  1. I thought OSU's, Wisconsin's and IU's were a tier above the rest. Not sure if that's the exact IU lineup I would have selected, but it's not far off.

"Business decision" is a pretty common term for recruits to use now when trying to decide on a school.

    Starting 5 as of Today

Yogi, JBJ, RoJo, Troy, TB, Hartman, Zeisloft, HP, and Holt are the nine players who will be vying for the most minutes in my opinion.Injuries, summer progression, transfers, etc will shake things up, but those are the nine I see right now.

I see people listing 10 player lineups and frankly that just isn't going to happen. Maybe early on during the easier part of the schedule, but come B1G play it will likely only be 8 players getting serious minutes.   There's only 200 total minutes to go around. Yogi is going to play at least 32 minutes in nearly every game and James will at least get 25. That takes the total minutes down to 143ish. Then you have to imagine Troy and Thomas will get in the 25 range too. That leaves 93 minute after four players. It's just hard to spread minutes out and keep a whole lot of continuity in your team.

    Friday's Game

That's because they are only used to determine what game you have GA for. Nothing else.

    Friday's Game

Not really. I'll try to break down what they do, but it's a little fuzzy. Even people in the athletic department struggle to explain it. You get a certain amount of points for buying basketball and football tickets. Then you get a certain amount of points for attending those games. When you submit your tickets in a package, the points are averaged across the group. The only time the points are used are to determine what your "good" game will be. So what game you will get GA for. Otherwise, they are not used.   Attendance at other sports: soccer, volleyball, women's basketball, etc does not matter.   This is the link the ticket office will refer you to, but I don't think it is the one for students:   http://www.iuhoosiers.com/sports/c-varsityclub/spec-rel/priority-points.html#AccumPoints

    Way too early top 25

Almost positive Duke will be playing at Wisconsin. Without looking at home/away last year I would venture a guess that IU could end up playing Pitt.

    24 second shot clock.

I hate the argument to change the shot clock. Dropping the shot clock down from 35 to 30 or even 24 would more likely increase turnovers than anything else.

Indiana Rivals predicts us to finish 9th next season

I'd be surprised if Allen sees much of the court next year. If he can defend at a high level then he will, otherwise he will be behind Jones in the rotation.

    Indiana Transfers Impact This Season

Shouldn't Fischer be included in this as well? Obviously he transferred a while ago, but it was this season. I know his sample size is tiny, but still.

    OT: Buzz Williams to VT

He's 18 years old and moved far away from home for the first time in his life. He obviously didn't make his decision in one day. He probably decided it long before he made the decision and told the coaching staff. If he didn't enjoy attending Indiana then he has every right to up and leave whenever he pleases. It's his life, not yours. Wishing him ill-will because he wanted to be happy and do what was best for himself and his family is ridiculous.

Luke Fischer deserves to have his coach bail on him, because he transferred from Indiana? Seriously? That's terrible.
  22. Alright guys, I need some help/advice. I got bored earlier (this is a dangerous thing) and started looking at old recruiting classes. I am currently in the process of looking at creating a formula to determine how successful a team is and compare it to their recruiting class. It's very rough right now and I need to work out some kinks. So I came here for some help. Here's an example.   As of right now teams gain points in this manner: Regular season conference championship - 10 Regular season conference runner-up 8 Conference tournament champ - 8 Conference tournament runner-up 6 NCAA 1st round - 1 NCAA 2nd round - 2 NCAA 3rd round - 6 NCAA 4th round -10 NCAA 5th round - 14 NCAA Runner-up - 18 NCAA Champ - 22   So this most points you can achieve would be 40. Then you take the average of the recruiting ranking.     Player 1 ---97 Player2 --93 Player 3---88 Player 4---85 Total - 363 Average 90.75   Then you would take 90.75 divided by 40 to get the best possible score. Which in this case would be 2.26875.   So say the team was second in their conference, won the conference tournament, and made it to the 5th round of the NCAA tournament. A good year. It would result in 30 points. 90.75/30 = 3.025.   3.025 - 2.26875 = .75625. So they were .75625 away from a perfect score.   Do this for 4 years and take the average.   So my question here is what should be the benchmark for how good a score is? Would you have to be within 1.5 for it to be a good class? Or within what? Obviously there is the problem of people leaving early and transferring.   Thoughts? Suggestions? Does something like this already exist? I really hope this makes sense to everyone.
  23. Yeah, I realize it may not be the most accurate metric, but I thought it would be interesting. I like the idea of making it out of 100, but the issue is within assigning the correct weight for each outcome.   I guess I could try this: National Champ - 50 NCAA Runner-up - 45 Final Four - 40 Elite Eight - 30 Sweet Sixteen - 25 Rd 32 - 15 Rd 64 - 10   Conference Champ 30 Conference Runner-up 20   Tourney Champ 20 Tourney runner-up 10   That would make best possible out of 100. Does that look about right?
  24.   The attendance number does play a factor, but there's other things at play. CIS is small so it is easy for that place to get loud and it echoes (so to speak). They are organized and always cheering. Assembly often has dead periods, even during big games. The students are not as organized. Don't get me wrong, when Assembly is at full force it is a terrifying place, but I think that happens far less often.   However the quality of the teams playing has much more to do with it than the fans.
