Reitz lacks size and strength. Lander looked like he was trying too much at times, but he showed flashes. The dunk to start the game and several nice finds in the offense/transition that his teammates just couldn’t finish. Reitz didn’t have another kid that could score consistently and he was being face guarded. Still want him very badly. He’s a hooper, needs to get stronger and develop a more consistent jumper. Pierce Thomas is uber athletic, still raw but made a lot of great reads seems like a kid that goes to Butler and is killing us in Crossroads Classic twice. I was impressed by Blake Sisley too, his team didn’t feed him enough or he could’ve had 30 points, real nice with his back to the basket. Both 4 year guys. Release Dwight Freeney and restructure Manning’s contract. Manning has been playing behind an average to bad o-line his last few years as a colt regardless. Freeney was released the falling season anyways. Not like Grigson did anything with the Manning money to assemble a roster. Difference between not having the money and not wanting to pay him. Or why didn’t they just retain Manning through the remainder of his contract. Let Luck sit a year or two then turn over the reigns. Something I truly never understood was cutting an All-time great to let a rookie start. I realize it’s a bunch of money but Luck wouldn’t have been taking those hits. As someone in their early 20s I grew up watching IU but didn’t fall in love with IU until the C-Wat shot and that Zeller Oladipo team the following year. I’m sure these guys feel the same. Having the #1 team in the country those years is definitely playing a small factor. Everyone sees what we can become, I remember walking into Assembly hall as a 7th grader and it was rocking all game, something I’ll never forget. I don’t really understand the narrative that Archie isn’t passionate. You don’t have to be a cheerleader, jumping up and down on tv to be passionate about the program. He’s finding kids that want to be here truly. Before this year we didn’t really have ambassadors to the brand that were on the team. TJD alone will recruit every kid that gets an IU offer. Galloway is recruiting Dawson Garcia and Lander for us already. This hasn’t been happening in the last 10 years. I’ll be the Hoosier Guy for Lander. No prospect I want more to see in an IU uniform more the next two years. Smart. Athletic. Knows how to use his speed and agility well at a young age. Kid played well at TCU. 12 points and 5 assists and then got hurt. I’d love to see him here, I think he could be another scoring option and another guard I’d trust bringing the ball up. He was a Crean recruit but never played for him. Never got any of the Crean habits. Archie still has gotten the chance to develop them from day one on campus. So yeah if you want to consider them “Crean” players then sure but the junior class (2016) wasn’t good. Deron is the best player, even with the injuries, CuJo transfered, Green and then Gelon who transferred, but those were the freshman on campus. You’re supposed to get the most out of your Juniors and Seniors and we haven’t the past 2 seasons. Morgan is the only player left from the 2015 class, he’s doing his best but the 2016 class having nothing and 2017 not having a PG to lead or a guard that can score or any true scorer in the class puts a lot of pressure on inexperienced players playing their first season in a hard B10. Gotta get rid of the Crean players before Archie will find a solid groove. This year other than Juwan Morgan, the best players on our team have been freshman. I just keep thinking how good a junior Phinisee and Senior Durham and Senior Smith. Then throw in Archie recruiting classes which so far each has included a 5 star and a 4 star prospect. Give the man some time to build it, everybody’s so impatient. Two years from now we could have one of the premier rosters in the country through development and recruiting imo. I agree. Hilton is an undersized #1 receiver who would play slot or #2 on a lot of teams. He is also 29, only has maybe 4 good years left, if that.
