Indiana University freshman forward has agreed to terms on a Homegrown deal with Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquakes, foregoing his final three seasons of eligibility with the Hoosiers.   Thompson is the first Hoosier to sign a contract under the League's Homegrown program. Created in 2008, the Homegrown program allows MLS teams to sign local players from their own development academies directly to their squad.   His older brother Tanner is also currently a freshman on the IU squad, as they continue a family line that started with their father Gregg, who played at IU from 1978-82 and is a member of the IU Athletics Hall of Fame. The elder Thompson co-captained IU's first NCAA title team in 1982, scoring both goals in a 2-1 eight-overtime win over Duke.
