Indiana falls to UNLV - 72-69 - 6th Place Maui Invitational - 1st place Embarrassment-for-Fans Classic

Oh and another thing....Coach, please bench JBJ. I don't even want to see him get 10 minutes. Coach, that shot he took when we finally clawed back to tie it at 45 really pissed me off. -

I can't sleep. It's 2:45am and that game still has me up. Turnovers yeah, defense yeah, I expected that. I mean it's the same darn team as last year, minus 1 dude really. What? There some kind of magic potion they took was supposed to change that over the summer? Nope. Anyway, that's not why I'm up.....It's the screens man! The screens! I re-watched some after I got home and what I saw was a glaring difference between the ball screens Vegas was setting and the one's we attempted. Every single time UNLV would set a high ball screen, our on-ball defenders would get stuck like a midget to a Velcro target. The result of that being a blow by of TB or Hartman who would come out to high to help aaaand layup. Every time. Our on-ball guys had no idea these screens were there...oblivious although it was done each possesion. On offense, IU tried setting several ball (screens) for Yogi, Rojo and Troy. Each of these attempts completely whiffed. I mean I doubt the Vegas defenders even felt a cool breeze as they waltzed through to continue their duties. Not just ball screens, all screens. The Vegas players knew they were coming. They didn't even have to go under the screen, they went through like it wasn't there. There were multiple occasions where their defenders could be seen looking over their shoulders to see where it was coming from. I'm saying they knew man! Dig it? They were communicating and at least aware of what might happen...we were not. IU, please get better at this. Thank you. -
So we lost...as a fan, I can take a loss and say "Well, those are the breaks, go get em next time." But, the WAY we lost this one, makes me wonder if we really can go get em. I'm on the fence about this group. JBJ? Average. Troy? Amazing, but I sometimes secretly wish he played for someone else. TB? Hope that was the worst he can be. I'm interested to see how hard we play tomorrow. That will be telling. Losing today won't kill our chances. Losing tomorrow or even winning ugly just might. I for one am going to give the guys a chance to respond.

Completely agree, his best effort to date.

I don't see how JBJ is expected to go pro. Dude has been average at best since December of last year. I don't see the hype. If he's supposed to be a good shooter, then why doesn't he shoot good?

It works when it's working though. When a good perimeter team starts hammering, it's often due to ball movement or just hot hands. I don't think you should choose to stop it when they can throw it in the ocean. -

Didn't look like it tonight but I honestly don't think this team is just one of distance shooting. Bryant is real. He and TW are on it. That's your half court. On nights when it is falling, why stop...but I think we can win without it this year. That's exciting. -

My take on JBJ is that on defense he plays smaller than what he really is. Seems easy to pass over him and he doesn't use his quickness well. I'm sure he will work on it until he gets it. -

Great game. High turnover rate. Excellent shooting and better defense in 2nd. I feel like the D should improve with some time. Everyone seems to be playing hard. -

I agree JS. I never thought Jordy was a very good defender. I see some think he was but he was slow and couldn't get through a pick with a bulldozer. I remember it got bad enough at the end of his senior year, he had to sub out every defensive possession. He was a big liability out there.

Here we go

Think I just saw that Eastern Washington is in on an automatic.
-
I think we get in. Probably because of the name on the front of the jersey. Maybe a play in, Maybe not. I do know that there are a few teams solidly in that we have beaten. I also know there will be at least 15 teams in that we would destroy. I guess my point is, if you don't think this is one of the 68 best teams in the country, you're out of your skull.

Yeah, I'm sure it wasn't blown on purpose. Like I said, I just finished watching and was very upset. I mean, this guy made me spill my beer and everything. Now that I've had a chance to calm, I just want to say what a great game E. Holt played. Thank you so much for playing your ass off tonight. Made me proud. -

I couldn't believe it Hova. After the replay, I sat there slack-jawed, in pure, dumbfounded, dis-belief. Then I realized it was actually happening, and I started screaming! Look at time and score you dolt!! Not unless it's blatant, but fact is, it never happened!! Suspect Hova, Damn suspect.
