(2017) SF Jordan Tucker- OV 11/30/16

Recommended Posts

Well good stuff.  I'm sure the visit had quite an effect on him, and hopefully we end up with him.

Obviously everyone wants the guys like Wilkes and Preston, for good reason, but there's something to be said for the kids who go into college expecting to be there a few years vs. kids who don't even bother unpacking their bags all the way because they've got one foot out the door already.

IMO this was always our best shot with a 5 star or high 4 star. Wilkes felt off from the beginning of this year. The multiple visits and IU never being a leader coming into this year gave me doubts. Tucker came here for an unofficial and talked up the program and said he would be back and the other night he made good. I was worried we lost ground w the vamped up recruitment of Wilkes, but looks like we made it up. Cousins with Clifton Moore gives us a angle to use as well. At THIS point he's ours to lose. U of L is out which was who scared me. Cuse probably is as well w Brisset going there. Nova is who worries me now and if Duke misses on Kevin Knox he is their's if they want him. I think they get Knox though and I think Tucker is ours. I think we should be done after Tucker and wait until the spring for coaching changes or grad guys for anyone else. Unless Diallo is serious about us, which after making his top 5 you would never know by twitter we are even after him.

To elaborate on your point here, I'm still not counting us out for some recruits we were essentially bridesmaids for.

Michael Porter being one.  It's highly likely Lorenzo Romar gets fired after this year, given that he's been there since 2002 and hasn't reached the NCAA tournament since the 2010-2011 season.  This year will almost certainly be 6 seasons in a row that Washington doesn't get invited.

Although Porter will probably end up wherever his dad gets offered a coaching job, I'll hold out hope that a successful season for IU will at least keep us on his radar if he's forced to evaluate his options at the end of the year.

Another is Tremont Waters, but we'll just have to be patient here.  I guess we're fortunate that some of the recruits who considered us ended up picking such sh!tty teams.  Ha.

Agreed I don't see GT not getting a new coach. Maybe he goes there but maybe not andhe's too good to settle and we were his only other high choice that hasn't signed a PG.

If Bryant stays and we get Waters this team will be scary good next year

Though logical, the bridesmaids thing never seems to help. Seems like when prior guys opened back up or were looking to transfer we were not in the mix. Noticed it somewhat with other schools too.

“I loved the atmosphere [at Indiana],” Tucker said Sunday by phone of his trip, which included watching No. 10 Indiana take out No. 3 UNC, 76-67. “I got to go for a national game. Usually people go for football games and stuff, I wanted to switch it up, come for a basketball game. So I saw how they prepared for UNC and what they did and what they’re going to take away from them. Coach [Tom] Crean makes his players feel comfortable and always lets them know what they have to do to secure a ‘W.'”

“As of right now, no I’m not,” he said. “I was planning on committing after those two visits. Not right away but soon. I’m trying to but my goal is to commit in January [or] February the latest.”

“Depending on how we’re rolling with the season, I’m just going to play it by ear, kind of,” he said. “Maybe we plan an ESPN game also, maybe do it on there or before we play a game.”

WOW! This is good news. Down to us and Nova. Hope we can close the deal.

I think we have to be considered the leaders. Samuels was ranked pretty high & higher than smith. May be a factor who knows. Knowing OG is almost 99.9 % gone after this yr he knows hes likely to have a chance to srart along w DD, Juwan, possibly JBJ & RoJo would be an awesome team.

Probably more of a "with what we have and the addition of you, we're competing for the 'ship. You're the missing piece."

If any top 25 team isn't using that type of line I'd be shocked.
