Who would you hire to replace CTC?
HoosierD replied to KelleyHoosh's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball

They can make that decision whenever, they can play overseas at any time. It's not picking on athletes, it's looking out for them. Players learn the game and are taught how to play and carry themselves in college. In the nba they either get it or they don't. They don't teach players the game, sure they might pick up on stuff from veterans, but they tell them their roles and play them their set minutes each game, but they get better and learn on their own. It's in no way holding them back if they make them stay for 3 years, it's just making the game better from top to bottom.

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
Only alternate I would like to see is one similar to what Kansas wore on the left. I like the script writing on the traditional warm-ups and they should use that on a cream color and even a crimson one would look cool. Just one game in each every year tho.[attachment=559:ImageUploadedByBtownBanners1394689120.654561.jpg]

Cards fan! Big Mac was my guy around the time I first remember watching and understanding and they've been my team ever since. Just wish the Hoosiers could keep pace with how consistent the Cards are at winning and being a contender nearly every year.

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I understand Stauskas as POY bc of them being the best team in the B1G, but last I checked you play on both ends of the floor and Gary Harris is 1st team all-B1G and defensive team. He can't help that his team didn't stay healthy and he still showed up and performed, on both ends, like everyone expected.

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Next years draft is not nearly as stacked as this year. He's not at his peak as far as draft stock goes even if Jabari and Embiid stay. He's floating around 5-8 now and would be top 5 next year with a chance to keep adding to his game.

I understand why he would go bc of being a lottery pick right now but your first contract isn't whats makes you big money, it's the second and third. By staying he's able to prepare himself to be good right away.

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

You can but I'm taking hollowell over him any day. Back up pg was Remy's actual position and he made the exact same plays hollowell does. By the end of the season you will be glad to have hollowell as the back up point. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

IU vs UCONN Official Game thread
HoosierD replied to Naturalhoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Could you make that play? He got the board and the guy stripped him on the way down so idk what he was really supposed to do. Good defensive play, that's it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

They are men. If you can't handle the other coach doing his job and coaching until the end then don't play sports. Part of the game and every coach would agree with it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
Official Indiana vs Stony Brook Game Thread!

You would say something negative. But the answer is you have to work on your offense as much as possible and especially with a young team. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
Besides maybe 2 or 3 bad ones he throws lobs that are catchable and tend to just get messed up by a contact. Wait until half way through the season and then we can have this conversation. Not enough evidence to support either side right now. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Yogi is an above average facilitator. And how is he not an elite athlete? Because he doesn't dunk on guys? I agree with you he will have a rough time making and staying on an NBA roster but I think he can do it. What did Derek fisher ever do exceptionally well? To me that's the most comparable guy that's already a proven pro. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

For anyone to say he is a bad coach or even say he's not good is a joke. I can guarantee you he did everything possible to prepare for the Syracuse game. At some point in time the players have to be held accountable. There were some really poor player performances in that game and that cannot be blamed on Crean. They knew where they needed to get the ball, they knew what shots to look for and they didn't execute. We would never win big games if he wasn't a good coach. Every game I have watched for the last 2 years and will be the same this year I think there is at least a chance for a win and that's bc Crean has put the talent together and coached everyone good enough to put them in that position. It's just a matter of whether players execute that night or in rare cases such as 2012 NCAA tourney game there's just that much more talent on the other team. I don't even think you can say he struggles with in-game decisions or coaching a half court offense. Many games have been won by adjustments made or play calls made in the game. And I'm willing to bet he doesn't say stand around and pass around the perimeter for our half court offense, the players just do that. Most teams have a go to motion offense that the coach should not have to call out when a play breaks down or transition offense is stopped. So my answer is yes he is a great program coach (recruiting, represents the university and state well, hypes other IU teams, etc.) and for now he is a good coach bc he lacks a national title. Great coaches win a title and to be a HOF coach you need to win a couple IMO. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I don't think he would mind. Rob comes off as one of those guys who wants to play with the best, and loves the competition for a position. Seems like one of those guys that just wants to win. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I am big on Hollewell so I've gotta disagree with you on this one. Watford has the numbers right now but JH hasn't had the opportunities to prove himself yet so can we really say he's that inconsistent? The main thing I disagree with is that JH doesn't have the will. I think that's been proven wrong this summer as Crean has stated multiple times that JH has been in the gym as much as anyone, we have seen JH say he was very disappointed in the year he had and he will not let that happen again. In 4 years I never once heard Crean speak of Watford giving that type of effort over the summer that JH did. He definitely is a better talent, and I believe he will surprise you this year. I agree that it will be extremely hard to impact the program the way Vic did. The work ethic he had while here, the sudden outburst, the way he carried himself, you could go on for days but it really comes down to the timing of all those factors. That's why it will be nearly impossible to match the impact on the program. Now from a basketball standpoint it is more probable. Still in no way easy and we cannot say for sure that one of these guys can do it but they certainly have some great tools to start with that Vic didn't even have. Troy begins his career with a better jumper, arguably better handles, and has the size advantage. Have heard great things about the work ethic so far and the overall want to be great. Troy definitely has the best set of tools to be the next great Hoosier wing, but only time can tell. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

