Northwestern' s case, that thing is so tight, If you placed a lump of coal inside the no-charge circle, by halftime you'd have made a diamond. I do believe this team can win consistently and can play with anyone if that issue is addressed.
-
I agree. The non con hurts. The Minnihaha game is huge as a road win, as they are zone heavy defensively, and we need to prove we can win against it. I don't believe the NW loss looks quite as bad now but, we need to go there and win convincingly. In the future, looms Iowa, Wisconsin, OSU and Michigan. I claim that if we win 2 of 4 in those, win by a decent margin in Nebraska, and win 2 conference tournament games, ending say 21-10 or 20-11 ???? It's a big maybe because of all the 2-3 were gonna see down the stretch and UW & UM are road games but if we can pull that off I don't see how they keep us out. I say we can.
