Williams Tabbed For Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week

The Big Ten Conference announced their weekly track & field honors on Wednesday and Indiana Track & Field's own Cooper Williams was named the Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week. This is the first weekly honor of season for the Hoosiers.
 
This past weekend Williams competed in the 800m and was the second leg of the men's 4x400m relay squad. He crossed the finish line first in the 800m with a time of 1:48.09. The time was good for the fastest time in the Big Ten and the third fastest in the NCAA so far this season. With the 4x400m relay, he aided the team to first place with a time of 3:16.63.
 
Up next, Indiana will see a spilt a weekend as the cross country season commences at the Big Ten Cross Country Championships. The championships are set for Jan. 30 in Shelbyville, Ind. with the women's race at 12:30 p.m. and the men's at 2 p.m. Another group of student-athletes will travel to Champaign, Ill. on Jan. 29 and 30 for a multi event hosted by Illinois.

There was a little rise just before the finish line and it almost looked to me like she stumbled just a bit and that's where she lost the lead.  Don't know that the outcome would have been any different as the Gopher definitely looked to be the stronger of the two.

Hoosiers Hills Invitational Up Next for IUTF

 

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.  –Indiana Track & Field returns to Gladstein Fieldhouse on Saturday Feb. 6 for the Hoosier Hills Invitational. The women will kick off the meet at 11 a.m. with the 60m hurdles followed by the men's portion at 3 p.m.

Women's track schedule of events – 60m hurdle prelims, 60m prelims, 60m hurdle finals, 60m finals, 800m, 600m, 200m, and 4x400m relay.
 
Women field schedule of events – weight throw, shot put, long jump, triple jump, and pole vault.
 
Men's track schedule of events – 60m hurdle prelims, 60m prelims, 60m hurdle finals, 60m finals, 400m, 800m, 600m, 3000m, and 4x400m relay.

Last Time Out: Gladstein Invite
The Hoosiers returned to the Gladstein Fieldhouse this past weekend for the Gladstein Invite. On home turf, Indiana has 14 win their respective events on Saturday afternoon. Mahogany Jenkins and JaiQuan Earls earned their first victories in the cream & crimson. Jenkins soared a distance of 12.03m (39' 5.75") in the triple jump while Earls jumped a mark of 13.85m (45' 5.25") to complete the Indiana sweep in the event.
 
Ranked
Week two ranking were released by the USTFCCCA and the Indiana men were ranked No. 24 while the women remain unranked.
 
In the regional rankings, both squads checked in at No. 3 in the Great Lakes Region.
 
NCAA Marks
Through two weekends of competition, 10 Hoosiers have top-25 marks in the NCAA.

Nine Capture Victories at Hoosier Hills Invitational

 Another outing is in the books for Indiana Track & Field as they wrapped up hosting the Hoosier Hills Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Six men and three women won their respective events to lead the way for the Hoosiers on week four of competition.
 
Kelly Mindak won the 600m in a personal record time of 1:32.84. Alyssa Robinson picked up the pace in the 200m as she took gold and secured a time of 23.96.
 
Turning to the field, Anna Watson won her third straight pole vault event after clearing a height of 4.01m (13' 1.75"). Princess Brinkley threw her season best mark of 20.98m (65' 10.5") in the weight throw to garner first place honors.
 
Rikkoi Brathwaite improved on his personal best of 6.64 by clocking a 6.63 to win the 60m. Christian Goines won the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.10.
 
Running a different event that was not the 800m, Cooper Williams finished the mile in a time of 4:03.86 to clock a personal best and get the victory.
 
Shaton Vaughn had an outstanding day as he cruised to victory in the 400m with a time of 47.79. He also placed second behind teammate Goines in the 60m hurdles. He had a time of 8.14.
 
Nick Lane competed in his first weight throw event of the season as he heaved it a distance of 20.32m (66' 8") to place first.
 
The final Hoosier to win their event was Jyles Etienne who returned to his winning ways on Saturday in the high jump. He cleared a season best height of 2.08m (6' 9.75").
 
