I am so glad to see the timeouts inside of 4 minutes, the two-for-ones, the knowing what to do

2013-14 was the last time they won the game before they played IU. They beat Illinois at the Breslin that year, and Illinois wasn't very good relatively speaking. They practice for us at the expense of the game before us. They take a mulligan the game before IU. Remember what they did to us last year we played them at the Breslin one game after they lost one?

    Style over substance

I googled it because I wanted to know the exact word used since yours was censored, and this came up near the top of the queue. It doesn't mean you can't continue to use it. I intend to add it to my repertoire now that I have heard it for the first time. It's a good one. In fact I think I am going to begin using it every time in conversation a children's tv show comes up. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/that-oughta-hold-the-little-bastards/

Yes, I noticed that too. Eerie.

My recollection may be tainted a little by the family ties. The way I remember it he carried that team during their run. He was a very good high school basketball player. Knight liked him a lot. And IU fans liked him sort of the way IU fans liked Errick Suhr when he played, but I think IU fans liked Dakich a little more in his day. It's not as if there is no good reason to like him. I understand some people don't. I am not signing off on everything he does. I just like Dakich.

Try to keep your relationship with God close in your tough times. He seems to really cherish and reward that. Praying for you and your family now too, especially for the little one.

Friend of the family, so yeh I like him. I like his radio show when I listen to it, and enjoy his commentary during games. Was not aware of his dislike for Archie. If that is correct it does not taint my opinion of either tbh. IMO you can disagree with a person, even disagree about really big matters, sometimes even nearly all of the time and still like each other. I often wish more people felt the same way. If you watched him play for Andrean High School and carry that tiny high school basketball team to State in '79-80 you would like him.

Wow. Friend to everybody. That is so not easy to do. I am very sorry his family and closest friends have to experience this loss. Prayer offered on his and their behalf.

Right, I get that. And I also get having tickets to entertain big time clients too. But I do not understand just throwing away $800 per person on a football game just because you can. Almost everybody can do that. Most find something more worthwhile to do with the money though. Not something to brag about, more like something to be ashamed of lol.

    Injury Updates

Yes. I am all about researching, and spending my money wisely to pay for more awesome things like that. I researched buying my new jeep for 2 months, and saved $10,000 by doing that. I literally became an expert in the jeep market in the US in just a little over 2 months, and almost as much an expert in flights to and from China, Japan, Singapore. I can save money and hassle on the Chinese Visa by including third, and even fourth and fifth cities of travel to and from other countries in the region too. PM me if you are considering taking the family to China. I can share with you what I know so far, and save you tons of money.

    Injury Updates

Exactly. I tend to think of it in terms of travel and family too. I could pay several months of my girlfriend's parents mortgage for that, or take her to China for $800. When you think of it in those terms, don't you wonder how people can justify that expense for a football game, and are you not shocked and do you not do a double-take when people brag about it? When people brag like that I always wonder how someone could be so completely unaware of how so much of the rest of the world lives, or simply just not even care. I have concluded that one must work very hard to keep from cluttering the mind and the soul with such thoughts.

    RIP - Terry Hutchens - 1958-2018

Wow. Prayers for Hutch, a guy gifted with a knack for making everybody feel like an important part of a very wide circle of friends in the IU and Indy sporting communities. Look at the names tweeting get well wishes, and then think of how he spoke with you here and elsewhere, just one of the guys.

    Injury Updates

Exactly what I was thinking, only I was thinking $600, not $300, because the cheapest ticket you can get to a Bears game is $610, and then you pay for parking at Soldier Field. The cheapest parking pass for a Bears game is $209. And those sellout. So yeh, not too worried about football dying out anytime soon.

Great awe and thanks to God for the many, many blessings heaped upon me in the year of the dog. Amazing.
  17. If there is an unofficial protocol I am breaking by posting this, sorry! Plz PM with unofficial game thread protocol if so. Thx. Really looking forward to tonight's matchup v. Penn State on the road. And loving the new tougher scheduling allowing the opportunity to get straight into meaningful games and meaningful stretches of games. I stopped watching the creampuff games becoz what's the point? If we crush a creampuff, we are supposed to crush creampuffs, and who wants to watch that? And if we don't crush the creampuff, who wants to watch that? Hoping Juwan can play and play a lot tonight. Also hoping to see some of the MIA's get in the game tonight. Let's earn a big road win tonight, fellas.

Whoo-Hoo-Hoo-Hoo! I for one like the tight-lipped gamesmanship/HIPAA respect/whatevs it is. Our board sleuths can hone their sleuthing skills and outham each other to get us the breaking news. Fun for all. The lol sleuthing in the injury thread reminded me some of what I like about this site.
