Cracking the Top 25

Recommended Posts

This team really (undeservingly) gets not enough love from fans and outsiders. Thought we definitely should've been ranked this week. Oh well, I think it actually works out better this way. Ranks put on a lot of pressure and I'm not so sure how this team would handle it.

Heck, I think a lot of us that admire this team, felt a little unjustified after that game.

I know I did. It's one thing to lose while competing, but I just didn't see any fire at all that whole game. I can sit through a whole game pulling my hair out if our TO % is 25%+, but that MSU game was the first IUBB game I've watched where I wanted to turn off the TV.

Somehow we dropped from 44 to 55 at kenpom.com over the weekend while Ohio State is #21. Can't figure that one out at all, but we did pass Illinois, which dropped faster than we did. How Minnesota is ahead of us there I'll never understand. They haven't beaten anyone of substance, they're 0-4 in B1G. (I predicted Minnesota would regret firing Tubby when it happened).

We're 60 in RPI as of today, but it boils down to finishing 11-7 or better in the conference to be sure to be in The Dance. We should be able to do that.

While I'm "on the record" about coaching predictions, I also said Illinois would regret letting Weber go. His K State team beat Top 10 Oklahoma at Oklahoma over the weekend. I really think he's a much better coach than Groce, regardless of who recruits in Chicago.

I don't think anyone ever regrets firing Tubby, from any school. Lol

Has our projected big 10 record changed on Kenpom? If so, what does it predict now?

I'm not a subscriber so all I can see are the overall kenpom rankings. We've been as high as 40, spent much of the pre-season in the 50's and 60's.
