Troy Williams - 2 of the top 10 plays

Recommended Posts

Man, I was listening to the game on the radio and that is actually the first I have seen that crossover drive. Very impressive from young Troy. Gosh, I remember just like a month ago every time he had the ball heading towards the basket I would yell "Don't worry I'll take it to the rim Coach!!" as he would be tumbling out of control. I have seen great improvement from him in terms of handling the ball and staying under control and hope to see more and more of it.

Side note. Troy Williams is slowly but surely becoming my favorite player on this team. I wasn't a big fan if his last year and especially thru the off-season, but he is really forming into a dangerous threat on offense and more importantly on the boards.

If the kid develops an outside shot and continues to improve his decision making...wow! He'll be pretty close to unstoppable! His D? Needs a little work but the potential is there.

I've been critical of Troy, and hate the Oladipo comparisons, because I think what separated VO wasn't his athleticism (which is great) or skill but his intangibles (work ethic, character and commitment).

With that said, Troy's fast-break dunk and then sprint back on defense for the block was very Oladipo-esque. There's no doubt that Troy is this teams X-factor, as he goes the team will go. Not saying he's the leader, but his performance will most likely dictate the teams performance.

Listening to his OSU post game presser gives me the impression that he's starting to get it.  I'm interested to see his energy and effort over the next stretch of games, especially @UI.

Yea we literally had an awesome resource of info right here at our fingertips but 1) she couldn't turn her head away at a bad situation for a couple days and 2) we have some posters who couldn't manage to just hold their tongue out of respect for a mother who was having trouble digesting what her son did.

A dark moment for btown banners

When Troys mom was posting I was always a little leery of the situation.

Being the weeks leading up to the season there was a lot of praise optimism for him and very little negative chatter. When the incident occurred everything changed.

I have been critical of Troy and others several times since then.

I think most posters are fair with their criticism while some step into the territory of being disrespectful.

I know Yogi's Mom listens in and participates on occasion and has heard me be very critical of her sons play.

On the same hand she's probably read the praise as well. There's a difference in being critical and attacking a kid for mistakes that maybe not all of us but most were just as guilty of if not worse.

I know they are IU basketball players and are held to a higher standard but these are mothers who will always be protective of their kids.

I am not going to hold out to much hope that he is going to develop an outside shot. Crazier things have happened, but I think for now, he is doing alright without it.

his outside shot has improved, no doubt. He just isn't fully comfortable using it, and is opting for "higher percentage" plays. All those 3 point shoots in the offseason had to help some. His ball handling is dramatically improved.

Troy can be a Really special player!

I'm not gonna lie, I can only recall one time this year that Troy has taken a 3. Pretty sure he made it and I think it was against Louisville maybe. Anyway, I agree about his ball handling, he improved that drastically from last year, along with his decision making. Hope he is Dipo 2.0.