OT: Kentucky's Hardest Opponent is... Kentucky???
HoosierD replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Was able to watch most of the MSU exhibition on BTN earlier and there's no way the 2nd unit in Lexington is better than the starting 5 at MSU. Gary Harris is the best 2-guard in the country and Appling and Payne look ready to go. This early season schedule for college basketball will bless us with the chance to watch UK find out the truth. So many good games that have the top ranked teams beating each other up while our young Hoosiers get settled in and prepare for some cuse revenge. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Univ of Indy Plays Exhib Vs. 2 Future Opponents

I was told Bryson Scott got the start over Ronnie Johnson and that Painter hasn't been very happy with the way Ronnie has ran his team during their scrimmages. Ronnie was 0-4 during them while Bryson was 4-0. Just some info I found interesting and thought you guys would as well. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

HoosierD replied to All_Hoosiers's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
To me there's no such thing as recruiting over players. You recruit the best players you can with the idea that they fit your system the best. Did we recruit over sheehey by bringing in hollowell? No we just added to our depth. Same thing with Troy and devin Davis at that position this year. Cal does it how he has to which is recruit the best guys he can while still using guys that decide to hang around. Not saying I like him but he does a great job at what people want out of him at UK. Did you want us to let Hoetzel possibly slip to one of the other big time schools after him just bc we were worried about D Rob? There were Florida rumors before the Hoetzel visit was even talked about. Recruiting sucks, it's frustrating and takes way too much time out of my days by paying attention to it, but we are lucky enough to have a great staff of coaches that seem to be doing a pretty darn good job to me at recruiting. Shirt ended up being there in the end but he's a gator so it didn't matter. Never sure how true the rumors are but many think we have a better shot with JB tmr than we did today. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
We have Yogi, Stan, and Rob. Just need one guy on the court to run the point out of those three. The system Crean is running consists of having a pg and true big man (if needed), and then 3-4 wings who are long, athletic, and virtually interchangeable. Shocked by some of the poor reactions. He's 6'8 can shoot and is a good enough athlete. Crean sees talent as it is now and what it can be in the future, not just current rankings like the majority of cbb followers. Have heard worries of shooting with this years team so the addition of a very good shooter should make us happy. If ppl are worried that this guy isn't good enough to compete at this level than I can assure you D-Robb isn't worried about Max getting in the way of pt. On the hand if D-Robb is effected by this then to me it means Max is good enough to be at this level. Strong believer that this is a solid pick up and also doesn't effect the decision Wednesday. Come on Hoosier Nation, Max is "verbally" a Hoosier so let's have our guys back! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Yogi Will Troy Jeremy Noah Evan and/or Luke off the bench first. Then Stan and Hanner will mix in after. Would like to see these 9 or whatever the best 9 is be the only ones expected to see the floor in big games. Play more if needed but only when needed (foul trouble). Thoughts?
