Hoosiers take the series opener over Rutgers 6-4.  We led 2-0 after 3 but Rutgers scored 3 in the 4th and 1 in the 5th off Macy Montgomery who was replaced by Heather Johnson who only allowed 2 more Rutgers hits in the game.   In Montgomery's defense, only 1 of Rutgers 4 runs was earned due to a total of 5 IU errors.  We scored solo runs in the 2nd and 3rd; 3 in the 5th and 1 more in the 6th on just 5 hits.

Well, we made it interesting but held on for a 5-4 win.  We led 5-2 after 5 but Rutgers scored 2 in the 6th.  In the 7th, they had runners on 2nd and 3rd but couldn't score.  Rutgers had 11hits off Johnson and Montgomery.  We only had 5 hits but made them count with runners in scoring position.  Tomorrow's game starts at noon.

I will give Shonda Stanton credit.

While she has by no means set the world on fire at IU, she has made them a decent team since she has been here instead of the conference doormat they were prior to her tenure.

25th ranked Irish win 8-5 in 8 innings.

It was tied at 3 after 6 innings but Notre Dame scored an unearned run in the top of the 7th.  IU women got runners on 1st and 2nd in  the bottom of the 7th with 1 out.  Grayson Radcliffe hit an RBI single to tie it at 4 apiece and runners advanced to 2nd and 3rd with just 1 out but we couldn't push the winning run across.

Unfortunately, ND added 4 runs in the 8th.  We responded with doubles by Andrews and Benson to make it 8-5 but could do nothing further.

Tomorrow's game was originally scheduled to start at 5:00 but has been moved to a 2:00 start due to expected rain moving into Bloomington tomorrow evening.

Lost the second game 13-8 in 9 innings.  Killer was NU scoring 6 in the top of the 9th.  Didn't help we committed 4 errors which accounted for 4 of NU's runs.  We had 8 hits with Cora Bassett getting 3 of them and driving in 3 runs.  We used 4 pitchers who gave up 14 hits but 6 were for extra bases and all off Heather Johnson who had a rough day on the  mound.  Try to salvage a win today starting at 1:00.

First game of tonight's home doubleheader vs PUke is a 6-3 win for our Hoosiers.  Each game is worth a half a point in the annual Governor's Cup competition.  Weather caused the games to be postponed from earlier this month.

We took a 4-0 lead into the 5th when PU scored a run to make it 4-1.  In its 6th, PU picked up 2 more runs but our Hoosiers bounced back with back-to-back solo HRs from Davis and Benson to make it 6-3 and that's how it ended.