De'Aira Robertson earned a spot in the 60m hurdle finals after clocking a time of 8.72. Morgan Snow advanced to the final of the 60m and in that final she picked up a new personal record of 7.63 to place fifth. Snow has made the final at the last three meets. Snow returned in the 200m where she secured fifth with a time of 24.98. Robertson also competed and raced to ninth in a time of 26.49.
 
Bouncing back from the Big Ten Cross Country Championships, Abi Little led the Hoosiers in the mile with a fifth place finish and a time of 5:00.30. Alyssa Skorge clocked a time of 5:02.82 to place seventh while Mariah Wehrle came in 10th and had a time of 5:03.62. Grace Williams picked up 12th in a time of 5:18.07.
 
Making a return to the oval in Gladstein Fieldhouse, Hannah Stoffel raced to third place and captured a time of 2:08.50. Jenna Barker came in fifth with a time of 2:10.25 while Mikaela Ramirez rounded out the trio of Hoosiers by placing seventh in a time of 2:12.46.
 
Maddie Russin made her Indiana debut in the 600m where she nabbed a time of 1:38.70 to place seventh.
 
In the field, Mahogany Jenkins competed in the long jump and the triple jump. In the triple jump, she secured the silver medal after leaping a mark of 12.14m (39' 10"). In the long jump Jenkins placed sixth with a distance of 5.55m (18' 2.5"). Paola Fernandez-Sola made her Indiana debut where she placed eighth in the long jump with a mark of 5.47m (17' 11.5"). Also competing in the long jump, Shanna Esters and Shaunyae Sowell placed 11th and 12th, respectively. Esters had a mark of 5.17m (16' 11.5") while Sowell hit a distance of 4.97m (16' 3.75"). Esters also competed in the triple jump where she placed with a mark of 11.14m (36' 6.75").
 
Maddy Pollard made her season debut in the shot put as she nabbed second with a distance of 17.22m (56' 6"). Her mark stands at No. 4 in the NCAA so far this season.
 
Kara Deady competed in the pole vault where she picked up fourth after clearing a height of 3.76m (12' 4"). Gabby Hoke finished in the seventh and cleared a height of 3.61m (11' 10").
 
Zubin Muncherji picked up fourth in the 400m after clocking a time of 48.68. Aaron Bennett and Micah Camble competed in the 600m where Bennett secured a personal record of 1:28.67 to place third while Camble finished in fifth with a time of 1:20.87.
 
Teddy Browning was the lone Hoosier in the 800m as he came from behind to garner silver in a time of 1:51.61.
 
Dustin Horter and Nick Couyoumjian finished two three in the mile. Horter picked up a time of 4:09.30 while Couyoumjian crossed in a time of 4:09.46. Ethan Meyer nabbed a time of 4:14.93 to garner fifth while Gabriel Sanchez ran his first race as a Hoosier. Sanchez finished in a time of 4:20.95.
 
In the 3000m, Colin Murphy secured fourth in a time of 9:38.99 while Paul Ruston came in seventh with a time of 8:58.31.
 
Rounding out Indiana's time on the track, Vaughn, Williams, Brathwaite, and Camble combined for a time of 3:13.85 in the 4x400m relay to place second.
 
Turning to the field, Nathan Stone was the highlight as he cleared a new personal best height of 5.42m (17' 9.25") to get the silver medal. Brock Mammoser made it first appearance of the season in the shot put where he placed fourth after clearing a height of 5.02m (16' 5.5"). 

Grayson Rolen picked up second in the high jump with a personal best height of 2.04m (6' 8.25"). 
 
JaiQuan Earls competed in the triple jump where he saw a mark of 13.86m (45' 5.75") to finish in the third. He also competed in the long jump where he had a mark of 6.85m (22' 5.75") and placed fifth. Also competing in the long jump Kynton Grays hit a distance of 6.89m (22' 7.25) to notch the bronze medal. Dominic Day picked up a sixth place finish and a mark of 6.81m (22' 4.25").
 
Nolan Landis continued competition in the shot put where he placed fourth and secured a distance of 16.49m (54'1.25").
 
