Clemson wins it.  They are having a great season

13 seasons for Brownell and they’re atop the ACC. There were some pretty rough seasons in there, too. But Clemson isn’t really great at basketball. You don’t see a school stick with a coach like that anymore.

393 points away. At this point, just go for it. Team is 7-12... Teammates should just feed him like crazy. 12 games left, including the conference tourney game. Needs to average 33 a game.

No, just no. If "you" are a student of the craft, knowing that "you" will never ever be able to achieve what Pistol Pete did, "you" simply take your EXTREMELY well deserved 2nd place and move on. Antoine has a very well deserved spot in history, he know's not to piss on those in his bracket, better than him.

While there were some lean years, he's also took them to the tournament a few times -- including a Sweet 16 run. Not bad for a school that doesn't give any resources to basketball.

Brad is from Evansville, and has had success at low major schools. He's a good coach that could have more success at a school that wanted to foster a better basketball culture.

I know who he is. He’s done a decent job there. Purnell sort of turned them around. It’s an interesting situation where maybe he could’ve left or maybe they could’ve fired him during the six years they missed the tourney, but for whatever reason they seem to like each other and mutually realize they could be worse off by parting ways. That doesn’t happen too often anymore .

For the same reason that I’ve always given Crean credit for taking the IU job when guys like Bennett wanted no part of it, I’ve always respected Brownell for just openly lobbying for it in ‘09. Remember thinking the Wright St guy, a coach with no reputation or reach, wanting that train wreck took stones.

So don't go for the record just because Pistol Pete is #1? Nah screw that. Go for it.

Love the kids achievement, but no one wants to be the worlds tallest midget (so to say). Let the greats, remain the greats. All things are not equal.

Yeah, might be worth noting that LSU was 27-25 in Maravich's first two years and 15-21 in conference while Maravich averaged over 38 shots per game.

It will be a moot point because Davis isn't going to average 33 points per game for the rest of the year.  He's consistently averaged between 23 and 26 for his career.  But the truth is that if he were to get close to Maravich's record that's more attractive to recruits than whether Detroit ended up 13-19 rathern than 11-21.

Brownell, an Indiana guy, played High Scool basketball with Calbert Cheaney at Evansville Harrison.

I don't think he is going to average 33, but might as well try right?
