  1. This was a terrible loss to say the least. But I'm not too concerned about our freshmen playing poorly in a game this early in the season. It could turn out to be rather constructive for them moving on. However, when our 6'9" experienced big man can only gather 1 rebound, that is just sad. In fact, with the length of his arms, he's basically a 7 footer. During his entire time at IU he has practiced against lottery picks and has yet to show any improvement.    But what's even more sad than that? The fact that Crean continues to say that he is playing well. There was one reporter in the post game that asked Crean about Perea's 14 minutes, 4 points, and 1 rebound. Crean immediately said he thought he played well. That's delusional. Someone needs to post the stats of his opponent in his locker. Get HMP angry. Toughen him up.

    The Aftermath

To be fair, Perea has stayed out of trouble since his incident. There is word of his improvement as well. I think he finally understands his role. Yogi has also stayed out of trouble since his arrest, but he needs to take the position of leadership. He was the only major contributor on the Big Ten title team that we have. Though Holt may have had a beer or so at that party, I firmly believe he was trying to be responsible as the DD and from word of Devin's careless action, Holt was still at blame. I have sympathy for Holt and I do NOT question his character or appreciation for being a Hoosier. Sadly, I think this incident is the only way to wake these kids up. Stan should probably be kicked off the team, but that's not going to happen. Troy needs to understand that he is putting his potential NBA hopes at risk. I agree, no more slaps. Whatever they do "in-house" as far as punishment, lets hope it leaves an impact.

    The Aftermath

With all of the tragic events that have taken place, I'm still trying to grasp onto the little bit of hope that I have for this team. I'm hoping that the reference to the "slap in the face" is exactly what this team needs. We are young, but we are very talented. We still have a great guards and a surplus of shooters that have stayed out of trouble so far this year. I'm holding on to the hope that the current actions that Troy and Stan have taken will make them realize how much this program means to its fans and how much this season means to their coach. I'll admit, I have been a Crean supporter simply because I want it to work out for him, but he needs to make a statement to these boys. Unfortunately, I do not believe the two season game suspension is not taking a stance, but rather, a slap on the wrist.   I'm currently a senior here at IU, and I came here simply because I wanted to watch IU basketball. This program means so much to us. Unless more bad news surfaces, I'm still going to hold on to hope. The bright side is that these events didn't happen during the Big Ten season. There is still plenty of time left for this team to become a tourney team. I say we support those that have worked their tails off and have stayed out of trouble. For those that have gotten in trouble, I say we hope they mature, learn from their mistakes, and support them if/when they improve their behavior.
