I totally agree with you. I apologize if I was making it sound like I thought all that money was for 2 players. I am strictly speaking of ROI. Look if I buy $700k in powerball tickets and only win $20 and couple free tickets then my ROI was not very good, I think we can all agree. If I spend $700k and recruit Goodluck, Isaiah Whitehead, Tum Tum Nairns, D Rob, Trey Lyles, Theo Pinson, Jaquan Lyle and Tim Priller and the only one I get is Tim then my ROI is not very good. * I realize we got more than Priller just trying to prove my point

Read all the terms of the 12 Mil buyout. It will never actually be $12 mil.

See my post to Cottage Grove on the rolling investment. What I am saying is $2.8 million per 4 years worth of recruiting you should be nailing down UK type classes. Multiple burger boys and multiple 4 stars. If you are spending that much time and money building relationships we should see a little more return on investment.
-
It is actually a rolling 4 year investment as well as a rolling 4 year ROI. Crean would have $2.8 invested in Yogi's class in 2012 he would have $2.8 invested in Troy's class in 2013 and he had $2.8 invested in Priller's class in 2014. This is just going off the $700k per year that was provided. So the 2014 class and as of today the 2015 class are not looking like a very good ROI.

I understand what Feathery is saying. I realize he is recruiting all these other players, but they have not signed. So ulitmately what you paid for in the end $700k per year (if they were recruiting OG & Juwan all 4 years) is $2.8 million dollars spent and only OG and Juwan to show for it. Until we sign some of these other players ROI is not looking good, kind of like our record which is what another poster said matters.

Potential fallout from coaching change
Uwe Robb replied to HoosiersLoveBanners's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
They do this because I haven't seen a hard cut and a screen since Pre-season. Nothing else to do but dribble and try to create. -
Another reason to focus on In-State kids.

Potential coaching change suggestions

I am not saying what he is saying is wrong, I am saying it should not be a defensive strategy which is what the question was. -

I didn't want to derail any other threads so I posted this in the bash TC thread. If this is what Tommy is telling these players defense is about then no wonder we are horrible. They ask him a question about defense and he says they need to transition into offense quicker? Not a great defensive game plan if you ask me. Defensively, what can we expect; Troy Williams--"We have to win the glass, rebound and that will help us in transition. -

https://highschoolslam.com/mens/3pt Everyone please get on here and vote for an Indiana kid to make it to the American Family Insurance Nationally televised Slam Dunk & 3 Point contest on CBS April 5th @ 3:30 EST The committee has chosen 5 players to automatically be in, and the 6th and final spot is determined by a fan vote. Jaelan Sanford from Evansville Reitz is a finalist against Will Osborn from Pallyup, WA. Please signup and vote. You can vote once a day for the next 6 and half days. Let's get behind this Indiana kid and see what he can do. -
So if we get Archie and they get Sean does that pretty much guarantee a series renewal between the two teams?

When they talk about a replacement for Cal they all mention Billy D and Miller. I wonder which Miller?

Potential coaching change suggestions
Uwe Robb replied to Bryan Medema's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
He would definitely be a risk just becuase he has not done it at this level, but look at his record. He has won 4 National Championships and been to 5 more Championship games. So 9/16 years coaching he has been in NC game. I know these are at the D2 and NAIA level, but he can only coach the teams he has and so far in C-USA he has done pretty well winning 20+ games every year he has coached (full season). * I do not ever expect this to happen, I am just playing devil's advocate. I graduated from KWC where he won 2 of his Championships so I am definitely bias, but I will tell you I really hope he does not end up in B1G playing IU twice a year. -

I have been saying the same thing about Ray Harper. Not sure he wins the C-USA tourney this year, but he has a very mediocre team this year and he will have 20 wins. Look at his history, he is a great coach and will get a shot somwhere somtime soon. -
Yes we do Thomas, yes we do!!!

Evansville Reitz wins Evansville Sectional 70-61 Reitz has not shot the ball well starting with the Southport game. They will play New Albany in Seymour Sectional Saturday at Noon. -
Coaching and Recruiting you are probably splitting hairs. Stevens is the Indiana native and more likely to stay here 30 years, while hopefully hanging 5 more banners. Would definitely not mind having either one though.

I tend to lean toward your side, but my only thought would be " It's Indiana" Let's go get whoever we want a'la Michigan and Alabama football. Here is 7 yrs 35 mil now get to work we need 3 Burger Boys and 3 In-states ASAP!!!

I can see both sides. I see Archie Miller's name on here mentioned quite a bit. You could make the arguement that he hasn't even had the success that Crean had before he came to IU, but with 7 years of experience from Crean I feel that he is not going to be the one to hang banner #6. So if he is not that guy we might as well give someone that shot. I just don't want to wait around til year 9 or 10 with same results. I would not be totally upset with Archie Miller or Greg Marshall. I would be more confident that we could get banner #6 with those guys even if their experience doesn't prove it. ***Still want Brad Stevens though***
-
I think it's easy for all of us to say that Crean needs to be gone no matter what and there are actually about 20 coaches I would say I would rather have than Crean. The behind the scenes stuff is what we can't and aren't taking into consideration. If there have been back channel discussions with either Brad Stevens or Billy D and they are saying the timing is wrong and they need 1 more year then I 100% agree you wait one mor year and keep Crean. If they flat out tell you NO I will not be coming to IU anytime in the foreseeable future then you go to your 2nd tier (Marshall, Bennett, Miller x2) I think one of these coaches for sure accept, if not then we are in worse shape than we think. But just to answer your question if you forced me to put a years salary on one game Crean vs. ? I could name 20 coaches that I would rather have coaching a single game.
-
I really hope he doesn't go overseas or stay at his prep school one more year. I would love to have him at IU, but I really just want to see this kid play in the NCAA (anywhere except UK). He is going to be a treat to watch and I really do not want to commit to watching 20-30 UK games. Him coming to IU would be icing on the cake. I think somewhere in previous posts they say the Freshmen rule is so that the NBA can have a free year of advertising for it's future stars. I would love every minute of him being advertised.

I am in the get rid of TC camp, but this is bad. If he had any thoughts at all about resigning and leaving town this might have pushed him over the edge. Not the best way to get rid of a guy.

Sounds like something some High School kids would do nowadays.
