Pretty composed for a Soph. He is just one of those guys that is going to get his average. He never did really force anything after the long 3's in the 1st Qtr.

First time I've seen him live. I read somewhere he averages 4 dunks per game. I would guess he has padded his stats against some lower level teams.

If I would have told you all before the game that Yogi would have 25 pts, Troy would have 21 pts, Max 15 pts and Thomas 2 boards shy of a double/double. All the while only turning the ball over only 12 times. Would it be more believable if I had also told you we won by 2 or lost by 15?

I would guess that that factor does not rank very high in the equation since Iowa and Vandy are still on this list.

One game with a bye puts you in the semifinals. If IU beats Michigan the way they should have then loses to Purdue in a tight game in the Semis I for one would not be complaining.   It is continually losing games we shouldn't lose. Wake, UNLV, Penn St, Michigan. These are games we should win it we just show up ready to play.

I am not saying rest doesn't help but we were in this exact same situation playing Maryland. Michigan is not as good as Maryland. We should have beat them with or without Rojo and Juwan.

I remember Wisconsin and Michigan St making the B1G Championship game last year. Their NCAA appearance turned out okay.   Not sure why people want to lose or don't mind losing the B1G tourney?

We've seen players get hot in Conference and NCAA tourney and make a big leap in NBA rankings. I would love for Troy to be on that list because our team always wins when Troy is at his best.

ND, and @Iowa made me feel good about our chances in a tourney game.   I am definitely not looking past Michigan or whomever we play Friday, but Purdue should be our first big test. The way we let them back in the game at home. Could be a payback game at a neutral site. Should be a great atmosphere though. IU/Purdue in Indy!!

Yeah at this point it is sunshine pumping. I really do think we can score with anybody in the country. We can also go cold from 3 and have one bad single game and it could be it. With our improved defense and possibility of a good tourney draw I am liking our chances and actually looking forward to the tourney this year.   In years past (12-13 excluded) I have been more worried or pessimistic about the tourney. Not this year!!!!!

Another cool trend is just in recent years.... Since 2010 all but 1 runner-up falls outside of this 40/40 club. (2010&2011-Butler, 2013-Michigan, 2014-UK, 2015-Wisky)   If IU can just make the Championship game   I would think we have a chance at breaking that National Championship statistic especially if we got hot from 3 like they are capable of doing.

As Martin said in a different thread, I think the new shot clock throws a little wrench in the numbers this year, but the rules are still the same for everyone.   I like to think of a VCU from 2011. They had an amazing defense, causing turnovers with their Havoc D, but were statistically only ranked #84. I think they played up-tempo so they gave up some points, but were able to score with anyone due to turnovers and points off turnovers.   While we don't have a Havoc D, we do have an up-tempo style of play that will probably add possessions and see higher scoring games on both ends.

So am I correct in saying that you will could see major bumps in either direction when playing higher ranked teams?

Looking at the free KenPom site I see a couple things that jump out at me.   2003 Marquette's numbers were 119.7/99.3 2016 Indiana's number currently are 119.6/98.2   some other high defensive #'s that make the Final Four   2003 - Texas - 97.4 2011 - Butler - 95.1 2011 - VCU - 98.0 2014 - UK - 96.9 2014 - Wisky - 97.6 2015 - Wisky - 96.3   I follow the rankings pretty closely but I can honestly say I didn't pay much attention to the actual numbers until recently. I don't think it is possible for IU to drop to a 95.1 before seasons end, but could they hit the 96.5 - 97.5 range??