Competing unattached, two Hoosiers entered the top-10 in the world so far this year in their respective events. Khayla Dawson set a new personal record, meet record, and facility record in the shot after she launched a mark of 18.21m (59' 9"). Dawson's mark is No. 7 in the world currently. On the track, Kelsey Harris set a new personal record and the No. 9 fastest time in the world in the 800m by crossing the finish line in a time of 2:02.88.
 
Up next, the Hoosiers will embark on journeys to Iowa and the SPIRE institute on Feb. 12 and Feb. 13. The pole vault and jumps group will compete at the Hawkeye B1G Invitational while the remaining Hoosiers will take a trip to Geneva, Ohio for the B1G SPIRE Invitational.

Three Hoosiers Lock Down Big Ten Athlete of the Week

The Big Ten Conference announced their weekly track & field honors on Wednesday and Indiana Track & Field had three Hoosiers secure athlete of the week honors, Rikkoi Brathwaite, Maddy Pollard, and Nathan Stone. This is the second week of the season Indiana has seen someone on the list.  

Brathwaite was named Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week while Pollard was tabbed for Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week. Stone rounded out the trio and was named Big Ten Co-Field Athlete of the Week.
 
This past weekend Pollard competed in her first shot put competition. Pollard launched for a distance of 17.22m (56' 6") to come in second behind teammate Khayla Dawson who was competing unattached. Her mark is the second best of the season in the Big Ten and ranks No. 4 in the NCAA so far this season.
 
Brathwaite added on to his personal best at Hoosier Hills where he clocked a time of 6.63 in the 60m. He won the event and now has the fastest time in the Big Ten and is tied for fourth nationally so far this season.
 
Stone also set a new personal record in the pole vault after clearing a height of 5.42m (17' 9.25"). He finished in second this past weekend behind teammate Adam Coulon who competed in the event unattached. Stone's mark sits atop the Big Ten and No. 6 in the NCAA through three weeks of competition.
 
Up next, the Hoosiers will have a split weekend on Feb. 12 and Feb. 13. The jumpers and pole vaulters will head to Iowa for the Hawkeye B1G Invitational while the rest of the squad will travel to Geneva, Ohio for the B1G SPIRE Invitational inside the SPIRE Institute which is the location for the 2021 Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Seven Personal Records Fall on Day One of B1G SPIRE Invitational

GENEVA, Ohio – Indiana Track & Field wrapped up its first day at the B1G SPIRE Invitational on Friday afternoon. A group of seven Hoosiers set new personal records while both distance medley squads had strong first outings.
 
Maria Anderson, Shynae Deas and Maddie Russin kicked off the meet for the Hoosiers and all had personal bests in the 600m. Anderson clocked a time of 1:31.74 to win her first event of the season. Deas crossed the finish line in a time of 1:32.04 to pick up second. Russin rounded out the trio with an 11th place finish and a time of 1:36.71. On the men's side Micah Camble chipped another .45 off his personal record. Camble finished in a time of 1:20.05 and placed ninth overall.
 
Morgan Snow and De'Aira Robertson raced to personal bests in the 200m after clocking a time of 24.88 and 26.26, respectively. Snow placed seventh while Robertson nabbed 16th.  
 
Skylar Stidam and Ben Miller both set personal records in the 5000m. Stidam secured a time of 14:24.05 to place 10th while Miller saw a time of 14:41.20 and a 15th place finish.
 
Hannah Stoffel, Alyssa Robinson, Jenna Barker, and Bailey Hertenstein combined to run a time of 11:15.76 in the distance medley relay and placed second. Their time is the fourth fastest speed in the nation so far this season. Teddy Browning, Shaton Vaughn, Cooper Williams, and Matthew Schadler collectively ran the fourth fastest race in the NCAA so this season. They clocked a time of 9:35.25 to place first.
 
Nick Lane won the weight throw for the second straight week. He saw a season best heave of 20.37m (66' 10").
 
Parker Raymond competed in his first event as a Hoosier Friday morning. In the 600m he picked up a seventh place finish and a time of 1:19.34.
 
