NCAA Tourney: Crean vs Top 23 Salaried Coaches
IU Hoosier41 posted a topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The stats: As the talks of Donovan and others escalated, someone threw out how much money we'd need to swoon a big name coach. I thought it would be interesting to compare the top salary guys and their results. The consistency of reaching the tournament of the top 9 is incredible. Also factor in many of those miss years are at the beginning of their careers. Not only do they get to the tournament, they win while they are there. There are definitely tiers within college basketball coaching. Indiana currently isn't close to being considered in that elite tier. Hopefully some movement can get us moving in the right direction. What sticks out to you guys? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
I'm posting it just based on Hutch's response about him. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I'd say it would be brutal in there, but I'm not sure there will be enough people to qualify it at brutal. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

If Crean is gone, I hope the news comes within the next 24 hours. I would like Crean to have the final game at Indiana where the fans don't boo and are supportive and appreciative of him. He did a lot at IU and deserves to have a senior night type night instead of just an announcement. Would make Hoosier nation excited for the remainder of the season as well. I get what you are saying, but.... he's 100% inaccurate in what he wrote. Don't see that as an excuse, but see it more of a compliment to Hartman since senior night is approaching. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Questions about Crean's Coaching Tenure
IU Hoosier41 replied to Maynard's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
While I've never enjoyed Crean's offense, it has been highly effective. Watch some post game press conferences with other coaches to see what I mean. They hate playing Indiana's offense as it's incredibly difficult to prepare for. It's also the reason we say a bunch that Indiana is the only team that can beat Indiana. Kansas and UNC would agree with that. Luckily for the rest of our schedule Indiana has whooped Indiana. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
1. It's not Fred's way of doing things 2. Crean doesn't deserve to be fired for his performance at IU. It would have been a great ride for 95% of college ball teams out there. It's just not enough at IU. You can't fire Crean based on his recent performance over the last 5 years. You have to part ways because you don't think the future will get any better. Would bet all of my money Crean would never be fired from Indiana. If they want him gone it will be announced as a mutual split. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Coach Search 2017 IU Candidate: Billy Donovan (OKC Thunder)
IU Hoosier41 replied to Feathery's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Appreciate that, but I only get credit for the idea of starting the place. We've always been a community built site. Can't even begin to think of how many people have worked for BtownBanners over the years. Many many resumes feature us which is pretty damn cool. Thanks for being a member! Here's my thing w/ Donovan. The only way I really think conversations have been had is if Donovan's agent knows he wants to return to college. At that point his agent would be having discussions with people. I don't think this Indiana job can sway a NBA coach who is enjoying his time in the NBA. Only way it happens in my opinion is if Donovan is done and wants to go back to college, then Indiana would be near the top of open jobs for him. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
