(2015) C Caleb Swanigan to MSU
HoosierD replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Heard that Barnes feels like he fits in best at Purdue bc he can play the 4 there. Swanigan wants to go to Cal w/ Rabb, Barnes is trying to get him to wait longer bc it's a business decision (play the 4 at PUke), not an emotional decision (have to play the 5 at Cal bc Rabb is a 4). -
Change that FT lineup to: Yogi 86% JBJ 80% Z 76% Troy 74% TB Looked good in the HS nat'l tourney.

Chapter Two: Now Indiana Needs Depth @ The 5 Spot
HoosierD replied to Naismith's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
He also doesn't have any ACL left....in either knee!!! As Hova said, he is the definition of a man. -
I think you're spot on with better athlete, but not near the shooter. But my goodness does his shot not look smooth and easy right here: http://youtu.be/jfuEBMhuhu0

Only losing one guard and we all were frustrated when Stan came in. I don't think we need anymore than those 4. They will play so many minutes that I think you will see 3 of them in the game quite often.

Who Will Be Next Year's Hartman or Zeisloft?
HoosierD replied to rebelhoosier848891's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
DD. Many are worried he could never be the same or never play, but I'm going to keep hope that he comes back and is a big time spark. -
Agree with everything except the freshman stuff. Their 4 freshmen are all McDonalds All-Americans. I think being too young is a real thing and is reasonable to say about our teams the last couple of years. The problem I have is if Crean is saying that nearly every year, then when is he going to say "oh s***, I need to do something to fix this!" That's what irritates me about him saying that all the time.

I've heard he will likely end up JUCO next year. Vincennes is a good possibility.

[attachment=1936:ImageUploadedByBtownBanners1428184024.977794.jpg] When I saw this the first thing that came to mind was that Juwan was hinting that TB's commitment was going to snowball into everyone staying and a Thon commitment. I'm reading WAY too much into it, but as Alaska has showed us all, it's ok to dream big and convince ourselves that he's coming.

Crean Recruitment in the Midwest?
HoosierD replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Ok I'm done. I'm not understanding where you're coming from and you aren't understanding me. I'm sorry I put words in your mouth, and I was in no way trying to argue. I just wanted to make my point and you wanted to make yours. Unfortunately we don't understand each other and that's ok. You're still my Old Friend, ya know. ELE -
Crean Recruitment in the Midwest?
HoosierD replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I made the question clear. Yes, I'm sure those two couldn't have done what Sheehey did in the same role, they don't even belong in the same conversation as him. I was unaware Oladipo played every minute of every game. And I understand you are in no way a Sheehey fan, that's fine, I just think you are underselling him A LOT. This all started with me answering to you saying that you could find them in Indiana, which at that time you couldn't get someone bc that class had nobody that would have fit his role. That's all I've got for you Old Friend....agree to disagree. -

But then you say it is on him that he couldn't get last years team to the tourney. How can you give all the credit to the guys around him on the good team and then not place the blame on the guys around him last year? The reason comparing careers is fair is bc he could have played anywhere they played at and only one of them could he not play in front of them. Russell Byrd no longer plays D1, Donnie Hale was a 4 and struggled to see the floor on bad Purdue teams, and the others played at mid majors. And yes his athleticism played a great deal into his role. He provided energy, of which he used his athleticism to give. He defended other teams best wing players, while defense can be a lot effort, it also takes his type of athleticism to be as good as he was on defense. -

Only one of them had a better college career than Sheehey and none of them are the athlete that he was, which is what made him so good at his role. I'm just as much about staying in Indiana to recruit as the next person, but to say you can find Will Sheehey's everywhere in Indiana just doesn't make sense to me. -

Never said he was a star, just disagreed with the idea that you can find one of him everywhere. -
Crean Recruitment in the Midwest?

Guess we will have to agree to disagree, Bc yes how tall and athletic you are does play into basketball ability, otherwise Jordan Hulls would be in the league. Just those two factors alone don't make you a good player and I completely understand that and even hit on it in my last post. -

6'6" with a 40" vertical....come on, you can't find that 30 min from Bloomington on any given year. And the years that you can, the kid is probably not very good at basketball. -
Love the way he passes out of the post. Has good vision and his passes are crisp.

2015 Transfers and Early Entries
HoosierD replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think that has a lot to do with Nebraska underperforming and him being the go to guy on their team. I just think when he's put into a role to do what he does best and not have to create for everyone else then he will succeed. He's got everything it takes and was on the radar for the majority of the year. -

Yep, they needed him to make plays for everyone and instead he really just scored. -

Hadn't heard that. That's very unfortunate and I can't imagine how tough it would be. Wish him nothing but the best. I think he will make a solid role player in the NBA, just don't think his style was what they needed this year to win. -
Thomas Bryant will make a bigger impact than Thon Maker. It's been reported that Thon is more raw than what his highlights show. Thomas is more physically ready at this point and will be next season. Now as for Thon, just bc I don't think he will be as impactful immediately, that doesn't change the fact that he probably has more potential than anyone ever. Also the supporting cast around Zeller might have had better basketball IQs, but idk that you can say they're better. If Thomas were to come in next year the talent level around him would be higher than that around Zeller.

Will be addition by subtraction for Nebraska. -
They lose 3 each year, so that would put them at 10.
