(2017) C Luka Garza to Iowa

Recommended Posts

Plays AAU ball on Team Takeover.  His 2016 AAU stats won't jump off the table at you but in the first 2 sessions he was only logging around 18-20 min./game but at the last session he logged 23-25 min./game.  The skeptic that I tend to be makes me wonder if we're fading from contention for the likes of Mo Bamba and Nick Richards.

I think it could be difficult to convince Richards or Bamba to play second fiddle if DD develops throughout the year to a starting spot the following season. I would love to have a top C in 2017 but just a solid one to backup DD or play alongside him for a handful of minutes would do. There are other areas of concern for 2017.

I couldn't agree more. I certainly would not throw rocks at a quality 2017 C, but give me a TRUE PG and a high end wing and I would be smiling come 2017.

Not sure we are really recruiting a TRUE PG for 17. Scruggs is being recruited as a PG and told he can develop there.

Scruggs, Jackson, Wilkes and complementary parts sounds great to me. Really Jackson, Wilkes and complementary parts will do.

Tremont Waters and Matt Coleman would be considered true point guards. Seems like we are definitely up there for Coleman, but Texas maybe the team to beat. Think Waters is realistic as well so long as Duke does not go all in for him

Agree, while PS isn't a true point he would have a year to learn from JN and RoJo then take the team over as a sophomore. I could see Green being a solid backup point too.

I want a dynamic wing scorer in 2017 to hopefully compliment OG, if not to take the reigns with JMor or Jackson at the 4.

If we can land a top notch big in 2017 more power to the staff. If we can't I wouldn't mind landing a solid big and concentrate on other areas.

I suppose. I don't see us pushing hard on either of these guys. Jose Alvarado would be another PG we have pursued at some point.

Hearing he is trying to set up a visit. Sounds like he is legitimately interested.

So now do I expand to

Scruggs, Wilkes, Jackson, Garza???

I would take that 2017 class in a heartbeat. If we only lost Hartman and TB to the NBA 2017-2018 should be another good year. Actually, that roster with just solid development should contend for a B1G title.

Guards - RoJo, JN, JBJ, CuJo, Green, Scruggs

Wings - McSwain, OG, JMor, Wilkes, Jackson

Bigs - DD, Garza

Agree. Take JBJ off and add Durham. I think we lose one more somewhere too.
