Yes, HH dislikes me as well for giving factual basis for why I want CTC gone. Guy is delusional in his support for Crean as the long-term solution. I also got a ban from him and didn't post for months
-
Amen. It's for the long-term good of the program to lose a lot in these final 2 weeks. Crean needs to go this year, or next year will be an extremely toxic environment for all involved (coach, admin, fans, players, etc...)
-
Ya, I meant the probability of winning all 4 of those combined. I think we can take any 1 of the 4, but together? Nahhhhh
-
Oh I agree we'd get in with wins against those 4 teams, but I find the likelihood of that happening 0.00000001%
-
I pissed down my leg, shat my pants, smacked my granny and snorted my La Croix after reading this it was so funny. If we win those 4 games, I'll erect a statue of CTC and be his biggest supporter for the rest of my days. That's how confident I am we don't.

I've heard that Vitale basically has a 'care-taker' type person that goes with him everywhere now. One of my buddies said he saw Dickie V at the UNC/Duke game last year with the caretaker and he was told it's his 'permanent chaperone' now.
-
I like those as my top 3, albeit in a different order. Regardless, I'd be content with any of said 3.

Not a fan - doesn't teach D at a high level consistently and there's much better options imo.

This is a little off-topic, but I've seen Mike White's name thrown around as a possible candidate for the IU job. While I think he's a fantastic young coach and would likely be an upgrade over CTC, is there any mention or possibillity of him being a replacement candidate when Coach K retires? How keen is Duke on keeping a Coach K groomed coach as the HC (i.e. Collins, Capel, etc...) vs. an 'outsider'? Reason I ask is I was just made aware that Mike White's dad is the current AD at Duke, Kevin White, and has been the AD there since 2008.
-
Agreed. I don't want the next coach to have had an adj D lower than the top 50 in the last 3 years. After watching CTC's teams play little to no defense the last 9 years, I want some semblance of fundamentals shown on the floor, especially on defense.

I can tell you a few things, as I watch UD basketball second to IU (went to Dayton and lived in the area for 6-7 years before moving south). Archie started his first 2 yrs at UD with 20-13 and 17-14 and hasn't won less than 25 since. He has the EE run that ppl point to, but also a remarkably similar curve upwards in his teams record, both in total wins and conference (7-9, 10-6, 13-5, 14-4). He coaches D at a high level, with his team's adj D finishing at 31, 15, and 22(current year). He's led UD to the best 3 year winning stretch in program history and will likely lead them to their 4 straight NCAA appearance (something CTC has NEVER done btw). Factor in the roster challenges he has faced in the last few years (one year he had no one over 6'6 due to kicking some gents to the curb) and you start to see why he's an up and coming coach many are excited about.

Prediction League (Game 26 - Michigan 2/12/17)

Not that most people needed another reason to want CTC gone, but I read a piece last night with a disturbing statistic. Over the last 4 seasons, we're 36-29 in the BiG with three finishes of seventh or worse over last four seasons – including this one not yet concluded. I decided to extrapolate on that further. Take since 2012 and we're 61-41 in conference. Other than the 2 BiG championships CTC has won(remove 2013 and 2016) we're 32-34. Under .500 in conference for 2012, 14, 15, and this year. That's insanity, that more often than not in the last 6 years we've been under .500 in conference.
-
How ugly does this thing get if, and likely a BIG if, CTC does return next year?
-
I think we'll lose 3 of our next 4. Other than PSU, NW, and Mich at home and stealing 1 on the road, I see us finishing 8-10 or best case 9-9 in conference. That should not be acceptable.

Fred Glass accepts mediocre basketball
weaverswonders6 replied to Magnanimous's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
IF a change isn't made this year, Glass has to know the boo birds will be out in full force next year. They started showing up a couple years ago at home games. If we lose 3 of our next 4, things will really be ugly for those last 2 home games against Michigan and Northwestern. -

We Are The Champions IU vs Iowa Post Game Thread
weaverswonders6 replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
69 Mets, 1980 USA hockey team, Cinderella man, Rocky,etc... The job this team and coaching staff did after the Duke game is up there for me with underdog, under the radar, come from being knocked down wins. I'm not gonna get crazy and say CTC is the long-term answer at HC and should get another extension, but dang....I've definitely loved the ride this year and hope it translates to a deep tourney run as well. Great job boys, way to overcome a sloppy finish to win it outright!! -
The conversation on booing your own team seems to always illicit strong responses and is one I was having with friends last night over drinks. I may be in the minority here, but why is booing considered so bad? I haven't booed at a game before (and I'm really not sure I ever would), but I don't fault those people at Assembly Hall that wish to voice their frustrations in this manner. To be clear, I am only talking about Booing - not throwing stuff, yelling obscenities, vulgar degradement, etc...those types of actions shouldn't be justified ever. It costs a great deal to go to a game. From the cost of travel, gas, parking, to the general admission prices, food while I am there, and any team swag I want to purchase, it's very easy for one game at the Hall to cost hundreds of dollars per person. The people spending this money are expected to cheer their team on, clap, stand up, etc...when the team is doing well and playing their hearts out. And it's fun to do so. As Yogi's mom put it in her post, it's entertainment. However, when that entertainment stops being fun because the team you adore isn't playing with any heart, energy, or desire and we are getting our butts stomped, why can't you voice your displeasure? As one ESPN article put it, you are "buying the right to literally voice your opinion within earshot of the overpaid underachievers who deny you your bragging rights and disgrace the good name of your city and team." It's an old debate, but I'm curious if most find it disgraceful. I think someone can be an enormous fan, supporter, etc...of a team, but still voice their displeasure when the team they love doesn't perform to the standards they're expected to. I'm not talking about wins and losses here either. Sure, our W/L record is about where pre-season experts picked it. I think everyone can agree the team played with little to no heart against Iowa. Some will say booing helps nothing. It hurts the cause. The players already know they messed up, so you are adding insult to injury. However, isn't the booing a method for voicing your displeasure to the administration as well? Lord knows picking up the phone and calling Fred Glass won't accomplish much. However, when he's in the Hall for a game and sees large sections half empty, hears the boo birds calling when the team is underperforming, do you believe that influences his decisions at all?

No YouTube. I'm a TH11. Used to be in a top 100 clan, Hitmen(may have dropped some), but now jump around war clans. Maybe after next war, I'll pop in to yours.
