• It sounds like third-string quarterback Nate Sudfeld has a good chance of making the Redskins‘ final cut. When asked about the 2016 sixth-round pick, senior vice president of player personnel was effusive in his praise. “Sudfeld’s one of my favorites,” Williams said (via Dan Steinberg of The Washington Post). “You know, he was one of the guys, when we drafted him, when we sat in the room [and] we talked about drafting a quarterback, I was a Sudfeld guy. You know, none of [the prospects] took snaps up under the center; they all stood back in the shotgun. He was at Indiana, but when you watched him and the guys at a couple more schools, there was something about him that you liked. And I think he’s learned how to take the snap from under center; he gets the ball out of his hands.” Sudfeld did not see the field last season.

Nate to the Eagles practice squad. Had the offer to go to Washington's too but decided he had a better chance in Philly.

@RoobNBCS: Sudfeld finished 19-for-23 for 83 percent. That’s the most accurate game in NFL history by a quarterback in his first career game [20 or more attempts]. The previous record was 80 percent by Sam Wyche of the Bengals against the Oilers in 1968 [20-for-25, 80 percent].

Nate Sudfeld’s 22-yard run was the longest by an Eagle playing in his first career game since Charlie Garner had a 28-yard run against the 49ers on Oct. 2, 1994, at Candlestick Park.

Even with those passing stats, the Eagles had jjyst 12 first downs and were 2-11 on 3rd down. So many short passes.

Nate got the start for the Eagles tonight in their preseason opener against the Steelers. 10/14 for 140 yards with two TDs and two INTs.

Backup QB Nick Foles down with a shoulder strain. Carson Wentz questionable for week 1. This is all paving the way for Sud to possibly start week 1.

Nate took the majority of snaps tonight, going 22/39 with 3 TDs and a pick. His receivers and o-line haven't necessarily done him any favors tonight either.

With Foles leaving after this year Nate is looking like he’ll be #2 in Phily.

The eagles are in Salary Cap hell last I checked and letting Foles go is one of the only ways to help them get back above water.

The Eagles are letting Nick Foles become a free agent, which would presumably leave Sudfeld as QB2 entering camp this year.