Also competing in the women's 200m, Robinson took bronze in a time of 24.18. On the men's side of the event Rikkoi finished in eighth with a time of 21.69.
 
Sarah Schmitt led the Hoosiers in the 5000m with a sixth place finish and a time of 16:38.02. Ana Barrott finished in the top-10 and clocked a time of 17:12.69. Mariah Wehrle nabbed 12th in a time of 17:25.74 while Gracie Sprankle finished in 14th with a time of 17:32.23 to complete the Indiana field.
 
In the men's 5000m Ben Veatch led it for the Hoosiers by finishing in second with a time of 13:57.98. His time is the third fastest time in the NCAA so far this season. Austin Haskett crossed the finish line 11th and in a time of 14:30.97.  
 
In the field, Princess Brinkley competed in the weight throw where she notched the silver medal with a heave of 19.23m (63' 1.25").
 
Indiana return will complete the B1G SPIRE Invitational tomorrow Feb. 13. The event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. ET. The first event on the track for the Hoosiers is the women's 60m hurdle prelims while the women's shot put at 1:20 p.m. is the only field event for Indiana.

 Indiana Track & Field competed on the final day of the B1G SPIRE Invitational at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
 
Rikkoi Brathwaite had the fastest prelim time of 6.72 in the 60m. Returning for finals, Brathwaite garnered a time of 6.66 for the victory. He has competed in four finals of the 60m and has won all four of them. On the women's side, Alyssa Robinson captured a time of 7.55 to move on the finals of the 60m. While in the final, she knocked .2 off of her prelim time to come in fifth.
 
De'Aira Robertson ran the 60m hurdle prelims where she advanced to the final with a time of 8.61. In the final, Robertson went a time of 8.60 to garner fourth place. William Session returned to the oval for the first time in nearly two seasons. Session competed in the 60m hurdle prelims where he had a time of 8.13 which was the fastest in his heat.
 
Shaton Vaughn ran the 400m where he took seventh in a time 48.22. Zubin Muncherji returned to the track in the 400m as well. He nabbed 10th place with a time of 48.36.
 
Kelly Mindak had her season best 800m after clocking a time of 2:08.18 to place second overall. Maria Anderson took a time of 2:08.32 and received the bronze medal. Shynae Deas finished in 11th after clocking a time of 2:13.20. Maddie Russin rounded out the field by placing 17th with a time of 2:16.58.
 
Matthew Schadler highlighted the men's mile by running a sub-four mile. Schadler picked up a time of 3:59.88. Dustin Horter placed seventh and nabbed a time of 4:11.91. Teddy Browning crossed in a time of 4:13.91 to place ninth. On the women's side, Jenna Barker and Hannah Stoffel placed sixth and seventh, respectively. Barker notched a time of 4:44.57 while Stoffel saw a time of 4:44.70.
 
Bailey Hertenstein raced to victory in the 3000m with a personal record time of 9:19.86. Abi Little crossed ninth in a personal best time of 9:42.45. Also setting a personal record, Mikaela Ramirez nabbed a time of 9:43.79 and a 10th place finish while Alyssa Skorge came in 11th with a time of 9:44.68. Maddie Dalton rounded out the field Hoosiers with a personal best time of 9:46.17 and a 13th place finish. In the men's Arjun Jha led the way for the Hoosiers by placing ninth in a time of 8:19.11. Jake Gebhardt finished in the top-10 with a time of 8:24.41. Gabriel Sanchez clocked a time of 8:24.88 and finished in 12th.
 
Snow, Robinson, Natalie Price, and Dead combined for second place and a time of 3:45.05 in the 4x400m relay. In the final event on the oval, Vaughn, Williams, Micah Camble, Muncherji went a time of 3:11.28 for the bronze medal in the 4x400m relay.
 
In the lone field event for Indiana at the B1G SPIRE Invitational, Maddy Pollard picked up a silver medal in the shot put after heaving it a distance of 16.64m (54' 6.5").
 
The Hoosiers will return to Gladstein Fieldhouse on Saturday Feb. 20 as they will host Purdue for a dual meet. The action is slated to begin at 12 p.m. ET.

