  1. We'll definitely see two quarterbacks in this game. Need a solid performance on both sides of the line. Not going to completely shut down Barkely, just have to prevent the big plays. Hopefully Ball, Riggins, and company are fit to play. Defense will need everyone for this game.

    IU implicated in new story

Have to think this was the last straw for the Spelunking coach. Recruiting has been down, large amount of turnover in the program, off-court incidents, and now throwing a team member under the bus by simply leaving him in a cave. Can't settle for mediocrity in our Spelunking program!
  3. Big time win against a really good team. That will be massive for the RPI come tournament time. Game was open in the second half. Dorsey offers something no one else on the team really does. The ability to run by players and create 1v1. He just didn’t have it tonight. Kept giving it away. Credit to Yeagley for realizing that. Replaced Dorsey with Glass, brought Hycaenth on and pushed Thomas up a bit. The moved paid off inmediately. Thomas held the ball up, pushed it wide to Glass. Glass put in a low ball, a great dummy from Hyacneth pulled the defenders and froze the goalie. Panchot punched it home. After that, IU played compact. Fortunate the goal was ruled off. Rightly, I believe, but still fortunate. The defense is good enough to keep IU in every game this season, just have to continue to find goals.
  4. Aside from five minutes early on, Indiana dominated the first half. Still not a lot of great chances on goal. Warr had the best one late on. Hubbard’s a good keeper but he hasn’t really been tested yet. Indiana is the deeper team and should have fresher legs in the second half. Hope it shows. Side note - BTN really needs to learn to time their replays better. Miss too much action because they want to show something instantly instead of waiting for a proper moment.

    IUMS at Northwestern - 9/17 @ 4:30 E.T.

Agree with Aaron. We typically struggle with teams like NW, who have no real attacking intent. Put men behind the ball and wait for 1-2 counter chances in a half. Still struggling to get a feel for this team. Some days I think they look fantastic, others I'm not so sure. Possibly because of the youth up front. Notre Dame game will likely tell us a lot. On the road at MSU to finish the season....that's tough. This team will have a chance to win every game because of the defense. Just have to stay healthy and capitalize on the chances they get.
  6. Indiana looked a whole lot more like the Indiana we've seen the last few years and not the first five games of this season. After the RB went down, the back-line was completely disjointed. The CB, might have been Mehl, and Muse were both pretty awful on the Michigan goal. Lillard didn't have a great night either. Thought Gutman was the best Indiana player tonight. Got the goal and had some key interceptions that led to a few counters. Yeagley's decision to start Warr was interesting. Maybe he thought Toye would have tired legs or maybe he wanted a more physical presence. Either way, it shows that Hyacenth will be used as a super-sub all season. Maybe there were some tired legs after the OT match against Maryland, but there's no reason to not get a result against a mediocre Michigan team. Especially after being up a goal. Can't draw these types of games and expect to win the Big Ten. Hope we get to see Rennicks on the pitch this season Swartz did have an absolutely dirty finish ruled incorrectly offside in the first half, but not a lot going on after that.
  7. With talk about the Virginia game spilling into the OSU game thread, I figured it was time to just start a new topic. Indiana travels to Virginia for the first road game of the season. Kickoff is early in the day (12:30) and IU has had some trouble with early kickoffs in the past. I'll be watching to see if Indiana's O-line can perform better against a lesser opponent. Lagow had little time to pass against the OSU and the running game could never get started. I expect both to be better this week against a crummy Virginia team. Also interested to see if our D-line is able to create any pressure on Virginia's QB. I expect Indiana to win, but I don't think it will be comfortable. A loss to Virginia sets a bad tone for the rest of the season.

    NBA Thread

Until they introduce measures to prevent tanking, I'm all for taking advantage of the situation. No point in trying to be the 10th best team in your conference. Better to capitalize on the draft. Would be interested to see a measure where they award the best team that missed the playoffs with the number one pick. I know there are some issues to work out (teams trying to miss the playoffs by a game, how to handle East/West, etc) but I think it's a step in the right direction. At least a conversation to have. A lot of people may not like soccer, but promotion/relegation is a great tool. Unfortunately it wouldn't work with the NBA.
  9. Big early season match. Time to see if the wins we racked up against "lesser" competition will stand up. Maryland usually has a fairly large student section, so it should be a nice atmosphere and a big test for the freshmen. Hope I'm able to watch tonight, but not sure I'll be around. Would be nice to win the Big Ten again for the first time in a little while. A result against Maryland would be a step in the right direction.
  10. I can't speak for everyone, but for me personally, it's hard to be completely confident in a road game against a P5 school. I know Virginia is a low-level ACC team who has struggled in recent years, but I am overly-familiar with IU's struggles as well. The Ohio State game went pretty much how I thought it would. IU kept it close for a while and OSU broke away at the end. That's not an indictment on IU by any means. They played Ohio State better than a lot of teams will this year. It's just too early to take any definitive conclusions from the game. Did IU play well because there was no tape of their offense out there? Did IU play well because of the situation surrounding the game? Can IU come out with the same energy against a lesser Virginia squad? There's a lot of questions left to be answered. I predicted IU to win and I still think they will, but not by a large margin. I love Indiana Football. I'd love nothing more then to see them finally breakthrough and have some 7-8 win seasons. I just know that it's a marathon and not a sprint. As far as your question about Chicago, I know Joe on Weed's is supposed to have a fairly large IU contingent. Unfortunately, I'll likely miss at least the first half this week, if not the whole game. I'll follow along on my phone and probably DVR the game to watch back on Sunday. Give 'em hell Hoosiers.
  11. Ahhh, nice catch. For whatever reason Google has decided that I live in California this morning..
  12. Think it might be time for a UVA game thread.
  13. His mother does not want him at UofL fwiw.
  14. Unless he wants to be an engineer of course, and then he would head to Louisville for their Speed School. Has family may value academics, but if all goes according to plan, he will only be on campus for a year.

    Questions about tickets

Ticket selection process for season ticket holders is still taking place. You should see balcony tickets start to show up sometime in the next week or so.

    IUFB Offseason Updates

Indiana Football and guaranteed win don't exactly go together. A lot of questions still to be answered on the offensive side of the ball. I would be ecstatic with 7 wins, but I'm expecting 4-6.

    IUFB Offseason Updates

Win 2 games against a top 10 team?! When was the last time Indiana beat one top ten team? Hell, IUFB win all 4 while you're at it.

You mean the team got worse after the best two years in program history? Who could have seen that coming....
