Archie with 3 in-home 5 star visits today 247 reports. Keion Brooks and TJD the coverboys. Not sure who the third is. People here probably know. Probably in their individual threads here. Going to look there now. Feel free to share the info with me here if you've got it. Thanks.

    Summer of 2018

You can see by that video this staff places a huge emphasis on having fun in the process. I like that approach a lot.

    (2019) C James Wiseman

He was hyped so hard on the board, I assumed he was really good. Iirc he was ranked highly, and recruited by other good programs. Sometimes a lot of people miss on a recruit.

(2019) SF Trendon Watford to LSU

Yeah, and the team never could figure out how to get him the ball down low, so by mid January the offense had evolved into just giving him the ball at the top of the arch and telling him to do something with it lol shoot it, run up the middle, whatever you want to do with it, Noah.
  7. A reminder: Brian Snow never picks anybody to IU until we have already known for a month the recruit is coming to IU. Always way under on IU, and always way over on Ohio State. Always. Ever since he started in the biz. Get DJ in for a visit when he can hang out and play with our incoming freshmen. I think he is probably going to have a blast at the same time he compiles a great amount of knowledge. Archie seems to go after not only guys who are really good, but they also seem to be having a lot of fun playing the game. Not goof off fun. Good competitive fight and win fun. Working hard not because it is a chore that must be done, but because this is where they want to be almost all the time.

    2018-2019 Rotation Discussion Thread

Ah it's OK to get excited. We've earned it. When summer is over and it gets cold again, next year we very likely could be able to dig in and enjoy a very nice winter. Not rushing the end of summer, just not dreading the winter to follow. That is such a great feeling.

    2018-2019 Rotation Discussion Thread

The mix and match potential of the new roster is probably going to be difficult to limit. I like the 5 you presented too. Just mostly looking at the potential of these 5 reaching their ceiling by March, and what that would mean to the team. Not saying this should be our starting lineup Game 1, or that they should play the most minutes, or that this is the supreme collection of the 5 best guys on the team lol. Phinisee Langford Hunter Smith Morgan Phinisee could come in and give us a freshman Yogilike contribution. Langford Hunter is the guy we would all be gushing about if Langford did not commit to IU. Smith cracked the starting lineup as a freshman. Imagine what he could become in the offseason, and then after another full year of development while mostly starting for IU. Morgan appears capable of making another Oladipolike offseason jump, probably working a lot on his shot, and everything else the NBA people suggest he improve upon. I am guessing Juwan is going to often play a similar position to the position he played last year, a 4, with no 5 on the floor, just not exclusively playing in that role. Devonte is another player I expect to improve dramatically in the offseason. He seemed on the verge of becoming that dependable piece several times last year. But like you say, "trick or treat" lol. I too think RP is going to push Devonte from Day 1, and I think Devonte will probably learn from RP, the same way RP will learn a lot from Green. Yes, drooling is good this year.

    2018-2019 Rotation Discussion Thread

Yes, but remember the freshmen have not yet arrived on campus, and I am not saying that this should be the starting lineup Day 1. Look at the ceiling of that group developing to their potential by March combined with the rest of the team and drool with me. The mix and match options with the new roster allow for so many different possibilities of 5 on the floor at a time. I like the 5 you presented too.

I don't mean that this should be the group taking all the minutes. I am saying look at the potential of that group, if they can all reach their fullest potential by March. That is an athletic group with decent size capable of scoring on you hard at every position.

That group looks like it can score in so many ways. So many options the way this roster has been constructed I am drooling.

    2018-2019 Rotation Discussion Thread

The following is an extremely young lineup, but thinking of the best possible outcomes coming true developmentally by March for all of these guys, just dream about how good this group could be when they are on the floor together: Phinisee Langford Hunter Smith Morgan

    Evan Fitzner to IU

He is a senior who played the pack line defense for 3 years. That is two more years than anybody else on the roster has played at this level. He is a 6'10" wing or stretch 4 who has been a reliable shooter, particularly from distance, and he hasn't turned the ball over at an alarming rate in the past. While I am not predicting this to be the starting lineup Day 1 or even the group of 5 receiving the most minutes per game, I expect to see this personnel group on the floor at times, given Archie's penchant for playing upper classmen, and I expect this group to be very successful +/- together. Green Langford Mc Roberts Fitzner Morgan Fitzner offers a dependable and experienced outside shot, while drawing a big out to the perimeter, allowing Langford and Morgan to work their games mid range and down low. On the other end, he probably knows almost instinctively by now where he is supposed to be on the floor on defense, and what he is supposed to be doing there, and can communicate where others are supposed to be, and what they are supposed to be doing there in given situations during games to all of the rest of our guys who have one year experience tops playing the pack line defense at the collegiate level. I think his presence on the floor saves Archie a lot of time outs, and Archie's timeouts seem to carry a good amount of value.

Ah OK. Rural teen gang in Oklahoma lol. Now I gotta know what is the quote? Is it 'that's tuff?' as in 'that's cool?' and that is the origin of that? and all this time I thought it was Solluminati. OK so that's where Solluminati got it? that's cool, I mean that's tuff.

Nobody really knows until college life starts, and practices begin, and life happens. Romeo, just like all freshman undergrad students, is moving out of his parents' home and into his own life for the first time for a year, or however many years he decides, and he is doing that in Bloomington, at Indiana University. He will never experience anything like that college life at IU again in his life. If he bolts for the NBA straight from his freshman year in college, he is almost assuredly going to have a very good life. That is already most likely in the cards for Romeo no matter what. And his first year in the NBA is always most likely going to be unbelievably great whether he goes pro after freshman year or later, but would that ever be as good in full, in retrospect, as living an extra very early adult year or more in life in college in Bloomington, Indiana at Indiana University in his very early prime? Idk. Think about how good life is when you move out for the first time into your own life, and you do that with 50,000ish+ of your very similar peers. I think it is a question worth asking. The Zeller family sent 3 children to the NBA, and Papa Zeller encouraged Cody to stay at IU at least one extra year past freshman year even when Cody was projected upper mid 1st round, after Papa had already sent two children to the NBA before Cody, and he encouraged Cody to do that because he wanted Cody to experience at least one more year in that once-in-a-lifetime place in life and time. And if you ask Cody today about that decision he made to stay an extra year in Bloomington, do you think he regrets that year in Bloomington? Or do you think he wishes he could have another year even better than the one he spent in Bloomington in college as a sophomore?

Interesting. I do wonder how that is all going to play out when the one-and-done rule is ended, if it ends as is expected. Will high school students be allowed to enter for the draft, and if they are not picked straight out of high school, will they be allowed to accept a scholarship and play college ball? I don't see why that would not be allowed once the one-and-done rule is rescinded. But who knows? Whatever happens, schools will still compete for the top athletes remaining, and some of those athletes will prove to be amazing, and show NBA scouts in their freshman year that they are really good, really promising, got overlooked/missed in AAU/high school for whatever combination of many, many reasons. Here is another completely different thought to add to your really good post. Zeller had the opportunity to go pro after his freshman year, but opted to stay at IU one more year for several reasons, 1) he was having a blast, coz duh (IU college experience) X (being Cody Zeller there,) 2) he had a chance to bring a new banner back to the rafters, 3) he could improve his stock from mid-1st round to top of the draft. If Romeo stays at IU two years, does that really drop Indiana stock from buy to sell for the top talent in future recruiting classes?

But the quality of typical Monday productivity in comparison to Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday productivity is so much less it does not matter as much. Ah, Romeo, you think of everything, don't you.
