Yea then....We were 15-4...19 games into the season in which we've played 32. When you have a record like that over halfway into the year, it's promising. Especially when you consider the "easy" part of our schedule was on the back-end.

Please, we don't live in a vacuum. When we were tied for 1st and ranked, it was a promising season.

Why is Booing considered awful?
weaverswonders6 replied to weaverswonders6's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Well for those that are adamantly opposed to booing, are you fine with people leaving the game early? Would you not consider it just as disrespectful to have the team playing in a largely empty arena before the game is even over? -

I think he'll be back regardless, but agree with others that next season is his last. -
Why is Booing considered awful?
weaverswonders6 replied to weaverswonders6's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Depends on whether or not it's deserved. When I muck it up at work and know I didn't give it my best, I gladly take any criticism that's thrown my way and work to reverse what I caused. Do you honestly believe the effort given in the game against Iowa deserved cheering, people staying the whole game, etc...? How is voicing your displeasure considered disrespect? Again, I'm not talking about the people chanting for Brad Stevens, screaming vulgar slurs, etc...I'm talking about just straight booing to voice your displeasure -
Why is Booing considered awful?
weaverswonders6 replied to weaverswonders6's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
They are young men that are largely revered as idols more often than not around campus and enjoy certain "perks" most people will never experience. Shouldn't they also feel the opposite if/when they perform poorly? They get hoisted on shoulders of teammates and paraded around campus when they hit a game winner, so what's wrong with booing if they don't? -
Potential fallout from coaching change
weaverswonders6 replied to HoosiersLoveBanners's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Completely agree with this. Not to mention the marriage between IU and CTC is just at a toxic level right now. When a coach (who was already a polarizing figure after last year) loses the fanbase even more, it's nearly impossible to win them all back. I don't see any positives to having CTC stay 1 additional year. It won't surprise me if he does, but I don't understand why he would. -
IUBB vs. Ohio St. Post Game Thread
weaverswonders6 replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I get their shooting percentage was low, but they missed 12 lay-ups and I'm re-watching the game now and they missed 4 wide open 3's in the first 8 minutes of the game. I'll adjust after I have re-watched, but it won't surprise me if they missed 7-10 wide open 3's with all those lay-ups. While I agree we were better than normal, that's not saying much imo. We're still awful defensively, which is a shame, cause we have the talent and physical attributes to be so much better. -

I'm sorry, but I still don't think our defense was any good today. Glad we won, but c'mon. They only had 5 TOs. I'll have to watch the DVR and count how many lay-ups or wide open 3's they missed. We're constantly out of position still and bite on ANY pump fake. How many and-1's did they get in the last 2 minutes of the game? 3? We don't communicate well and seem to struggle mightily when switching from man to zone and back again. The one highlight to me is the 7 blocks. We tried to give this game away. This team definitely has potential. They can be something special, but until we buy into a consistent defensive effort, they'll be wildly inconsistent with their wins and losses. -

Hanner seems to be progressing on offense nicely. Defensively, he's better, however, still not good. Stan should never see the court right now and it seemed foolish for Crean to continue playing him tonight. We are exactly who I thought we were. Our defense is atrocious on the perimeter. We let ppl drive by, have terrible defensive rotation, don't get bodies on guys when the ball goes up, don't keep our hands up in the zone,etc...Our size hurts us, but there's no excuse for that many offensive rebounds. Many of those were due to awful positioning. On the flip side, our offense is exciting and generally potent, with excellent slashing, spacing, and movement most of the time. If we can't hit shots, as the previous poster said, our defense will not keep us in games against good teams. I'm still expecting a 18-20 win season and being a bubble team come March after this performance. -
Revised Season Expectations
weaverswonders6 replied to KelleyHoosh's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The two teams we've played have been garbage squads, so I can't get a lot from these early games. I think SMU will be a better barometer. Glad we finally have shooters, but concerned about getting out rebounded tonight and our carelessness that's been evident for years. I originally thought 18-20 and will stick with that. Probably a bubble season. -

Indiana will probably win tonight and then we'll have a whole round of maybe we are getting better and CTC coached a helluva game.....Even if we do win, I'll expect another loss Saturday at NW -

I am waiting at the station for the train to show up....It's rapidly approaching, but I'm still hopeful that I don't see it until next season.