Last Time Out: B1G SPIRE Invitational
It was a weekend full of personal records for the Hoosiers at the B1G SPIRE Invitational this past weekend. 12 set personal bests at the two-day meet. All three runners in the 600m set a personal record, Maria Anderson (1:31.74), Shynae Deas (1:32.04), and Maddie Russin (1:36.71). Anderson's time also aided her to the victory in the event. Morgan Snow garnered a personal best in the 200m with a time of 24.88. Bailey Hertenstein (9:19.86), Abi Little (9:42.45), Mikaela Ramirez (9:43.79), and Maddie Dalton (9:46.17) raced to their personal records in the 3000m. Hertenstein was the event winner.  On the men's side, Micah Camble set another personal record in the 600m after capturing a time of 1:20.05. Nick Couyoumjian ran the 800m where he clocked a time of 1:51.86 to earn a new personal record. Two had personal best in the 5000m, Skylar Stidam (14:24.05) and Ben Miller (14:41.20).
 
Last Time Out: Hawkeye B1G Invitational
The jumpers and pole vaulters headed to Iowa this past weekend for the Hawkeye B1G Invitational. Nathan Stone and Brock Mammoser took gold and bronze, respectively, in the pole vault. Stone cleared a height of 5.40m (17' 8.5") while Mammoser saw a season best of 5.30m (17' 4.5"). Dom Day set a personal record in the long jump with a mark of 7.25m (23' 9.5").


RANKED
The men's squad moved up another spot to No. 20 in the USTFCCCA National Rankings while the women remain unranked.
 
The women hold the top spot in the Great Lakes Region while the men's team sits No. 2 behind Michigan.
 
NCAA Marks
Through four weekends of competition, 9 Hoosiers and two relays have top-25 marks in the NCAA.

 With the regular season coming to a close, Indiana Track & Field wrapped up with the Big Ten Open inside Gladstein Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.
 
Alyssa Robinson matched her personal record in the 60m with a time of 7.49. She would go on to win the event. Morgan Snow also competed in the 60m where she placed fourth in a time of 7.77.
 
Ben Hibbert crossed the finish line in the 60m hurdles first and clocked a time of 8.13.
 
Maria Anderson and Shaton Vaughn helped Indiana sweep the 400m. Anderson struck a time of 55.90 while Vaughn crossed in a time of 48.47. Micah Camble (48.94) and Zubin Muncherji (49.18) also ran the 400m as they placed second and third, respectively.
 
Cooper Williams raced to first in the 600m with a personal record time of 1:16.80. Parker Raymond also competed where he nabbed second in a time of 1:18.93.
 
The Hoosiers went 1-2-3 in the men's 800m. Teddy Browning led the way with a time of 1:51.11 while Aaron Bennett clocked a time of 1:52.39 to place second. Dustin Horter rounded out the field with a time of 1:52.83 and a third place finish. On the women's side, Hannah Stoffel notched the victory in a time of 2:07.49. Shynae Deas came in fourth and saw a personal best time of 2:11.19. Maddie Russin crossed in a time of 2:13.23 to place 5th while Marissa Rivera picked up sixth and a time of 2:15.42.
 
Arjun Jha was the first Hoosier across the finish line in the mile as he picked up a time of 4:07.23. Gabriel Sanchez was next across in second with a personal record time of 4:10.77. Paul Rushton secured third and time 4:16.08 before Ethan Meyer completed the field in fourth with a time of 4:19.31. Maddie Dalton crushed her previous personal record in the mile after clocking a time of 4:50.38 and placing first overall. Kelly Mindak took home silver with a time of 4:52.06 while Mikaela Ramirez set a PR time of 4:57.28. Abi Little also set a personal record after nabbing a time of 4:57.60. Alyssa Skorge and Grace Williams saw personal bests and placed sixth and seventh, respectively. Mariah Wehrle rounded it out with an eighth place finish and a time of 5:09.67.
 
