New Coach Salary And Criteria...$5 million?
Uwe Robb replied to Feathery's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Totally agree with you on this part. -
Hate to label a kid I have never seen play but isn't De'ron Davis a Boo disciple as well? Are we looking at another TW with him?

New Coach Salary And Criteria...$5 million?
Uwe Robb replied to Feathery's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Perfectly fine for you to have an opinion, I gave you mine. The way you worded it in your initial post was that it was fact. As for your question why would he leave what he has in Boston? Besides the reason you already gave. That and being closer to family would be the two big ones. I can also think of about 500,000 to 1,000,000 more. Not sure what anyone's financial situation is on this board but I don't know many that wouldn't talk to someone about a new position if it involved a $500,000 to $1,000,000 raise annually (those numbers are probably on the low side). Also I have heard people reference what he has going in Boston. I have all the faith in the world in BS, but he missed playoffs first year made the playoffs in 2nd year with 40-42 record. Kind of by default since 8 teams had to make it in a horrible Eastern conference. This year he is off to an 11-8 start I believe? Again, not saying he can't do wonders, but it's not like he is on a 10 year playoff streak or trying to defend his World Championship title. If he left Butler after 2 NC appearances then I'm pretty sure he can leave Boston after 3 mediocre years. A side note, Boston has Kevin McHale on staff now. One of Danny Ainge's best friends and I am not 100% sure if McHale was available at the time of the BS hire that McHale wouldn't have gotten the job over him. Just one of the pieces that might help the puzzle. Again, all of this is just my opinion, theory and a little bit of wishful thinking. What are your thoughts? Who would be on your short list? -
New Coach Salary And Criteria...$5 million?

I don't know? Apparently you do. So tell me who your sources are? Are you a close personal friend of Brad? I would say he is as good an option as anyone. Maybe I am very naive. -

We know Stevens is staying in Boston? Who are your sources? -
I would argue that we lose almost all the road games and will throw in a stinker or two at home where we don't shoot well and therefore lose by double digits to a team we should beat by double digits.

I believe statistically the Fball team (116) has a higher ranked Defense, than the (148) basketball team I know there are about 3x as many CBB D-1 teams as there are CFB but we have the whole season yet.

Analysis: Where does Indiana Basketball go from here?

I agree. I think Stevens is the only hire that would please the hardcore Bobby Knight fans. -

I would be fine with 4.0 to 4.5 with some incentives. He will be making more money than he currently does and also will be getting his wife and kids back home to Indiana. My guess is these numbers would get it done. As soon as he makes a Final Four then give him the extension and raise that Glass is so good at doing. Not sure how old Brad is but I give him 5-6 mil a year for as many years as he wants. He has gone to the National Championship 1/3 years he has coached in CBB. I would be very happy with 25-30 years of results like that. -
Prediction League Game 9 (Week 4) IU vs Morehead St (12/05/15)
Uwe Robb replied to Naturalhoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Pretty good MHS team just blew out Jimmy Crews boys in STL. Only loss is to a pretty good IL St. Team that made a game @ UK tighter than anyone would have believed. With all this said. We HAVE to win this game right? IU - 94 MHS - 93 -

I agree with all this. I think this is why I think Glass was quoted last year as saying the $12 mil was not an issue. He knows that it will never be paid. I really do wish the best for TC and I would imagine he would not be unemployed very long. So that is a positive for IU. I am in the camp that would prefer it happens sooner than later so the smoke can clear by April for the Golden Boy to come home. They also have a pretty good replacement and friend of Danny Ainge in place with Kevin McHale now. Dare I say that some of the pieces are falling into place? -

I don't think the buyout is an issue at all. If Glass was saying last year that the $12 million wasn't an issue then I don't see how $7.5 would be. Also if you wait until the end of the season to fire him we would still be on the hook for full buyout. Can't go into July with a lame duck coach recruiting kids that probably won't come to play for him. Very good contract on Crean's part, but another reason Glass made a huge mistake. Any drop in buyout should come in March or April of the contract not July. -
51 pts at half.

I usually go to one non-conference home game and one conference home game every year. I got tix to the crossroad classic but will not be attending any home games. That will be my form of speaking up. If they get multiple home games with half empty seats that will speak volumes.

It's all semantics. We can say this player is better than that player, but you also have to compare the competition. Is this years B10 better or worse than the B10 competition the 12-13 team or overall schedule for that matter? If all these factors are fairly even and we get a #1 seed in tournament I would like our odds of going further than the S16. I also know that Michigan St. Maryland Vandy and Duke (possibly Kansas) are really good teams this year. So a 4 loss (reg season record correct me if I'm wrong in 13') and a #1 ranking could be out of the question. Also the dreaded tournament draw. God forbid we draw a Syracuse team or someone like Vandy, Purdue or UK that can run multiple bigs at us. not saying we can't win a one game scenario just saying I would rather play a Witchita St or any 15 or 16 seed.

Great game. I think we will learn a lot more in Maui. If I hit the Mega Million Friday night I will let you guys know how the weather is. -
Thanks guys. I've had a few inquiries and I just logged in and tried to answer all of your questions. Hope we all see a couple of good games.

I have some extra tickets for the Classic if anyone is in need. I have 2 sets of 2 that piggy back so I could sell them as 2 or as 4 if someone needs them just DM. Thanks.

Devin Davis cited for marijuana possession
Uwe Robb replied to hyzy's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I did not attend IU, but I played Golf at a small Methodist school in KY and all student athletes were forced to sign a student-athlete code of honor book that stated we would not partake in drugs or alcohol while attending school on scholarship. This said nothing about age it was just common knowledge that you could/would lose scholarship if you got caught doing either. Again, that could be exclusive to KWC since it was a bible belt school, but I would have to imagine it is more comman than not. -

The pot is of very little concern to me. It is the failure to learn thru mulitple infractions that you must follow your coaches and universities rules and regulations. If they can't do something as simple as not break the law and not do drugs, then I have no confidence that they will follow the coaches instructions when he tells them to go set a screen, or play help defense or take a charge. Lots of people have heard the word Coachable. You have to be Coachable in real life as well!! -
I didn't read every single post on here so sorry if someone has already mentioned this, but $700k for the top 5-10 McD's AA wouldn't be all they make. It is nothing for Nike or Adidas to give the top 20-30 NBA draft picks a $500k - $1M contract right after the draft. I would assume the top players in this league would be no different.

I am not talking about what happened legally. The kid had it in his possession. Do you honestly think he was not going to or had not already smoked it? You can play the guilty until proven innocent theory, but I believe this whole team lost that right with our 1st 4 or 5 rules infractions. It is fairly simple Millions of humans do it every day, just DO NOT break the law.
