Chalfant gets a pin. Hoosiers win 28-9. @HoosierDuals: Round Five Team Scores: Indiana 28, SIUE 9 ... Drexel 29, VMI 12 ... WVU 35, N. Colorado 4 Day 2 recap Hoosier Wrestling split a pair of duals on Day Two of the Hoosier Duals, coming up a tiebreaker short of a perfect 5-0 weekend. Individually, a quartet of Hoosiers did complete the flawless 5-0 Hoosier Duals mark though. Taylor Walsh, Ryan LeBlanc, Luke Sheridan and Adam Chalfant each arose victorious five times over the weekend, leading #25 Indiana to four team wins. The Hoosiers battled back from a 15-0 deficit to West Virginia (6-2) in Sunday's opener, coming back to even the score at 21-21. The officials had to dig deep into the rule book to determine a dual winner, ultimately decided on the third tiebreaker criteria. West Virginia's 32-29 advantage in non-fall bout points was the difference, giving the Mountaineers a 22-21 (TB) win. Indiana then bounced back against SIUE, topping the Cougars 28-9. Walsh extended his pinning parade, posting two more falls on Sunday. He has now stuck 10 consecutive opponents and owns a 20-0 record with 17 pins. That total is good for third place all-time in IU history and his 38 career falls rank fifth in school history. The school records are 19 (Rod Chamberlin, 1981) and 47 (Viktor Sveda, 1998-2002) for single season and career falls, respectively. Sheridan provided six team points in the Hoosier comeback effort against WVU as well, executing a head lock pin in under a minute. Goldman took the mat next, and kept the Hoosiers alive by grinding out a 6-5 decision over WVU's Mac Mancuso at 197 pounds. Goldman was a riding machine in the Hoosier Duals, racking up riding time and earning the bonus point in each of his four wins. Chalfant then capped off his undefeated weekend, pulling IU even at 21 points apiece on the strength of a 6-3 decision over A.J. Vizcarrondo. Sheridan's season record improves to 19-3, Chalfant's 14-1 and LeBlanc's ledger now sits at 21-4. After dropping his first bout of the Hoosier Duals, Goldman fired back to take the next four and move to 9-8 on the year. Joe Duca and Ethan Raley each contributed a win on Sunday as well, both going 3-2 for the event.

Walsh still rolling... :ninja: :assassin: Redshirt junior Taylor Walsh continued his 2013-14 pinning clinic, sticking all three foes to improve to 18-0 with 15 falls just over a month into the season. The 6th-ranked 157-pounder in the country now owns a share of fifth place all-time at IU for pins in a season; and his 36 career falls are slotted sixth in school history. The all-time record for season pins is 19 by Rod Chamberlin in 1981 and Viktor Sveda (1998-2002)'s 47 falls are the career high note. *Walsh's 15 pins are tied with Bill Paxton (1986), Rod Chamberlin (1980) and Gene Denisar (1968)

The #25 Indiana University wrestling team (5-0) shined on Day One of the 2013 Hoosier Duals, going 3-0 and outscoring the competition by a combined scored of 87-18. All 10 Hoosier starters got in on the success, each winning at least two of three bouts and half (5) the lineup going a perfect 3-0. In total, Indiana won 25 of 30 bouts on the day. No opponent reached double-digit point against the Cream and Crimson on Saturday as IU topped Northern Colorado (2-4), Drexel (3-9) and VMI (1-7) by final margins of 32-9, 29-9 and 46-0, respectively. The blanking of VMI marks Indiana's first Division-I shutout since besting Clarion 49-0 on Jan. 18, 2009. Redshirt junior Taylor Walsh continued his 2013-14 pinning clinic, sticking all three foes to improve to 18-0 with 15 falls just over a month into the season. *Walsh's 15 pins are tied with Bill Paxton (1986), Rod Chamberlin (1980) and Gene Denisar (1968) Heavyweight Adam Chalfant, ranked eighth nationally, provided the maximum 18 team points as well. He pinned both of his adversaries that took the mat, including #27 Henry Chirino (Northern Colorado) while also accepting a forfeit by Drexel to deliver his 18 points. The redshirt senior improved to 12-1 on the year. Following Walsh's triumphs at 157 pounds, Indiana did not suffer a defeat in the next three weight classes for the entirety of Day One. Ryan LeBlanc (165 lbs), Nate Jackson (174 lbs) and Luke Sheridan (184 lbs) matched Walsh by also going 3-0. The trio contributed bonus points to the Hoosier effort as well. LeBlanc and Sheridan notched tech falls while Jackson carded a pin and major decision. Sheridan's action was full of suspense, twice seizing victory in extra time. His first win came in sudden victory, followed by a tiebreaker win in bout number two. A quintet of Hoosiers took two out of three, a group including: Joe Duca (125 lbs), Chris Caton (133 lbs),Ethan Raley (141 lbs), Alex Gregory (149 lbs) and Garret Goldman (197 lbs). Bonus points came from Duca (tech fall), Caton (two major decisions) and Raley (tech fall). West Virginia (6-2) was victorious in each of its three duals Saturday as well, setting up a likely Hoosier Duals title match against the Hoosiers on Sunday at 11 a.m. Indiana will also face SIUE at approximately 1 p.m. to wrap up the round-robin affair. Final. LN 85, Marion 84. JB2 with 39 and Vijay had 12. Pretty good comeback attempt by Marion at the end. JB2 hit a 3 to tie it up @ 84 with 20 seconds left, then they fouled with 4 seconds left and LN only made 1 FT and JB2 missed a shot @ the buzzer. FYI: Radio for Marion games.
