    (2016) C Thon Maker

I hope you're right and we do get Thon, but Crean didn't have a Big in the 3 years before Cody and he never had a good one in his 9 years at Marquette, didn't get one for 2014-2015 and as of today still does not have one. So I could argue that the 2 in 2 years you are referring to are an acception to rule and not the norm.

Chronic Hoosier‏@ChronicHoosier·49 mins49 minutes ago In 7 seasons Crean has had 99 players (scholly & non) eligible to return the next year; 27.3% have left #iubb with eligibility remaining.   These numbers speak a little different. If 1/4 of your team is leaving each year, it is tough to gel and ever become a veteran team. You may have a Senior or two, but you will never be a veteran TEAM that has multiple years of experience playing with each other.

Would Yogi, Matt Roth or Nick Z be factored into these numbers?   *If Yogi and Z leave (I hope this does not happen)

Congrats Dru Smith from Reitz. Loved watching him play this year. Looking forward to see who he signs with next year.

    #IHSAA Boys/Girls State Tournament

N.D. Kendrick‏@NDkendrick Tom Crean and Tod Kowalczyk head coaches in the gym for Reitz/Richmond. Crean for Nate Hansen. Kowalczyk for Jaelan Sanford.   ND, is starting to lose some credibility in my book. I know Nate's dad and he is having some major issues passing his ACT. He is going to end up signing with Olney Central or Vincennes I would say. Unless Crean is recruiting him for 2018, this is not going to happen.

I agree. I don't think Stan was "Creaned".   We are still however 1 Scholarship over and still recruiting, so I will little doubt that 1 or 2 players will be "Creaned" before the end of May or June.

Stan was a 4 star recruit and #99 ESPN top 100. Hope he turns things around. Good Luck!!!

I would love to see that.

Yes, so was Hanner and Hollowell. Which of the 3 would you rather have as your starting PF next year?

The overall jist of my original post was that IU has a reputation with Big Men and so does UK. If you are Thon Maker....which is who this thread is about, then I could definitely see why you would chose UK. Cal has a track record of sending big men to the league, while Crean has a track record of under utilizing his big men.   I replied back when people started using Hanner and Luke Fisher as examples of Crean's success with Big men. That is why I compared these with the names I mentioned. Just a list to compare for people to decipher for themselves who they thought had a better reputation.   At this point I am not sure what we are arguing or debating, but I could care less when someone get's drafted. I do not root for the Charlotte Hornets or the Bobcats or whatever they go by now. I root for Indiana. So I look at Tom Crean's tenure at IU compared to Cal's tenure at UK and compare the "College" big men that they have put on the floor and I have undoubtedly made up my mind as to who I think is the better recruiter, developer and coach. Which is why I could see why Thon would look over IU and chose UK regardless of playing time situation.

That is my point exactly, he doesn't get 3 or 4 start big men. That is why we are where we are and UK is where they are.

Tom Crean to Alabama Rumor Thread

Anybody know if there is any truth to Saban being a part of the search committee?   It wouldn't surprise me if they would give them the honors, but it would kind of surprise me if he would care enough to do it? I have a High School buddy that ran Track at Alabama and he says that the Track athletes are not allowed to use the Football facilities. So I wouldn't imagine why Saban would want a high profile BBall coach that might want to borrow a treadmill every once in a while in town.

Wasn't interested in comparing 5 Stars. As HH1 was mentioning a homesick and Injured IU player. I can only assume he is talking about Luke and Jurkin or Luke and DD or Luke and Hanner? As if any combination of those two players with Cody and Noah would compare to the stream of players Cal has had and still has. I loved Cody, and I liked Noah, but those are two players that are gone. Cal has had 11 very good college big men as you mentioned with 4 currently on his roster and a minimum of 2 more coming next year?    So I will give you Cody and Noah, but what about April, Priller, Hanner, Jurkin, Jobe, Bawa, Capobianco, Howard, Pritchard. Cal's recruits are good to very good college big men. Crean's 3/10 in my book and that is being generous saying Fischer will turn out to healthy and serviceable at a college other than IU.   Academics - I cannot argue with you on this aspect.

If you want to play that game then UK should have 25 Mcd's AA on their current roster.   Anybody else want to argue that Cody, Noah, Hanner, Jurkin are better than Cousins, Patterson, Anthony Davis, Terrance Jone, Nerlens Noel, Marcus Lee, Dakari Johnson, Trey Lyles, Karl Towns, and Julius Randle?   Both Crean and Cal have a reputation with Big Men I will let you figure out what it is.

I feel bad. I am actually defending BBN. See what kind of shape the state of this program has me in. I need to take the summer off.

If Crean is such a guru with Big's then why do we have none on our team? As of today our starting PF or C will be Hanner yet again. How may does Cal have on his team? I guess Hanner knows something that the 8 or 9 seven footers that Cal has had the past 4-5 years doesn't know.   Back on the subject. I have no faith we land Thon, if we do then we will under utilize him like we did Vonleh, which is why he had 1 foot out the door before the season was even over.

All of my posts have more to do with development than where they get drafted. And developing a big man has a lot to do with where you go to college and who is teaching you. I was just stating that Cal's record with Big's is a little bit better than Crean's.

In this 2nd post I literally said He would probably still get drafted in the Lottery.

    (2016) C Thon Maker

1/2 Big men we placed in draft was in the D-League at one point this year. Not sure Crean is the best at developing Big men. I would argue all Cody did here was get stronger. That would be due to Jenay not Tom.   Would he get drafted in lottery? Probably. Would he develop and reach maximum potential at IU where he could then get a big 2nd contract in NBA (where the real money is)? Maybe.

Because he wants to make a tournament run and be a 1st round pick not a bubble team and a possible late 2nd rounder like all of our stars.

    2015 #IUBB Offseason Thread

By the time Crean hangs the banner it will read "Picked to finish 15th in B1G"
  25. Sadly enough I agree with everything he says. I just can't stand the way this smug son of a bi*ch delivers his message.   I mean a lot of us use the verb "Creaned" but are the great sportswriters using this kind of slander in their articles?   Just not a fan of Doyel.
