What a bizarre comparison to make. What is it supposed to mean? I suppose it shows Bo did a lot with less (and did he ever) but like, Duke also won 2 national championships in those 14 years and won one the year previous (whose burger boys may have been counted). So, in the end it says "Well, even if you have a coach who can create great players out of lower-ranked recruits, you gotta have them burger boys if you want to hang a banner".

I pay the proper homage to the record of Bo Ryan. His record of past success speaks for itself.

Nonetheless, I predicted last summer that he needed to get out sooner rather than later before he became part of the mediocrity that would begin in Cheeseheadland this year. Not surprised that he did it. College basketball always begs the question, "What have you done for me lately?" Ryan, of course, is legendary at Wisky and could have stayed as long as he wanted. It appears he wanted no more of this team.

So when does his ESPN contract start?

Exactly my thought as well, I guess they're just trying to make a comparison just for comparison's sake.

I'll ask for all of your collective forgiveness in advance for invoking PUke, but in many respects, Bo always reminded me of Gene Keady.  For most of his years Keady rarely signed the big names but for the most part year in and year out he put competitive teams on the court.  They may not have hung any banners in the pig sty, but for the most part were always competitive.  Gene got a few 'stars', but that's not how he built his program and neither did Bo.  I think Bo and Gene both were exceptionally good at recruiting players that fit their style, were fundamentally sound and were willing to play hardnosed team basketball.

I think RMK was the same way. Yes he had higher recruits, but the players bought into his system.
