It's inevitable to want to compare the 1976 Hoosiers to this season's Gonzaga squad.
But if you think the '76 Hoosiers could give the Zags a game, you're kidding yourselves.
Quinn Bucker, Scott May, Kent Benson -- all those dudes are pushing 70. Bobby Wilkerson was a fantastic defender, but at 66, I just don't think he could keep up with Jalen Suggs.
Hoosiers would keep it close for a few seconds, but the Zags would pull away fairly quickly.
You're not factoring if the game is in Indy and the old guys slip the bus driver a couple bucks and all of a sudden the Zags are lost.

Forfeit to IU 1976.

A little shade thrown in the article from Syracuse (not that they have been all that impressive lately....) but Indiana is looking to be a trailblazer with how the NIL stuff is going and someone took notice.

This person/website really took the time to publish an article about IU's tweet promoting its program?

That is just odd

It's because Boeheim is against NIL payment. Says that the NCAA is ditching amateurism to benefit 50 guys while 3,950 players are happy to be getting a free education. Syracuse fans see everything through a Boeheim lens.

And in a perfect world I agree with Boeheim.  That world is gone though.  Glad to see that the people in charge at Indiana are finally getting out in front of something.  This is coming, for better or worse, so it is best to prepare for the inevitable.  Late adopters could find themselves in a hole.

Question about next year- will the players "class" stay the same as this year? For example will Lander still be a Fr. and Jackson-Davis a So.? I know it was a free year.

I think so

This article talks some about the NIL and ways players might cash in.

I doubt Suggs stays another year, especially if they win it all, so he will be able to make money on this tournament run and that shot very soon as he won't have to worry about eligibility.

It was always going to be Hubert Davis. That's why he stayed there as an assistant for so long. If public reports are correct, they didn't even reach out to anyone outside of the Carolina family. I have respect for that, but I wonder if UNC can work as ones first head coaching gig. He's never even led a high school program before. But he may have been practically coaching that team for the past few years for all we know.

This doofus doesn’t even realize he’s undermining his own argument. He clowned the Woodson hire. North Carolina is a better job than IU, and yet they hired someone with a worse resume than IU. Mike Woodson was a head coach in the NBA for nine seasons. Hubert Davis, not so much. This is what happens when you give someone in mom jeans an audience.

Funny.

btw, Jeff Goodman reports almost all news regarding the portal or NBA draft decisions. But of course he never reported that TJD was returning to Indiana.

Can someone create a parody account called @GoodmanPoops? Please and thank you.

Before this game gets going tonight I wanted to thank all of you for hanging out in this thread all year and talking hoops.  While most will go into hibernation, Old Fart and myself and some others will update the recruiting cycle this year and hopefully I will get a chance to go to some events.   Old posters no place I would rather be talking college basketball with so can’t wait to do it again next year.  New posters don’t be strangers and jump in the conversation next year for the best sport on the planet.   This sport always delivers. Enjoy the game tonight

With all the good news today. I hope Baylor can deliver one more piece