Jake Gebhardt and Colin Murphy in the 3000m were the next Hoosiers to set personal bests. Gebhardt picked up second in a time of 8:08.50 while Murphy locked down a time of 8:33.61 to place fifth. Ben Miller was also in the mix, crossing fourth and securing a time of 8:26.78.
 
In the field, Nathan Stone and Anna Watson took top honors in the pole vault. Stone cleared a height of 5.37m (17' 7.25") while Watson saw a height of 4.05m (13' 3.5"). On the men's side Brock Mammoser picked up silver and a mark of 5.27m (17' 3.5"). Tyler Sierks (4.62m) and Sam Wood (4.47m) completed the field with a third and fourth place finish, respectively. Kara Deady had a clearance of 3.75m (12' 3.5") and finished in second while freshman Gabby Hoke cleared a height of 3.45m (11' 3.75") to placed third.
 
Shaunyae Sowell picked up silver in the long jump with a mark of 5.39 (17' 8.25') while Nichole Flowers finished in third after hitting a mark of 5.37m (17' 7.5"). Dom Day led the men with a mark 7.18m (23' 4.75") and a second place finish. JaiQuan Earls took home the bronze medal and a distance of 7.12m (23' 4.5"). Kynton Grays picked up a mark of 6.99m (21' 7.25") to place fourth.
 
Mahogany Jenkins took home two personal bests, the first in the triple jump then later on in high jump. She saw a mark of 12.19m (40' 0") in the triple jump and cleared a height of 1.68m (5' 6") in the high jump. Earls was the long competitor on the men's side, launching a mark of 14.09m (46' 2.75").
 
Over in throws, Nick Lane saw a season best in the weight throw after heaving a mark of 20.84m (28' 4.5"). Princess Brinkley was the sole thrower in the weight throw as she saw a distance of 20.81m (68' 3.25").
 
Maddy Pollard launched for a mark of 17.16 (56' 3.75") in the shot put to place second.
 
Up next, the Hoosiers will embark on their postseason journey with the Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships. The championships kick off on Thursday Feb. 25 in Geneva, Ohio at the SPIRE Institute and will conclude on Saturday Feb. 27.

DAY 1 BIG CHAMPIONSHIPS 

As day one of the Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships comes to a close, Indiana Track & Field sits in second place with 16 points on the men's side and the women are in fourth place with 17 points. Ben Veatch was the lone Hoosier to pick up an individual Big Ten title on Thursday.

Without a threat in the closing 200 meters of the 3000m final, Veatch garnered his second championship in the event in three years, the previous one coming in 2019. The Carmel, Ind. Native crossed in a time of 8:04.05.
 
Cooper Williams and Parker Raymond advanced to the final of 600m. Williams had the fastest time of the afternoon, clocking a personal best time of 1:16.68. Raymond had the fifth best time and a personal record of 1:17.63 for his first 600m race at Big Ten Championships.
 
In the field, Nick Lane picked up fifth and four points for Indiana in the weight throw after heaving a distance of 20.22m (66' 4.25").
 
Closing out the day for the Hoosier men, the distance medley relay squad comprised of Teddy Browning, Shaton Vaughn, Williams, and Matthew Schadler took home the bronze medal in a time of 9:37.58. They tacked on six points to the team score.
 
On the women's side, two Hoosiers advanced Saturday's final in their respective events. Shynae Deas moved on to the finals of the 600m for the first time in her young career. She clocked a time of 1:31.68 to claim the final spot in the final. Alyssa Robinson had the fourth best time of in the 200m with a personal best time of 23.94.
 
Bailey Hertenstein and Sarah Schmitt both scored for Indiana in the 3000m. Hertenstein crossed sixth in a time of 9:24.76 while Schmitt picked a time of 9:25.17 and finished in eighth. Combined, they tallied four points to women's total.
 
Hannah Stoffel, Robinson, Kelly Mindak, and Jenna Barker combined for a time of 11:19.09 and six points for Hoosiers as they placed third overall in the distance medley relay.
 
In the field, Princess Brinkley picked up four points led the women with a mark of 20.10m (65' 11.5") in the weight throw to place fifth. Paola Fernandez-Sola competed in her first career event at Big Ten Championships. She competed in the long jump and soared to a distance of 5.88m (19' 3.5") to secure sixth. Her sixth place finish added three points to women's score.
 
