(2016) SF Mario Kegler to Miss State

Recommended Posts

Agree with all you said here, but one thing I'd like to add is that Howland is coaching there now. He can preach tourney success, development of players, and getting talent to the NBA. I realize it was at UCLA, but that has to appeal to kids to play for a coach like that, especially when it's your home state school that you can help bring to the top. I can see the appeal for Kegler with MSU, even though I believe IU is the best place for him

Exactly what I'm afraid of.

Indian as in from India? or native?

Don't be politically incorrect Alaska.

Definitely agree with that addition. I lump the coach in with the other stuff we can't change, either the player likes the coach or they don't. But, it is another area where we have a lot of similarities with Maryland. Both of us have coaches lacking in deep fan support who recently had very hot seats. And that's in total contrast to joining a team with a coach who will be in his second year.

Which means that it's really a final two, not a final three.

Yup. If, at this point, you have 2 clear front runners, dont muddy the waters and waste anyone's time. Says a lot about his IU visit. We have an uphill battle with MISS St. but it looks as though we've surpassed the other horses thought to be running strong in this race. I asked Jerry Meyer what he thought of a De'Ron Davis and Thomas Bryant frontcourt and he said that it would be "one physical, punishing interior duo." Add Kegler and Brown to that lineup and we are likely to be a top 10 defense that has the ability to score. I'm completely fine with Rob Johnson running the point position for a year or two. He can handle the job and make smart decisions.
