Hoosiers Ranked No. 8 In Preseason Associated Press Top 25

 Indiana women's basketball will begin the preseason with its highest ranking in school history, coming in at No. 8 in the Associated Press top 25 on Tuesday. 
 
The Hoosiers have now appeared in the AP preseason poll for the last four consecutive seasons, marking its highest-ever ranking overall in the national poll. It leaps its No. 9 ranking, one they earned in Week 16 last season. They elevated three spots from its final ranking of 2020-21, where they finished at No. 12 and have now been ranked for a program-record 38 consecutive weeks.
 
Off the heels of an NCAA Elite Eight appearance last season and its sixth-straight 20-win campaign, the Hoosiers return all five starters for 2021-22. Among those returners includes a pair of All-American honorees in junior forward Mackenzie Holmes (17.8 ppg, 7.6 rpg.) and senior guard Grace Berger (15.4 ppg.) Second team All-Big Ten selection Ali Patberg (14.0 ppg.) also returns for her seventh and final collegiate season along with senior forward Aleksa Gulbe (9.0 ppg., 6.9 rpg.) and senior guard Nicole Cardaño-Hillary (8.5 ppg.).
 
Eighth year head coach Teri Moren holds a 148-80 overall record in her time in Cream and Crimson. She's taken the program to three NCAA appearances and are coming off a second-place finish in the Big Ten last season. 
 
Indiana will host UIndy in exhibition play on Nov. 5 and will open the 2021-22 regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at Butler. Season tickets are now on sale by visiting IUHoosiers.com/tickets, calling 1-866-IUSPORTS or visiting the west lobby ticket windows at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. ET Monday-Friday.

The thought of not succeeding has never entered their minds. It's the same starting five that has been incredibly successful. If they stay relatively healthy, there is almost literally no chance that they will be less than a major success.

Also, Ali Patberg will NOT let them fail.

Indiana To Start Season Ranked No. 7 In USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's basketball will start the 2021-22 season with its highest ever ranking in a national poll as it came in at No. 7 in the USA Today/WBCA coaches poll, announced on Wednesday.
 
They jumped three spots from its final ranking of the 2020-21 season where it finished at No. 10. It's the highest ever ranking in the poll, surpassing the previous record of coming in at No. 9 in Week 16 last season. The Hoosiers have now appeared in the coaches poll for the last 21 weeks and just the third time its appeared in the preseason rankings. In the other national poll, IU came in at No. 8 in the preseason Associated Press top 25.