Indiana will return to action tomorrow, Feb. 26 for day two of the Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships. Action for the men is slated to start at 11:35 a.m. with the mile prelims and triple jump while the women will start at 3:30 p.m. with Hope Purcell in the pentathlon.

10 Hoosiers Advance to Saturday’s Final At B1G Indoor Championship

 Indiana Track & Field completed day two of the Big Ten Track & Field Championships on Friday night as 10 advanced to Saturday finals. The women remain in fourth with 24 point and the Hoosier men are in sixth in 20 points headed into the final day.
 
Matthew Schadler and Arjun Jha were the first Hoosiers to advance to a final on Friday afternoon. Schadler clocked a time of 4:22.58 to win his heat while Jha picked up a time of 4:02.64.
 
Rikkoi Brathwaite is taking a trip to a final for the third year in a row after clocking the second fastest time in the 60m with a time of 6.68.
 
Shaton Vaughn is moving on to the final of the 400m for the second straight season as he crossed in a time of 47.49.
 
Teddy Browning laid it all on the line in the 800m prelims where he was able to pass the field in the final 100 meters to nab a personal best time of 1:49.31 and the fastest time heading into Saturday's final. Nick Couyoumjian is in the final in his first career event after securing a time of 1:51.77.
 
On the women's side, Bailey Hertenstein led the Hoosiers in the mile. The junior moved on to the final with a time of 4:49.74. Jenna Barker advanced to the first final of her career in the mile after crossing in a time of 4:47.66.
 
For second straight year Alyssa Robinson moved on to the final of 60m with a personal best matching time of 7.49.
 
Kelly Mindak saw a season best time of 2:07.59 and she was the lone Hoosiers to advance to the final in the 800m.
 
Hope Purcell picked up 3,654 points in the pentathlon to place fourth overall. That ties her best finish in the event at the championships. Purcell's finish added five points to the Hoosiers team total.
 
The Hoosiers will wrap their stint at the 2021 Big Ten Indoor Championships on Saturday Feb. 27. The men's final day is scheduled to get underway at 11 a.m. and the first women's final is set for 4 p.m.

Three Crowned Individual Champions on Final Day of B1G Indoor Championships

 As the sun sets on the final day of the 2021 Big Ten Track & Field Championships, Indiana Track & field had three win individual Big Ten Championships.
 
Tying the all-time Big Ten record in the 60m, Rikkoi Brathwaite on the event in a time of 6.55. That is the fastest time in the nation so far this season and marks a new personal record.
 
Running the 600m, Cooper Williams took home gold with a time of 1:17.38.
 
Ben Veatch pulled off the double with his victory in the 5000m. After winning the 3000m on Thursday, Veatch made a final push rounding the 200m mark to garner a time of 13:42.88 and the win.
 
The Hoosiers won the men's pole vault for the fourth-straight year, indoor and outdoor Big Ten Championships, after Nathan Stone cleared a height of 5.35m (17' 6.5") to get the gold medal. Brock Mammoser placed fifth for Indiana as he cleared a mark of 5.15m (16' 10.75").
 
Shaton Vaughn raced to fifth in the 400m and clocked a time of 47.40. Also, placing fifth in their event on the oval was Arjun Jha who picked up a time of 4:06.46. Matthew Schadler finished directly behind Jha in sixth with a time of 4:06.67.
 
The 800m final saw two Hoosiers who placed seventh and eighth. Teddy Browning took seventh in a time of 1:51.64 while Nick Couyoumjian came in eighth and had a time of 1:51.67.
 
Rounding the competition on the track, the men's 4x400 meter relay squad consisting of Micah Camble, Williams, Zubin Muncherji, and Vaughn clocked a time of 3:10.98 to place third.
 
In the lone field event for the men, Jyles Etienne cleared a height of 2.08m (6' 10.75") and finished in fifth overall.
 
