Everybody bashing Lyle tell me about any legal trouble he has been in that I am unaware of? I am from Evansville and I know he had an attitude problem because he has never been coached. He left Evansville and went to Prep school his senior year and the only trouble I know of him getting into is his academics. And it is not as if he was cheating, he was just not eligible. He has played AAU his entire life and his H.S. coach was a glorified AAU coach that basically asked Jaquan when and how much he wanted to play. The kid is a great player and if a coach has any confidence in himself to try to coach him for the first time in his life and he worked hard enough in the off season to get himself eligible academically then I do not see a reason for anyone to not want him on their team. He will be an in-state kid that has his career highs against us every time we play and then we will all complain because we don't have a replacement for Yogi.

Love the Saban/Alabama comparison. I have used this with my friends before. From 1999-2009 Alabama could only win their Division once. After Saban gets there they win 4/6 conference championships.

Who this team is and where they're going
Uwe Robb replied to Magnanimous's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't care about records and preseason rankings. Everyone has seen this team play. This team playing the way they are now is not making it past the 2nd round of the tournament. The question is....Is that where everyone wanted to be in year 7 when we signed a coach to a top 10 contract? -

Don't want to take any credit away from CTC for the recent run, but we have played on another level since Benny came back!! Having another D1 level coach on the bench can't hurt things. Whatever is happening keep it going!!! -

Not sure it would have mattered tonight, but I think that may be the first game all year a team didn't go 2-3 zone on us one single possession. Hope this doesn't get out. -

I would say with the Overrated chants and the nah nah nah nah goodbye chants we will will not win by 19 @ MD. I am just going to guess. Let's get a win @ Columbus first though. -
All-Time Hoosiers Starting Lineup
Uwe Robb replied to NOLA Hoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
PG - Isiah Thomas SG - Victor Oladipo SF - Calbert Cheaney PF - Scott May PF - Alan Henderson Man, I didn't realize how deadly this line-up was until I started thinking about a 6th man. Would have to be Stevie Alford coming off the bench to hit some Treys. Notables left out (Honorable Mention) - Damon Bailey, Uwe Blab (Senior Yr Uwe only, for some size off bench), Kent Benson, Eric Gordon, AJ Moye (Always been a favorite of mine) -
Program is a joke to the people that are unrealistic and think we should be competing for National title every year. Not that I wouldn't love to be in that situation, but this team is not a National title contender. This team is over achieving to this point, and I love that. Just think if Cody Vic and Will would have over achieved. IF this team beats MD Thursday then we will be in 1st place in B1G. I think we all would have been happy with a 4th or 5th place finish and a tourney appearance. So voters can think what they want to think. If we keep winning then they will have not choice, but to accept our program is not a joke. Heck as long as the University has fans as passionate as we are we will never be a joke. (Unless somehow Sampson gets rehired) **Please don't take that as a jab at Cody and Vic's team, I loved that team and they were one of my favorites.

I understand zone defense, and I never blamed anything on JBJ. I simply stated that his defense is not good. I blame all the 3's on CTC for using the 2-3 zone so often when it was obviously not working. I am sure someone will jump on here and state that we HAVE to use zone because of our lack of size and depth at the big man position, but I still think it is used far too often. I think it should be used 5-8 possessions a game to pull teams out of their offense not as a primary defense as it has been used this entire year, even when Hanner was healthy. Illinois had a wide open lay up to tie the game with approx. 45 sec left and they missed it. This was a result of the zone defense as well. If Hill (?) had made this layup maybe everyone's tune on here is a little different. Please do not get me wrong. I am super excited about the win. With that said our #1 area we need to get better in is DEFENSE. I see some great effort and positive things out of this team when they go man to man a lot times, but I see a lot of negatives and regression when I see our 2-3 zone defense. It just baffles me that we play the weaker of our two defenses the majority of the time. Totally agree with you as well on JBJ being a superb rebounding guard. He and Rojo both are. -
I totally agree with you on the inside game. However their weakness is defending the perimeter. If JBJ has a killer instinct in him at all then this would be a huge game for him. Don't get me wrong I would never place any money on the Hoosiers to win that game, but I would love to see it. A lot of things would have to go right for us, and I am not sure we would drive the ball enough to get them in any signifigant foul trouble since they have 4-5 big men that play and are very serviceable. I would say one of our only chances would be to trade 2 for 3 throughout the game and hope that the refs have a really loose whistle. That being said with it being in Louisville I would hope that our fans showout just as loud and crazy as those Wildkitty fans. I am also hoping that we play well enought throughout the rest of the season to earn better than a #9 seed and won't have to play a team like UK in the 2nd or even 3rd round!!!

I'm pretty sure we were in a 2-3 zone when Nunn hit all those 3's and JBJ was at the top of the zone. Either way when we were man to man he was either guarding Nunn or Starks. Nunn hit 6 and Starks hit 5. The general point of my comment was that JBJ is bad at defense. -

JBJ had 11 deflections today per TC. I am not saying this is a non factor stat, but I don't think it's near as huge as he makes it. JBJ had 11 deflections and he was still our worst defensive player of the game. Maybe he was going for deflections and that is why Nunn was so open on all those 3's??? -

If you told me was only using it because of our lack of size and lack of depth at the big then I would understand a little bit more, but he continually ran this when Hanner was healthy. Also gonna throw this out there. Everyone on here is yelling for more PT for Priller and April. How about Max!!! He is 6'8" and had an amazing first half. He got pulled right after a And 1 and an offensive rebound and hasn't seen the floor since. The entire time Max and Holt have been in game we were m2m. Coincidence that this is when we went on our big run? -

Tommy using this Zone is going to make me switch sides on the fire CTC train. I have defended him in past, but I think he is the only coach in D1 that totally confused (offensively and defensively) by the concept of a 2-3 zone. It is depressing.
