I agree completely. I think a five foot floater/bank shot is so much better for a guard because of the size disadvantage. I wouldn't doubt that they are taught to attack the big men to draw fouls, even though it rarely works. -

Analytics says that's the worst possible shot to take. Doesn't give you the reward of 3 points and isn't as easy as a layup. Unless you are absolutely wide open, there really isn't a reason to shoot a midrange jumper. -

If they aren't listening, isn't that still on the coach? That has to do with the kids you recruit and their ability to be coached. He is the one recruiting them. Sure, the players could've been smarter, but if you attribute it to not listening, that's on the coach just as much as the players.
