The Smart article was not posted as a position of support from me as a HC. Only to show that every person is looking for something different. All of our opinions are “arbitrary” as it relates to this search. There is no guarantee with hiring a new HC. The winners that came before this current search did not pan out and RMK went 11-13 in his last year before moving to Bloomington. I personally don’t think we need a former IU player leading the team, but another coach on the bench would certainly be great (Lewis and Smart are at the top of my list). None of us are SD, but we should trust that he is every bit of the fan that we all are and then some. He’s going to make the hire that he feels is best for the program and we all need to support that decision. I think most casual/non NBA fans would be extremely surprised by the success Woodson could have. The guy has so much experience in the league and IU ties. Regardless of what people want to believe, the NBA is the dream for every kid that comes to our school to play. ESPN is the only outlet reporting additional scholarship bans. I will preface this with I have and think that Rojo should return. I believe this for personal reasons as a fan and as a non-traditional college student who would like to see him finish out his degree. He will not be drafted, but if he wants to play in the d-league or overseas, I will not and cannot fault him for that decision. Regarding my comment earlier, it was never stated they were having issues. Conflicting reports from him and his family were released though. Zach Osterman confirmed the report of Rojo's intent to return with Robert Sr. He tweeted it and wrote a story on it. However, this does not make Mr. Johnson's statement factual. Rojo tweeting that he was still in the draft process confirmed that some form of communication breakdown has occurred within his circle (i.e., his family). My comments weren't meant to get anyone worked up, merely speculation based upon what I had read.
