(2016) PF T.J. Leaf to UCLA
WBHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Forget all else, if I was an 18 year old kid who'd pledged my future and gone all in with a school I'd be pretty devastated. -
What about Thon? Do we still have that half-year scholarship left over from Luke Fischer? Would that work?

Yogi Leaning towards leaving per multiple sources
WBHoosier replied to BriscoeShoemaker's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I just don't know who I would trust leading everyone if Yogi leaves. I just don't know why he would want to...still don't get that. -
There's been a lot of negativity any time a highly-touted, hyped recruit is in IU's spotlight (some of it for very good reason) and I've been extra-guilty of that. But for some reason I find myself saying "why not us?" with this one.

Some kids believe they are NBA bound and cling to that. East Tennessee State = Immediate Playing time as the focus of the offense most likely. They're hoping that they can turn it all around.

No i'm with you, Crean either 1) Knows someone is leaving, 2) Is trying to get somebody to leave, 3) is going all in this year without regard to the future because he knows this is a make or break-down-crying-because-glass-fired-you-year, 4) or he knows that 2015 recruiting isn't going well for him and he'd rather have Holt with a year of development than any of the 2015 players he can actually at that position. My 2 cents? HMP doesn't get along with Crean like the rest of that class (sans Yogi) didn't, he's frustrated he's not developing like he wants to (whether that's his fault or not is irrelevant), his best friend (PJ) is gone, and Hanner is making waves. I think Crean is trying to send a message saying "here's your replacement, you've used up your time here and my patience with you, move along now". COMPLETELY A GUESS, no source no nothing, that's just me reading the tea leaves.

(2014) SF Jonah Bolden to UCLA
WBHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
When is his top 5 supposed to come out? I haven't heard anything on it today. -
As a 6-4 junior PG, unless you handle the ball like Pritchard and shoot like...well pritchard, you're bound to get some serious looks.

Early Signing Period Starts this Week Nov.13-20
WBHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't think that necessarily pertains to basketball...do you know how many times I felt this way about a girl or a friend as a senior in high school? Tons. -

WBHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I know I'm going to regret saying this because of the debate it will probably bring back up...but I'd be okay if he didn't sign it at all lol. -
man. that would be so freakin awesome. That kid is incredible. He's MCW but less raw, better attitude (from what I can tell), MORE athletic, can draw the foul and finish, AND he's a knockdown shooter. Man.

(2014) PG JaQuan Lyle to Oregon
WBHoosier replied to All_Hoosiers's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Took this girl out once who went to WVU...she said it was a joke. got in with a 2.2 and left with lower. (FYI made sure there was no second date haha). -
What Three Things Will You Be Watching For In Friday's Game?
WBHoosier replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
1. How we start - we need to play with 100% effort and focus all the time, not just when we fall behind. Some games, once you fall behind there is no coming back. 2. Turnovers/Free throws - I lump them together because they can both be solved with focus and practice. 3. Who plays the shooter? - SOMEONE has to try and stretch the floor, so who plays that role and who succeeds in it? -
OT: Trey Lyles Family was "Attacked" by Hoosiers
WBHoosier replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Hahaha! 99% sure it is...read the bio. Found it in the comments on a pUKe site this morning where everyone was blasting IU fans. A few of their fans were actually saying 'no this is bs, those parents suck look at his dad' and then talked about this. Absolutely hilarious. -
I totally get that analogy - and he's right. Not everyone views Indiana as the only place to go. Can't just accept a verbal and then forget about the kid, especially if you're recruiting others at his position. Because the commitment is just that - verbal. If there's one thing the 2014 recruiting class taught us, it's that verbal commitments don't mean a thing. That said, it's hard to keep a kid happier to play backup minutes at IU than to start somewhere else. Especially when he's already 3rd on the depth chart, you're adding another star guard recruit, and talking about adding ANOTHER...
-
seems like more of a 'keep him happy' visit as his role for next year becomes unclear with these additions (both potential and already added).

OT: Trey Lyles Family was "Attacked" by Hoosiers
WBHoosier replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Come on guys, they totally are victims here. His father sings about his struggles, clear-cut morals, and his appreciation for family in such classics as "pumpin the P***y", "HIV", "C*M", and "Serious S*x". Yeah...real class act. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/tlyles2 ...see for yourself. If you see the album cover, just know that I call dibs on it for my avatar... -
What did his dad want out of the deal specifically?
-
Anyone care to rehash the whole "behind the scenes" story with Trey Lyles? From commit to decommit and beyond would be great.

Holy Crap! JB2 Picked IU In A Buzzer Beater

Forgot who said it before, but I'm only gonna be comfortable once he signs that LOI... -
Holy Crap! JB2 Picked IU In A Buzzer Beater
WBHoosier replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
yeah i'm calling shennanigans. I think this is just a PR move to make the fact that a UK legacy went to IU look better. So many sources around him were so confident (ND kendrick, Jaquan Lyle, etc). I honestly wish he would say "man I've known all along it would be bloomington." Happy to have him, but it kinda feels like he flipped a coin in a sense. -
They ALL have to know something that hasn't hit yet. Either the DRob source was a very credible source, or there's something out there that hasn't hit.
-
Weird thing, hope I don't jinx it, but hasn't almost EVERY other recruitment we've had followed the EXACT OPPOSITE feel that this one is taking on? Steps 1-27: IU leads. Step 28: A shred of info is leaked, doubt is formed Step 29: A tailspin ensues where we fall from grace faster than my blood sugar 20 mins after eating a case of krispy kremes. Step 30: Kid announces, confirming the picks all the experts switched at the last second. Even if he does pick UK, it's very refreshing to not have to watch the impending doom and tailspin for the 24 hours beforehand.

So true.

ND Kendrick just switched his CB pick to IU.