Turning to the women's competition, Bailey Hertenstein threw down a time of 4:43.49 in the mile and took home the silver medal. Jenna Barker also ran the mile final where she placed eighth in a time of 4:46.45.
 
Maddy Pollard had the second-best finish for the Hoosiers as she garnered the bronze medal in the shot put with a mark of 16.83m (55' 2.75").
 
The Hoosier women saw a trio of seventh place finishes on Saturday night. Shynae Deas ran her first career final in the 600m and grabbed a time of 1:32.29. Anna Watson cleared a height of 4.05m (13' 3.5") to place seventh. The 4x400 meter relay team comprised of Maria Anderson, Morgan Snow, Maddie Russin, and Deas had a time of 3:45.14.
 
Sarah Schmitt raced her first 5000m final where she saw a time of 16:37.62 and an eighth-place finish.
 
Next, Indiana hopes to see competition at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. The championships are set for Mar. 12 and Mar. 13 in Fayetteville, Ark.

Five Individuals and One Relay Earn Entries to NCAA Indoor National Championships

 Five individuals and one relay from Indiana Track & Field were awarded entries to the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships on Wednesday afternoon. Rikkoi Brathwaite, Maddy Pollard, Nathan Stone, Ben Veatch, Cooper Williams and the men's distance medley relay squad will compete at this season's national championships.
 
The NCAA National Championships will commence in Fayetteville, Ark. on Mar. 11 through the Mar. 13.
 
Brathwaite enters the championships with the second-best time in the 60m. He is the 2021 Big Ten Champion in the event after clocking a time of 6.55. That time was also good for No. 9 in the world so far this year and tied the all-time Big Ten record in the 60m.
 
Competing at her second career indoor championships, Pollard is seeded eighth with a season best mark of 17.22m (56' 6) in the shot put. She picked up the bronze medal at Big Ten Championships this past weekend and had a distance of 16.83m (55' 2.75") .
 
2021 Big Ten Champion Stone will make his first NCAA appearance in the pole vault next weekend. Stone cleared a personal best height of 5.42m (17' 9.25") at the Gladstein Invitational on Feb.6 and is seeded 15th in the event.
 
After pulling off the distance double at Big Ten Indoor Championships Ben Veatch is the No. 11 seed for the 5000m. His championship winning time of 13:42.08 earned him the bid to the championships.
 
Williams is the final individual who will contend for a national title next weekend. Williams will be competing in the 800m where he seeded eighth. The West Lafayette, Ind. native ran the 600m at the conference championship where he clocked a time of 1:17.37. His prelim time of 1:16.58 was the No. 3 time in the world this year.   
 
The men's distance medley relay squad comprised of Teddy Browning, Shaton Vaughn, Williams, and Matthew Schadler will be the lone Indiana relay competing. They head into the championships as the No. 11 seed with a time of 9:35.25.

Helmer Earns Sixth Regional Coach of the Year Honor.

Indiana Track & Field Head Coach Ron Helmer was awarded the 2021 Men's Head Coach of the Year accolade for the Great Lakes Region. This is the sixth time Helmer has garnered this honor at the helm of the program.
 
On Mar. 3 the NCAA announced the field for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships that will take place in Fayetteville, Ark. Helmer and the Hoosiers saw four men and one relay qualify for the championships. Rikkoi Brathwaite (60m), Nathan Stone (Pole Vault), Ben Veatch (3000m), Cooper Williams (800m), and the men's distance medley relay all earned bids for Indiana.
 
The men's squad were runners-up at the 2021 Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships which included five gold medals. Brathwaite clocked a personal best time of 6.55 which was a meet record, tied the Big Ten all-time record, and was the second best time in the NCAA and ninth best in the world so far this year. Stone continued the winning streak for the Hoosiers in the pole vault. This was his first Big Ten title in his career. Williams ran the 600m and was victorious for the first time in the event. His prelim time of 1:16.58 was the No. 6 time in the world. Veatch pulled off the distance double with victories in the 3000m and 5000m.
 
The Hoosiers will end the indoor season by competing at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships Mar. 11 through Mar. 13. The championships will be hosted by Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark.
