I’ll agree on the injuries. Anderson forced to play minutes he wasn’t ready for, mixed with other erratic lineups thrown together to see what might stick. All adds up. Alright, yeah I get where you are coming from. I’m really honestly not trying to stir the pot. The double, multiple game losing streaks give me a legit hard time when I consider the team for placement regardless of who we beat. I understand that I cannot discount the fact that IU came up huge against some of the best, and obviously injuries matter. I just wonder how much really. Also, I’d like to argue that the Rutgers and NW losses should indeed be placed into the blowout category. Both of those teams held 15 and 14 point leads respectively, late in the 2nd half. Neither of those games were in doubt after halftime. IU had horrendous scoring droughts in each. I claim they were also blowouts, because the final score was deceiving. I think it may be a little harder to find than I thought. Have to go through the full schedule for every team in the field. If you happen to come across something easily I’d be glad to hear about it, otherwise don’t wear yourself out looking brother. The reason I ask is, I remember watching a post game show on CBS a few years back, where the analysts were discussing the bracket viability of certain teams considered on the bubble. It popped into memory because the argument for a particular team was that although the team suffered 14 losses overall, they had never lost 3 in a row and only lost back to back games twice. The consensus from the panel was that it would give them an advantage over bubble teams with similar records, who could not claim the same. All metrics, quads and computations aside, that still gives me pause when it comes to decision time. Thing is, we don’t really know what the net is, or how it’s really used. We know some dudes computer model based on what little info the committee has leaked. I still say even with a win over OSU, it’s far from the lock some say it is. About 9 of those 12 games weren’t losses man, those were blowouts. Many on national tv. This is my opinion. Not trying to be negative in any way. I’m simply saying this....better keep winning. That was awesome. Thanks so much for posting that, Stromboli. I’ve never watched that before. I can’t tell you how much it meant to me. Those teams from the late 80’s and early 90’s are why I chose to be a Hoosier. I was in my teens then, a kid from a small town, 400 miles from anything Indiana related. Even there, my father and I would seek out information on this high school kid named Damon Bailey. Yes, my father was a Bob Knight, IU basketball fan. All the way from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, we prayed he would stay home and choose IU. If those 80’s teams were the spark, then the Cheany/Bailey years were the blazing inferno that guided me to Indiana University and Kelley. Anyway, thanks again. Yeah, ya know, I’m ok with that. He knows there are battles to prepare for and the war is far from over. All business. And really, I think you are probably right, maybe that’s not really what the coaches do for the senior night. Might be a thought for the future though, especially in the case of a guy like Juwan. So, I get the players thanking each of the coaches who were instrumental in shaping their individual careers. I have no problem with that. Most had both guys, so why wouldn’t you thank both? For me though, something was missing from Archie’s side of things. I would have liked if coach had said a little something about each individual player as he introduced them. Something personal and behind the scenes. A funny story, or a memory, or even like a timeline of the players development over their time spent together. I could be the minority here, and I admit to not having the greatest access to previous senior speeches, to use as a barometer for how they normally go. I bet JUMO was referencing his sophomore season in his speech. Freshmen year, he and OG were considered equals. Sophomore year OG becomes the darling of Bloomington and Juwan’s minutes really remained the same as year 1. I can understand him getting upset over that. Glad he changed his mind.
