Magnanimous

Indiana won't be Indiana until it wants to be Indiana

You mean when Dakich was repeatedly saying Crean is doing, and I quote, "a masterful job this season."

Not defending him, but Dakich was only attacking Crean's subs and rightfully so.

Dakich is against Crean. He gets the complaints from Peegs and drops them on air every time he does IU. He knows what he's doing; it all started with the leak to Goodman.

Thank you, we are all dumber for having read that.

What have I said that's false? He *has* achieved far more than any other coach we've had in this period

Only one he has achieved more than is Kelvin who was only here for 1 full year. Last I checked Davis went to a National Championship game and Crean has only been to a Sweet 16.

He didn't develop that team, nor did he do anything else of note in his career here. If our fans really think it's Davis that has done more for the program, then wow. Why not just take a shit on Crean's doorstep? He left a Final Four team to come win 6 games. And you guys wanna talk about his ego?

I'm talking about the modern era; when college basketball changed into the AAU monster. When the game passed Knight by. In the last 20 years, Crean is by far the most successful Indiana coach. That's the only point I'm trying to make. Not trying to debate it, it's obvious.

Tommy is that you?

The second SW16 wasn't even an accomplishment. We beat James Madison and squeked by Temple...

The one thing I have always wondered though is how far the 11-12 team would have gone if we didn't play Kentucky that early in the tournament. We would've most likely lost to them regardless of when we faced them, with the only difference between us and Louisville that year being we had to face Kentucky earlier.

I don't have to be an insider to see these things play out during the 40 minutes that count. My eyes are all I need to see the things I mentioned.

Also, hulls was a star. One of the best shooters in the country during his time at IU. . Along with Watford as well. Then add in Yogi, and 2 of the top 4 picks, in Oladipo and Zeller. We had one of the best IU teams I have seen at IU and certainly the best starting five in all of college basketball that year and we couldn't even get past the sweet 16.

Agree.

In my opinion I felt like Jordan Hulls was the true coach/leader/alpha on that 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 team and Tom was riding passenger. I'd love to see hulls come back as an assistant in the future!

My god this is embarrassing. How can anyone take this seriously? Crean is not THAT bad. Come on. This is such crap.

I would hope he is ultimately dissapointed in it. If u r number one in the country for most of the year a sweet sixteen is a fail. It is what it is

Well sure it's disappointing but it sure as hell doesn't take away from the season they had! That team did more for Indiana basketball than people give them credit for. We've already forgotten and want to move on from this era. Very sad for those guys if that happens.

It is not failure to lose in a single elimination tournament against another #1 team when you are banged up and in a tourney that is known for being unpredictable! To call that failure.. It's sick.

people don't want 80's RMK IU, we want 2015 winning IU basketball.  That's all.  It's not about Knight.  Knight was an amazing coach and a less than amazing man.  He won though.  The fans want winning basketball.  Every fan was in Crean's lap during that 2 year stretch.  No one gave a hoot about Knight during that stretch.  Just win consistently Crean, and the noise goes away.

they were not playing good basketball as they almost lost to temple. They were never in the Syracuse game. It is also impossible to play another number one team in sweet sixteen if I am not mistaken

Last I checked Mike Davis was a Bobby Knight assistant. So unless things were different back then. Mike Davis recruited the 01'-02' to come to IU and played a huge part in developing them everyday at pratice. If you know something I don't about Asst Coach's responsibilites and job activities please enlighten me. You seem to know more than everyone else on here anyways.

It was also his 2nd year as Head Coach not like he took over mid-season.

Also Tom was 5 years removed from his FF at Marq. It's not like he packed his bags and went to DWade's dorm and told him the gig was up. But whatever gets your story across better to us idiots that don't know anything about basketball.

Tell Jordan Hulls the S16 wasn't an accomplishment. You wouldn't say it.

You're right. I wouldn't go up to Jordan Hulls and tell him it wasn't an accomplishment. I don't say a lot of the things I think. It's called having a filter and being an adult.

Hulls was also quoted post-Syracuse that it will haunt him the rest of his life. I'm sure he would be in agreement that given the level of talent and expectations that year, that just making the SW16 wasn't an accomplishment. It's all relative. The year before, it was an accomplishment, but not in 2013.

Let me ask you this, if we had beaten James Madison and Temple back-to-back at any other point in that season, would beating them both be an accomplishment to you? Absolutely not, so why is it an accomplishment to do it in March?

I can't stand some of it, either. But it's his philosophy and me bellyaching doesn't do anything but make me look like a know it all hack.

We have actually gassed some teams because we stay fresh, but he'll never get credit for that. It had to have been something else, ha

now we gas other teams? Our second half record suggests otherwise. If anyone is gassed it is IU with our losing record in second halves of games

Because this is Indiana and tournament results matter more than anything and those 2 wins got us a third of the way through the tourney?

Do we have a losing 2nd half record? Everyone is citing this but even last night we did better in the 2nd half than the 1st.
